Ultra Foolish Offensive Team - (UFO)

Team Ultra Foolish Offensive (Codename: UFO)

dpmba392.png

Infernape (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk / 196 Spd / 248 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
• Endeavor
• Stealth Rock
• Close Combat
• Fake Out

This is the best anti-lead I have found for the platinum metagame. Kills the CB-Tar leads that usually stay in, Fake Out other Focus Sash leads, and then proceed to set up SR and switch to an appropriate counter. Endeavor also brings down bulky waters if I’m on 1% HP after killing their lead.
* Would like a better set to be posted, I feel I'm at a disadvantage, especially against T-Tar (they switch) and Hippowdon leads. *

Cresselia (F) @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 20 HP/248 Def/240 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
• Light Screen
• Moonlight
• Thunder Wave
• Ice Beam

Quack Quack meet the space duck. It is my teams only wall, I originally had a T-Tar here but that was replace due to inconsistency. The Space duck can basically stop any Dragon trying to sweep, especially random DD-Mence. It also saves my sorry ass from a Gyara sweep which can open up due to poor prediction. The only thing I would consider replacing on this, is the Screen. Which would be better? Reflect would offer much more sweeping power and also helps with Ice Sharders who try to get at Salamence.

dpmba135.png

Jolteon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP/156 Def/96 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
• Thunderbolt
• Hidden Power [Ground]
• Shadow Ball
• Signal Beam

Welcome to electric hell, this is my second scarfer, and is quite Bulky. It took 25% from a critical hit Bullet Punch from a CB Machamp! I know its NVE but its still impressive. This also helps in killing Celebi if my Heatran somehow died. Its also my Gyarados counter II. I also use this to revenge kill opposing ScarfTran. So fun ^^. The EVs are to outrun Choice Scarf Gengar, and maximise my SAtk and Defense.
dpmba485.png

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
• Earth Power
• Fire Blast
• Hidden Power [Ice]
• Explosion

Flaming in to spot 4 is the most used Fire Pokemon… Heatran! This thing has a scarf, so its pretty much standard. Stop Scizor, kill other Heatran, Explode. This can also be a sponge for DDMence outrages, if I don’t want to reveal the best Bug Pokemon on my team.

dpmba212.png

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP /252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
• Swords Dance
• Brick Break
• Bullet Punch
• Pursuit

“The best bug Pokemon on my team” is coming back. This can initiate so much fear in my opponent if I reveal it early-game, that they almost always play conservatively. Also, this is my counter to Gengar, as it can OHKO a lot of my Pokemon. Can also function as a revenge-killer / sweeper. This also covers my last Pokemon’s weaknesses, although not 100% and has great synergy with T-Tar and Heatran.

dpmba373.png

Salamence (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spd
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
• Dragon Dance
• Outrage
• Earthquake
• Flamethrower / Hidden Power [Grass] / Draco Meteor

The biggest BANG since the Big Bang is back. Previously, Mence was somewhat overshadowed by Dragonite but now, its better base speed and Outrage make it somewhat a better choice, coupled with intimidate. I usually proceed as so. DD, then if a Swampert switches in, I attack with HP Grass or Draco Meteor, and survive the Ice Beam with Yache. If I am running Flamethrower, I attack if I can KO with Outrage, or I switch to Gengar. If Heatran switch in, I EQ. If I need a sweep, I send Mence in on a Heatran HP[ice] and get the DD, then proceed to sweep. So please don’t suggest LO as an item here, since it would die within 3-4 turns because of recoil and SR damage.

Team Strategy

1. Use Infernape to cripple opposing leads.
2. Send out Quacky and try to cripple other Pokemon.
3. When faced with any offensive threat, take out using surprise value of Jolten, or plain old ScarfTran.
4. Arrange a Scizor sweep by setting up 2-3 dances. (1 is often more than enough though)
5. Kill or weaken their main walls. Send in (if alive) wounded Infernape, Endeavor. This can also help before (4)
6. Set Mence up on an Ice Move, staying alive with the Yache. Begin to sweep.
7. If met with a wall, go to remaining Pokes. Infernape Endeavor, Heatran moves/explode, Scizor BP, Jolteon's pure ownage. Maybe even set up another screen from Quacky.
8. Do step (6) again.

Well, thats my basic gameplan that I follow, if I don't have to predict or stuff. Just a rough sketch.

Suggestions from Smogonites
Goldfan, thanks a lot. Your Heatran helped me to get through my late 1300s, but I could not use it well against more experienced players. I alternate between your Heatran and my old now. ^^ Thanks a lot.
Panamaxis, thanks for spotting my wrong EVing. I originally had Fire Blast over CC , hence the SAtk EVs.
Everyone else who has taken time to view this

Particular Threats
I have not spotted any glaring weakness, however, sometimes I fail to get my SR up,(my bad prediction contributes a lot, since I overpredict a lot of the time) and also, it is hard to counter Scizor with Bug moves. Sure, I take it down, but it costs me a Pokemon if I have lost Heatran. Thats also a reason I haven't sacked Heatran already: I sometimes encounter Scizor who run a Scarf.

Status seems to be something this team hates, especially Paralysis, since I can usually play around Toxic and Burn. Also, I find I lack a surefire counter to Zapdos, especially ones with Roost. They simply don't stay in on Cresselia, dunno why. Heatran has fried the most electric-bird-butts I know till date.

Conclusion

I can say R8/H8/Steal. However, I'd like constructive criticism, and suggestions for any problems I have. Not much here, I'm sure you *points finger* Smogoners can help me get the job done. Thanks!

Nice Ape, keep if it I were you people will expect a Fire move, so they wont be switching in anything weak to it any time soon, one problem I have is the two choice scarfers on the team, the thing with Offensive teams is you must grab the momentum early and carry it through the game, making your opponant react to what you are doing and Vice Versa, so I'm going to suggest that you change your Heatran to one of these Substitute Toxic varients, most seems to be running a set like this:

dpicon485.png
@ Leftovers
Timid Nature / Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
~ Substitute
~ Toxic
~ Lava Plume / Flamethrower / Fire Blast
~ Earth Power

So what is the idea here? You substitute in order to scout for counters, if something bulky comes in like Milotic, Swapert etc... you TOxic and then either Substall or switch to something else to stall, if another Heatran comes in you do the same, it works off the fear people have of scarftran. You still beat Scizor because you are faster, you lose a little coverage against Lucario but you can still deal with it with Gengar. I would, however reaplce Will-o-Wisp on Gengar, its not going to do anything to things like Heatran who are common switchins, I think you could definately do with Shadow Ball > Will-o-Wisp and possibly even Focus Blast > Hypnosis as well which became even more unreliable in Platinum due to the accuracy drop, yes it becomes more standard scarf gar, but its standard for a reason, it works ;)

With Heatran dealing better with Bulky Waters, things you have a lkarge problem with, that means you no longer need to worry about HP Grass on Salamence which is good as it leaves the choice down to two, Flamethrower and Draco Metero, Draco Meteor will do more to the Likes of Hippowdon and Gliscor who may come in to wall you physically, but Flamethrower will do more against the Likes of Skarm and Bronzong, I'd personally go with Flamethrower, but again thats just preference so test them both out and see which you find more useful. Scizor is fine i think leave it as it is as a good late game sweeper. The synergy of your team is OK, there are a few things you dont have a resist to, such as Rock and Electric so you may have a little problem when running into things like Aerodactyl and Jolteon, but Yache Mence can help you get around the latter and Scizor / Scarf Tran will deal with the second, seeing as offensive teams work off sacrifices sometimes that doesn't seem like too much of an issue, so I don't think that needs changing, if you are having specific problems, however then come back and say, id be happy to help sort it ot with you. I hope some of this helped =D

I find your lead ape hilarious. 248 SpA evs when you have no Special Attacks?! Put them into attack. Looks like you have trouble against bulky waters. I think baitran (life orb + Explosion) would be a great asset to your team to lure in the bulky waters and kill them off, paving the way for a salamence sweep. On Gengar, Trick > Hypnosis and Focus Blast / Hp Ice > Will-o-wisp. This lets you cripple more and revenge kill DD'd salamence (assuming you use baitran). Agility Scizor sucks (on this team anyway) don't use it. Consider Roost > Pursuit on Scizor for extra survivability. Swampert > Tyranitar deal with Heatran and opposing dragons / tyranitar. To keep up the offense you could make it a CB version with: Waterfall / Ice Punch / Earthquake / Stone Edge. Actually your a bit infernape weak so maybe life orb + calm mind suicune > tyranitar. A bulky water would really help this team.

Minor Nitpick. Since when was Salamence overshadowed by Dragonite? If anything Dragonite was overshadowed by Salamence and Garchomp just owned all XD.

Bumpity bump, I tested out Breloom, no good bastard dies too easily even with Bulky BulkUp + Light Screen. :\ I have updated my team, and I think 24 hrs are up, so I'm use allowance. :D

I'm what you would call "a salamence disciple." as such, i recommend replacing naughty with adamant, max out its speed evs (dropping the hp ones), and using fire blast in the fourth slot. i have my ways of calculating whether a lower power/high acc. move or a higher power/lower acc. move is better, and fire blast wins. I would also recommend replacing yache with leftovers. why? step out of your skin and look at it from my point of view.
What do you see?

"Switching salamence in on ice moves? what kind of crazy idea is that?"

There's probably something to this that I am missing, but I dont get it. I've found that salamence can set up reasonably well on CM suicune (the resttalk kind) and ko it with outrage and proceed to sweep. ive gotten in an average of about 3 dd's before i had to outrage.
alternatively, you could use roost in the fourth slot. getting through skarm is harder, but suddenly you can heal up, much to the dismay of your foes. combining this with a magnezone could be fun...

This is random, but wouldnt it be so awesome if you finished an outrage and lum berried away that confusion?

Remember, salamence is a fearsome dd sweeper. use it that way.

actually, Yache lets it DD ont the switch of the opponent, then DD again as the counter fails to kill with Ice Beam, then follow up with a clean sweep.

What sharp teeth said is true, plus Salamence takes about 59% from a Ice Shard from Mamoswine, without factoring in Intimidate. That leave 59+25=83% taken off Mence, but it can still sweep for about 3 turns. Thats a solid 2-3 Pokemon down. And that is assuming Infernape failed to do its job. The scenario that Sharpteeth mentioned is also common, as I often get the equivalent of a Garchomp SD, plus 1 Agility. Now how broken is that? It OHKO's Scizor, so I don't need FireBlast, especially since Heatran can then come in on me and then proceed to sweep my if running 252 Spe Timid.
