[SET]
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Toxic
move 4: Rest / Roar
item: Eviolite
ability: Stamina
nature: Impish
evs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
[SET COMMENTS]
Despite not having reliable recovery options or a beneficial typing, Mudbray sets itself apart from other Stealth Rock setters due to its bulk and Stamina ability, allowing it to wall strong physical attackers such as Klang and Persian consistently. Toxic allows Mudbray to cripple bulky Defog and Rapid Spin users such as Vullaby, Dartrix, and Wartortle that want to switch in. Rest is Mudbray's only recovery move, which allows it to heal from otherwise crippling status conditions and keeps it healthy to continuously wall physical attackers throughout the game. Roar allows Mudbray to phaze setup sweepers such as Belly Drum Eiscue, Dragon Dance Hakamo-o, and Bulk Up Scraggy. Rock Slide is an alternative option that can help chip Defog users such as Vullaby and Dartrix alongside Toxic.
Mudbray is best suited for balance builds, where it can use its bulk to set up Stealth Rock and spread Toxic safely. Physical attackers such as Swords Dance Silvally-Ice and Gourgeist-L are able to break past Mudbray, so support from Pokemon like Klang and Vullaby is appreciated. Special attackers such as Gloom, Galarian Mr. Mime, Shiinotic, and Wartortle all pressure Mudbray to immediately switch out, so special walls such as Lickitung, Dusclops, and Klang are great teammates to switch into. Lickitung in particular provides Mudray with Wish and Heal Bell support that it greatly appreciates. Sweepers such as Silvally-Ice, Mr. Mime, and Wartortle appreciate Mudbray switching into and pressuring counters such as Shift Gear Klang and Shedinja and sponging priority attacks from users such as Fake Out Persian and First Impression Farfetch'd.
