There are so many things I want to say but don't know where to start. I don't know how long I can still keep fighting Pokemon, but I think this is not just a statement of victory, but also a farewell.
First of all, I'm extremely grateful that my managers was willing to draft me, if it weren't for them giving me this opportunity, my Pokemon Battle career would probably have ended in regret. hex adjustments mushamu It's my honor to be able to fight for you.
I'm very sorry that even though we won the championship, I still haven't fully familiarized myself with all of you. Maybe in your eyes, Dusk is a chinese guy who doesn't often joke around or play around with everyone, only talk a little bit in his bw channel. This might still be due to the language barrier, but I think I still did what was my duty. Sure, so are you, basically every week, when I log in to discord, i can always see you guys post win, especially adjustments DugZa Floss , thank u for carry me and i am so happy to team up with you (LogIce u are the forever goat in my heart). Well also, i really love our team, because our team has truly made me feel what it's like to play games with friends. If I were to say, I'd rather consider everyone as a big family, perhaps this is the most crucial link that enables us to keep going and win the tournament. Thank you all for preparing the team and testing for me every week, without your support I won't be able to achieve a decent record hex mushamu twinkay , although a 3-4 record is not an outstanding one, I think if I hadn't been so unlucky, I might have been able to hand you a more satisfactory answer sheet.
In fact, by the sixth week of this tournament, I almost lost all my games. The consecutive defeats deeply hit my heart. I didn't dare to open discord to face my teammates, didn't dare to open discord to review the game, and didn't even have the courage to say sorry in chat. Here I also want to thank all my MPL teammates for your encouragement and comfort when I was in adversity. It made me feel that I was not alone in bearing these pains and grievances. And I still need to take up a bit of space here to say sorry to the managers of my other tournament.
Slowpoke Fan awyp Elvira kenn Jeza.p Éric reggg I'm very sorry that my performance has let you down. I sincerely apologize to you for my actions. I had no intention of getting cancer in these tournament, it was the successive failures and negative feedback that made my stress explode at that moment. So I have to leave enough free time for my own mind, so that I can get a moment of relaxation from the depression and suffocation brought by failure. For the ongoing tournament, I will keep myself in good condition and complete the last leg of my Pokemon battle career with my best side.
Here are some words I want to say. I joined Smogon and PS! This big family has been around for about four years now. During these four years, I have experienced so much and grown so much, I have grown from a naive and inexperienced unkown to a mature Pokemon battle player with rich experience and many friends, even though many people recognize my strength, I still lack an indispensable element in Pokemon battles, that is, honor. In the past four years, I have never won a championship of a tour. I can't remember how many times I have fallen in the final. So I have a heart that wants to win the game more than anyone else. Every time I am overwhelmed by the pressure of life and Pokemon battles, I have thought countless times about giving up Pokemon battles and just ending my Pokemon career that I have been striving for so hard for a long time. But I am not willing to give up. So, it is this unwillingness that has supported me to get to where I am now. Now i finally got my first ever champion in the 4 years, and maybe it is my last one. Even so, I'm still very content because I've finally achieved my goal. I can no longer play under pressure or leave the field with regrets. Maybe I still have something to say, but just keep it in my heart. I love you all. Thank you for watching here.

my record could've been cleaner, but can't complain about the outcome. was also pretty happy with the teams I brought this tour, which were mostly mine. s/o everyone who helped though

w1 vs masskeau
:terapagos: :blissey: :ditto: :ursaluna: :zoroark-hisui: :porygon2:
https://pokepast.es/fdfb5b9d318aa8ec
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-841644?p2

just wanted to bring a strong type because w1 and not a lot to go off of. normal is still really strong, one of my favorite types in sv and i'm surprised people stopped using it later into the tour. team is pretty standard but the terapagos set is cool to help vs steel and provide hazard removal with p2 > brav. the game however was very unfortunate, had a really strong start and should probably never lose once lu dies but I choked thinking +2 terapagos outsped scarf gren. definitely my cringiest game of the tour and unfortunately the end of the mcmeghan larp...for now.

w2 vs king choco

this 6 is standard obviously, but I do think specs prim on this 6 is kind of uncommon although not unheard of. with this 6 you need extra tools vs goodra since valiant alone can't be expected to beat dragon, and originally I was going to use sylveon with enough bulk to survive a goodra heavy slam and weaken it with 2 specs hyper voices, which would've been fire if I hadn't faced 6 steel types. floss said specs prim was better though and yeah, it is and fulfills the same purpose. the game was a mu I always lost in ladder / tests but was close because of the valiant set which I think decem made so s/o to him. i think I had good odds before the timeout but might've come down to a 50/50, not sure

w3 I used a floss team. Also not reliving the "discourse" of that game.

w4 vs stories

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-846716

probably my favorite team of the tour and the most "creative". this 6 has been in my builder for a while but I got inspired to actually build and try it in mpl after seeing chait using a similar klefki-less fairy. i think this style is harder for dark/dragon to beat with pickpocket tinka for goodra and weezing to handle meow / moon, although I don't know if it has much merits over the standard fairy otherwise. still a fun team though.

w5 vs yedla

https://pokepast.es/21e4080652f45e2b
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-848120

I really liked this team too. fighting had been struggling with dark during the tour but I thought chestnaught would be a good way to help with meow as well as have a lot of utility as a ground resist and spiker. i don't like scrafty cause it's useless in most mus so it helps as a potential shadow ball switch in as well. the mu was hard but I could've done a few things different like harding chesnaught t2 (I was scared of wisp but he probably wouldn't risk taking a full knock from tusk for no reason) and ice punching t11 instead of going for rolls

semis vs qwily
:froslass: :dragapult: :spectrier: :ceruledge: :flutter-mane: :gholdengo:
https://pokepast.es/308c9ecd70b78be8
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-853125

also a common 6 w/ my personal take on sets. I'm not a big fan of sinistcha for the same reasons as scrafty but in hindsight I don't think balloon ghold is the wave, I think you probably want balloon spectrier. still, I really like the modest focus blast ghold for goodra, with cc ceruledge giving extra insurance vs dragon. i thought I would win after he let me para his torn and cuno but unfortunately he had tspikes which did indeed beat my team. the switch turn 12 though is another cringy play, probably my second cringiest of the tour. i need spectrier at full to have any chance of winning obviously and getting my second kill there would've been much better than what I ended up doing, even if it was just on a sacked skarm

ORAS

w6 vs cyberodin

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen6monotype-2384806031-fgm70lw7nwkf02k8lo0arhjb9ublumepw

I remember feeling pretty unimpressed with our opp's oras brings and figured this would probably just win. it's a team I built in mwp for jojo vs jon which was mostly a c team for stuff like psychic, fire, and rain.

w7 vs plague
:politoed: :swampert-mega: :kingdra: :rotom-wash: :empoleon: :azumarill:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen6monotype-2387914668-7tckchkd2l7s9wnm1tth7tgh5qwubyepw

I think this was during my wolfey larp so I wanted to use perish song politoed and azumarill is cute, although it made my mu a lot worse than volcanion would have. looking back this team is kinda bad though LOL and i probably didn't have much business winning this matchup, my opp played pretty weird I feel by not sacking the useless victini and risking the latios at various points, which I was able to capitalize on

BW

finals vs jolly togekiss

https://pokepast.es/414e7458e233eaef
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen5monotype-856070

going into the week I knew I was going to use steel even though my team told me to use fighting. steel is the type I think is strongest in mono and I had basically begged other slots to use it to no avail. plus it seemed decent into everything because I wasn't expecting a fire from him after the semis game. was mostly expecting fighting / ground / psy, probably in that order

attribute gave me the initial 6 so s/o to him. i only changed a few moves like making the heatran rocks, skarm tox for chomp or tauros (lol), and magnezone hp ice cause wasn't expecting steel. i also changed the jirachi to lefties 4 attacks which is a set I really liked, was originally gonna do physical but made it special the day of.

the mu seemed quite good for me and I think I played okay, figured it was over after he sacked victini but the game got close after the toxic miss on bro and after I almost sacked scarf mag to a zam lol (but he switched out anyway). by turn 35 his only wincon was to crit focus on scizor which he got, but I covered for this by bullet punching, putting it in ferro range. prob should've leeched > whip. not as clean a win as I wanted, espec cause he didn't maximize his odds at the end, but I'm glad I kept a level head through some bad luck in the must-win game

---

thanks to my team for getting me and being great, winning mpl has been my biggest "dream" on the site ever since MPL VIII. at times, it felt like it would never happen, but now I realize it wasn't that hard after all. maybe in the future I will have that attribute / trichotomy / chaitanya / floss / dugza / mcmeghan tour where I can be super content with my teams and play and that will TRULY be gaggy. for now though, there are still some things to reflect on and grow on. isn't that what life is about though?

also S/O THE DUGZERK

I didn't build a wholeee lot in the tour. I just chose most team choices in old gens, and helped the SV slots who wanted it that week. I'm usually very picky in my team quality so I try to make sure teams are absolutely perfect before letting someone use them which is a vice of mine since not everything can be perfect, so some of what I'm posting is unused in tours but worked fine in tests.

-----------------
:koraidon: SV :miraidon:
-----------------

All of our slots were super self sufficient and we ended up reusing a lot so (again) not a huge amount of building was done by myself personally.

:ogerpon-hearthflame: :volcarona: :cinderace: :heatran: :torkoal: :ceruledge:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-850913 - Week 7
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-856194 - Finals
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9monotype-852672 - MFPL

The #TOURWINNER. The only team that I ended up building and feeling comfortable using was this Fire. I'd probably rate Fire amongst the Top 5 types right now. Its offensive pressure is enough to beat literally anything if played right. The only match-up where I'd say you have to play so well that its slightly inconsistent is Sand Ground. Volcarona+Ceruledge is pretty much able to overwork anything, and since its Lefties Bulkyrona + Sash Ledge I decided double removal was the way to go. Flame Body Heatran is something I used in HPL finals a while ago to fish for burn vs Roaring Moon since thats probably the only Pokemon that can spell instant death for the team if played correctly. Apparently LogIce is a savant with this.

:clefable: :flutter mane: :iron valiant: :azumarill: :klefki: :hatterene:

Mostly? Standard Fairy but with a unique take on Clefable. Clef should in theory lure Hoodra, Clod, Corviknight, Articuno, and Gliscor. Clef outspeeds Hoodra, Clod, and Corvi so you can Knock them and they'll usually use a contact move in return (Hslam, Pjab, and Uturn respectively) and then will end up taking Barb from you and are neutered for the rest of the game. Cuno and Gliscor are more unique circumstances. Gliscor isn't always running Knock (i.e wont take Barb from you) and Cuno just subs on you but you can catch it with Knock on switch in maybe. Felt worth mentioning. Anyway, with Hoodra/Clod/Corv down for the count with Barb you open up the game for the rest of the team but mostly Flutter Mane and Clef itself since it's removing most Moonblast resists this way.

:archaludon: :goodra-hisui: :kyurem: :raging bolt: :latias: :dragapult:

Dragon is boring, won't say much. BoltBeam fucks up a lot of stuff. This is probably better supplemented with Spikes Chomp.

:oricorio-pom-pom: :regieleki: :rotom-wash: :iron hands: :thundurus: :zapdos:

I made this like Week 1 because I wanted to see if Electric could work like, if ever. I came to the conclusion that Rock is somehow more viable...LOL. I felt like this type was only viable going the HO route so I chose screens. I don't remember what the Oricorio EVs do. Something about not being revenged by Scarf Enam after some setup. Taunt should kinda 6-0 Flying and other random stuff. Payapa Hands was for Latios, can be Roseli for Flutter though. You lose to one or the other so pick your poison I suppose. I figured Flutter might've been an easier MU since I used basically a FairyKiller Thundy. Zapdos can be okay vs Dragon if it can fish for Para/Burn successfully, creeped it to outspeed Timid Tran. Mostly posting this to see if anyone can solve Electric since its one of my favorite types!

----------------
:zacian: SS :zamazenta:
----------------

Built these during MPL but DugZa was self sufficient asf so I just used them in MFPL instead.

:garchomp: :hydreigon: :kyurem: :dragalge: :dragapult: :kommo-o:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen8monotype-848271

Named the paste Exodia since I just took the 6 I wanted and copy pasted sets from various Dragon-teams in my builder to fill certain roles. DugZa brought up Dragon in Week 1 (?) so I threw this together.

:zeraora: :rotom-wash: :tapu koko: :magnezone: :zapdos: :raichu-alola:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen8monotype-850943

Electric is like one of my fav types to use in SS it's so fun. You need Band Zera nowadays to actually beat Dragon otherwise that shit is just so unplayable IMO. I also dislike using Specs Zapdos as against a lot of the meta it just falls flat if you don't get a lot of 5050s right which is just not consistent.

:melmetal: :aegislash: :celesteela: :heatran: :Excadrill: :jirachi:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen8monotype-852633

I love Melmetal he's so fun to use in SSOU but tbh that didn't translate very well here. He actually feels kinda annoying to fit on some teams. This team felt fine in tests but is absolutely HORRIBLE in the mirror (I got fucking #destroyed by Schwipper). Steel is also overrated asf in this tier IMO. Wouldn't go out of my way to use it, only did because it was nowhere on my scout.

------------------
:zekrom: BW :reshiram:
------------------

Not really gonna say much since most of my BW stuff is just importing spreads from elsewhere once I get an idea

:scizor: :forretress: :volcarona: :heracross: :yanmega: :venomoth:

For Semis we almost loaded this vs Gelbel. I think it would've been a fine mu (not that our MU was bad anyway) but someone in our team cord mentioned using Venomoth and tbh it actually performed in test games it was funny asf.

:sharpedo: :seismitoad: :politoed: :empoleon: :ludicolo: :keldeo:

Dreamteam combo by myself and mushamu. I forgot what the original thought process was we just wanted to use this Sharpedo set since I rate Sharpedo decently high in the meta. But Water itself is like B tier at most honestly. Icy Wind + HP Fly Keldeo was for Dnite + Fighting respectively so you don't instalose to them.

------------------

I think SV is in a great spot. Before I probably would've complained about something needing to be banned (Archaludon) but the tier feels pretty stable right now. We've seen cool stuff brought out this tour and I don't think anything needs to go.

In BW I would maybe advocate for Volcarona to go but not really super opinionated on that. I was pretty vocal about banning Latios all those years ago and while I think that ban was a net-positive, banning something else might just be too much rn sooooo whatever.

Dusk We all appreciated your efforts even if you were quiet. The games you won were awesome and you were still an important part of the team. Everyone loses and its unavoidable. Don't feel bad about it!! This win is yours just as much as it is the rest of the teams <3.

Just wanted to thank my team one last time. All of your shoutouts have been so sweet and thank you to my friends in Ducks who have been congratulating me <3. Until next time!
