LC Mudbray

[OVERVIEW]
Mudbray is the one of the only viable Stealth Rock setters that isn't weak to Fighting, and its combination of bulk and power makes it an effective one. Its ability, Stamina, is great against U-turn users such as Vullaby and Fake Out users such as Mienfoo. Because of Mudbray's bulk, it walls many of the tier's premier attackers such as Timburr, physical Vullaby, and Pawniard while soft checking many other threats. It also has one of the best Attack stats in the tier and good coverage moves such as Heavy Slam, Close Combat, and Rock Slide. However, even with its good bulk and Attack, it lacks Speed and resistances. Mudbray's lacking defensive role compression means there are better Stealth Rock setters, such as Onix and Pawniard, and it is often taken advantage of by common Water- and Grass-types such as Staryu and Foongus.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Earthquake deals good damage, especially to Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Heavy Slam hits at 120 BP against most Pokemon, provides good coverage alongside Earthquake, and hits Spritzee very hard. Furthermore, Heavy Slam is also a good midground to hit Vullaby hard. On the other hand, Rock Slide can be used over Heavy Slam to hit Vullaby harder and OHKO Wingull, but this would require more prediction. Close Combat is for Ferroseed and Porygon and can 2HKO both. Finally, Counter is a surprise option against Timburr, Mienfoo, and Vullaby that try to deal chip damage and works well with Berry Juice, as Mudbray will be taking hits.

Set Details
========
An Adamant nature and 196 Attack EVs let Mudbray hit as hard as possible. 116 HP EVs and 36 Defense EVs with Eviolite give Mudbray the bulk it needs to survive as long as possible and rack up as many Stamina Defense boosts as possible, while the Speed investment is so it can outspeed uninvested Mareanie and Timburr. Stamina is the ability of choice because it turns Mudbray into an ever-bulkier physically defensive wall. Finally, Berry Juice can be used instead of Eviolite as a way to recover HP, but the extra bulk that comes with Eviolite is almost impossible to give up.

Usage Tips
========
Mudbray can be used to offensively pressure teams off of switches thanks to its power and coverage. You can also switch Mudbray in against all kinds of resisted attacks, including from Onix, and U-turn to get a Defense boost from Stamina. This means that Mudbray is a great soft check to many common physical Pokemon such as Timburr, Vullaby, and Scraggy. Against these Pokemon and on free turns, Mudbray should use Stealth Rock to rack up as much damage as possible. Also, play around Mudbray's offensive checks such as Corphish and Staryu disliking switching into an attack. To ensure Mudbray's survivability, avoid getting hit by special attackers such as Porygon, which can easily take Mudbray's attacks.

Team Options
========
This Mudbray set works really well on bulky offense teams that need a broad check to threats and a Stealth Rock setter. However, it has trouble against Grass- and Water-types, so Pokemon that check foes such as Ferroseed are appreciated. Teammates such as Vullaby that appreciate an Onix check appreciate Mudbray. Also, U-turn users such as Mienfoo and Vullaby can pivot into Mudbray to apply pressure.

Moves
========
Earthquake hits hard, especially against popular Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Close Combat can 2HKO checks such as Ferroseed, which is able to tank Mudbray's other attacks. It can also hit Porygon hard and hit Vullaby decently as well. Heavy Slam hits harder than Rock Slide against neutral targets and does a good amount of damage to Flying-types that switch in. However, if you're confident in your predictions, Rock Slide hits Flying-types like Vullaby hard and OHKOes Wingull. High Horsepower can be used as a STAB attack for when Grassy Terrain is active.

Set Details
========
The Choice Scarf and Speed EVs allow Mudbray to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. An Adamant nature and 196 Attack EVs guarantee 2HKOs on Trapinch and Vullaby and allow Mudbray to deal as much damage as possible. Stamina lets Mudbray take priority moves such as Mach Punch from Timburr in a pinch.

Usage Tips
========
Mudbray should be used in high-leverage situations where Heavy Slam and Close Combat can be used to pressure Vullaby or other Pokemon immune to Earthquake switching in. Then, Mudbray can sweep a weakened team with Earthquake late-game. This particular set is less bulky than the others, so Mudbray needs to be wary of what it switches into, but it is unusually bulky for a Choice Scarf user, so it can risk taking some weak physical hits such as U-turn from Vullaby. Mudbray isn't typically a Choice Scarf user, so this set can surprise many players by, for example, outspeeding and KOing a Staryu at 60%.

Team Options
========
Mudbray has trouble dealing with a number of Pokemon, such as Koffing and Foongus, so it appreciates teammates such as Ponyta that counter these Pokemon. Mudbray also appreciate Pokemon that can set entry hazards, such as Onix and Pawniard, to do chip damage and break Focus Sash and Sturdy so Mudbray can sweep easily. Entry hazards also pressure Flying-types that are immune to Earthquake such as Vullaby. On the same page, Mudbray appreciates Knock Off users such as Mienfoo and Pawniard, as they soften up foes and remove their Eviolites; Mienfoo could also play the role of a general pivot, while Pawniard can be a great Stealth Rock user. Finally, since Mudbray will be switching in and out so much, it'll appreciate teammates that can soak up damage, specifically from Grass- and Water-types such as Ferroseed and Pokemon such as Koffing, Porygon, Pawniard, Ponyta, Vullaby, and Spritzee.

name: RestTalk
move 1: Rest
move 2: Sleep Talk

move 4: Heavy Slam
item: Eviolite
ability: Stamina
nature: Careful
evs: 116 HP / 116 Atk / 36 Def / 236 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Rest works very well with Stamina and Sleep Talk, as Mudbray can capitalize on all the Defense boosts it gets by recovering health and avoid staying idle during sleep turns. On the offensive side, Earthquake is Mudbray's consistent attack that deals especially good damage to Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Heavy Slam is a great coverage move, as it has 120BP against most relevant targets and specifically hits Spritzee hard. Finally, Rock Slide can be used to hit Vullaby hard and OHKO Wingull.

Set Details
========
Stamina turns Mudbray into an ever-bulkier physically defensive wall. A Careful nature, Eviolite, 236 Special Defense EVs, and 116 HP EVs prevent neutral special attackers like Abra from 2HKOing Mudbray. On the offensive side, the 116 Attack EVs ensure a 2HKO on Mareanie and even possibly an OHKO.

Usage Tips
========
Switch Mudbray in against resisted physical attacks so it can boost its Defense with Stamina, but be careful as to not receive too much chip damage to force it to use Rest, as Sleep Talk is inconsistent. If the opponent is only left with physical attackers, Mudbray may be able to wall all of them and win you the game. This possibility may force your opponent to play more carefully with their special attackers—use this to your advantage. That being said, try to ensure Mudbray doesn't take special hits, as they do a good amount of damage.

Team Options
========
Mudbray fits well on bulky offensive teams, as it's able to deal good damage due to its high base Attack stat while also being a great wall. Other Pokemon that fit this archetype include Spritzee, Pawniard, and Timburr. However, Mudbray is very weak to Water- and Grass-types such as Staryu and Foongus, which are able to 2HKO it, so Pokemon such as Ferroseed and Ponyta that can deal with them are appreciated. Galarian Ponyta and Abra are also great teammates, as they appreciate Mudbray checking threats such as physical Vullaby and Pawniard, and they can deal a lot of damage to Mudbray's checks such as Foongus.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Offensively, Mudbray can use High Horsepower to do more damage during Grassy Terrain, but it loses out on power when not in it. Defensively, Mudbray is a great tank and can use Toxic to wear down common checks or switch-ins. It can also use Substitute to soak up incoming damage, especially against physical attackers when it has racked up enough Stamina boosts. Substitute can also soak up status from moves such as Will-O-Wisp from the likes of Koffing. Finally, Roar allows Mudbray to check setup attackers such as Dragon Dance Onix.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Foongus and Ferroseed are able to 2HKO Mudbray with Giga Drain, while Mudbray is only able to 3HKO them after Giga Drain recovery. Foongus can also use Spore and put Mudbray to sleep; however, both Foongus and Ferroseed need to be wary of switching in on Earthquake. Grookey is an offensive Pokemon that Mudbray needs to be careful of, especially in Grassy Terrain if Mudbray lacks High Horsepower.

**Water-types**: Water-types such as Frillish, Shellos, Wingull, and Staryu are all able to deal massive damage to Mudbray with their super effective attacks, but most of them aren't able to switch in against Earthquake, except for Wingull. That being said, Mudbray is able to OHKO Wingull with Rock Slide, but is only able to 2HKO the others at best.

**Koffing**: Koffing gets 3HKOed by Mudbray but can reduce it to a passive wall with Will-O-Wisp.

**Vullaby**: Vullaby is immune to Earthquake, but it has to be wary of Mudbray's coverage moves.

Amcheck, make changes if you want. The main things to change imo are the overview, and to add a stealth rock set.
[OVERVIEW]

- Mudbray has the best base Attack stat in the tier (tied with Trapinch) Actually Krabby has the best Attack, just say it has one of the highest Attack stats in the tier, and don't mention that it ties with Trapinch, that's irrelevant.
- Stamina is a really good ability that makes up for its decent Defensive stat. The way this is phrased makes it sound like Mudbray has a bad defense stat, rephrase it so that Stamina boosts an already impressive Def stat. This ability is really good against pivot Pokemon such as Vullaby. Mudbray can also take a Knock Off without a problem.
- Mudbray's Special Defense stat is mediocre. Mudbray has really solid defenses; it hits 16 Spdef in your set below, which is really good.
- Mudbray has a pretty mediocre movepool that forces it to switch out against checks and counters. It has a really good movepool, with ground, rock, steel and fighting coverage. If anything it suffers from 4mss.
- Mudbray walls many of the tier's premiers attackers such as Timburr, Vullaby, and Pawniard.
Mention that it has access to stealth rock.
Mudbray has plenty of bulk and really good attack, its main issues are its mediocre speed tier and its typing.

Mention how its typing gives it weaknesses to common grass and water types.

Set Description Moves
========
- EQ is Mudbray's most consistent STAB move and deals good damage because of Mudbray's high Attack stat.
- Heavy Slam is a great coverage move as it does a lot of damage since Mudbray has a fat ass. It hits specifically well against Spritzee. Worth mentioning that Mudbray's weight gives heavy slam 120BP against all relevant targets.
- Close Combat can be used to 2HKO Ferroseed, but Ferroseed is able to possible OHKO Mudbray with Bullet Seed. CC is a bad idea on resttalk, and bullet seed only does 2hp to bray at +1
- Rest is Mudbray's recovery option. It works very well with Stamina as all the Defense boosts are still there. This should be the first point
- Instead of being idle during sleep turns, Mudbray can still attack with Sleep Talk.
Set Details
- Stamina is the ability of choice because it turns Mudbray into an ever bulkier physically defensive wall.
- The Careful nature and the Special Defense EVs are so neutral special attackers like Galarian Ponyta are unable to 2HKO Mudbray.
- The 116 HP EVs is to make Mudbray as tanky as possible.
- The 116 Attack EVs is to ensure a 2HKO on Mareanie and possible OHKO.
- The 36 Def EVs are leftover and are put here instead of Speed to make Mudbray even tankier. iirc, the def investment allows it to hit 14def, which is good because of eviolite.
- Eviolite is the item of choice to aid with Mudbray's bulk.

Usage Tips
========
- Switch Mudbray in against pivot Pokemon who use U-turn (mostly Vullaby). The attack does barely any damage and Mudbray gets a free +1 Defense.
- Mudbray is an extremely tanky physical wall and letting him tank not very effective attacks will easily build up his defense because of his ability. I'd clean this up by saying to switch Mudbray into neutral and resisted physical attacks, giving it def boosts without taking much damage
- Use Rest only when you need to. Using Sleep Talk is good but sometimes inconsistent with the attack you actually want.
- If the opponent is only left with physical attackers, Mudbray may be able to wall all of them off and win you the game.

Team Options
========
- Pokemon that can deal with Water-types such as Ferroseed and Oddish are greatly appreciated.
- Pokemon that can deal with Grass-types such as Koffing. Add vullaby
- Mudbray fits well on a bulky offensive team as it's able to deal good damage due to its high base attack stat while also being a great wall. Other Pokemon that fit this archetype include Spritzee and Timburr.
- Pokemon such as Galarian Ponyta who can be seen as a glass cannon on certain sets appreciate a wall like Mudbray.
- Mudbray is able to check NP Vullaby extremely well, so teams that struggle against it would love Mudbray.

Imo you should add a stealth rock set, something similar to
Mudbray @ Eviolite
Level: 5
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 116 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Rock Slide

- Stealth Rock
Although I'd check this with QC

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
- Choice Scarf Mudbray: Mudbray has the best attack stat in the tier. With proper EV and nature investments, it can deal a lot of damage. But it's low speed tier makes it vulnerable to speed boosted set up sweepers and other Choice Scarf users.
- Toxic: Mudbray is a great tank and can use Toxic to wear down common checks or switch ins
- Rock Slide: Can be used to deal more damage to flying types such as Wingull and Vullaby This should be removed if the stealth rock set is added
Close combat should be down here, or slashed on a stealth rock set
Mention counter

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-Types**: Water-types such as Corphish, Wingull, and Shellder are all able to deal massive damage to Mudbray with their super effective attacks while Mudbray can, at most, 2HKO them.

**Grass-Types**: Grass-types such as Oddish and Ferroseed is able to 2HKO Mudbray with Giga Drain while Mudbray is only able to 3HKO them after Giga Drain recovery.

Add flying-types / ground immune mons

AM check

First of all I believe that the bullets should be asterisks instead of hyphens. Anyway, let’s get to your analysis!

Mudbray's base Special Defense stat is mediocre.
Assuming that this talks about Mudbray’s downsides, I’d make this the last bullet. Also add that it is vulnerable to special attackers like XYZ (XYZ is any special attacker)

has a bad typing because of how common Grass- and Water-types such as Mareanie, Oddish, and Ferroseed are in the tier
Mudbray doesn’t need to worry about Ferroseed, since Bullet Seed can greatly increase Mudbray’s physical defense.

Earthquake is Mudbray's consistent STAB move that deals good damage because of its high BP and Mudbray's high base Attack stat
No need to mention STAB moves.

Counter can be used against the likes of Timburr and Vullaby and can OHKO them if they're already hurt to around 80%.

I believe this should be moved to OO since it isn’t in your moveset.

ly defensive
Fluff

This Mudbray set works really well on a bulky offense team that needs a Stealth Rock user.
First bullet

Rock Slide is a great coverage move that hits Flying-types such as Wingull and Vullaby. Specifically, it can OHKO Wingull.
No need to mention.

Earthquake is Mudbray's consistent STAB move that deals good damage because of its high BP and Mudbray's high base Attack stat
No need to mention.

Close Combat is able to damage and 2HKO Ferroseed which is able to tank Mudbray's other attacks.
This is too redundant.

Choice Scarf and the Speed EVs is used so Mudbray can outspeed Pokemon such as Vullaby, speedy Mareanie, Ponyta, Wingull, and Diglett and potentially OHKO them.
- Stamina is the ability of choice because it turns Mudbray into an ever bulkier physically defensive wall.
These are redundant. Remove this.

Mudbray would appreciate teammates such as Galarian Ponyta who can KO common checks such as Koffing and Oddish so it can have an easier time sweeping.
Like what? I’d mention Drilbur against Koffing and Ponyta against Oddish.

Heavy Slam is a great coverage move as it has 120BP to most relevant targets. It hits specifically well against Spritzee.
Again, this is redundant. Remove

Stamina is the ability of choice because it turns Mudbray into an ever bulkier physically defensive wall.
Redundant again. Remove

Switch Mudbray in against pivot Pokemon who use U-turn (mostly Vullaby). The attack does barely any damage and Mudbray gets a free +1 Defense.
This is another redundant.

First bullet.

Other Pokemon that fit this archetype include Spritzee and Timburr.
Is there a good and convincing explanation about this?

Mudbray is able to check NP Vullaby extremely well, so teams that struggle against it would love Mudbray.
Mention Pokemon that struggle against it.

Mudbray is a great tank
Fluff

Dragon Dance Onix
Add more examples like NP Vullaby.

Koffing gets 3HKOed by Mudbray, but also has access to Will-O-Wisp which cripples Mudbray's attack effectively making it just a wall.
Mention that Koffing can also block Earthquake thanks to Levitate.

I don't agree with many of your points tbh. First off, I don't think it matters whether its bullets, hyphens, asterisks, or whatever since this is pre-writeup.

I guess the major thing you wrote about was the redundancy between sets, but if I was looking up a particular set on the strategy dex, I might not read the other sets which is why I wrote the same thing about moves multiple times. Also, certain things (Counter) was asked to be included by QC (please read previous posts in the thread).

Also, do you mind putting your AMchecks in hide tags please so it doesn't spam the entire page. Just use [hide ] [ /hide] (minus the spaces)

Oof sadly I don’t know how lol

[OVERVIEW]
  • Talk about its coverage in the point about its attack stat
  • Specify that it only walls physical Vullaby variants
  • The last point only really applies to Corphish imo. I would just condense the last two points and say that it is susceptible to being outsped and OHKOd by common grass and water-type coverage
[SET]
name: Stealth Rocker
Slash Berry juice here

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • A little weird to call Spritzee a "check" since I think it loses 1v1 even without Heavy Slam. Just say it provides good coverage alongside EQ and hits Spritzee especially hard
  • The Counter point is a bit vague, since it doesnt specify what attack they have to use. Just say that it can be used to surprise timb/vull when they attempt to chip Mudbray
Usage Tips
========
  • Expand the first point to say that Mudbray can be switched in on all kinds of resisted attacks, including from Onix, as well as pivots
  • Specify that Mudbray's role is to deal damage while taking physical attacks - right now this description seems like you're focusing on Bray's defensive characteristics when it is generally a bulky attacker
  • Stealth Rock should be used on the switches that it forces
  • Talk about how many of Mudbrays offensive checks don't like switching into it, and to take advantage of this
  • Add Berry Juice
Team Options
========
  • The third point should be your first point (bulky offense teams that need an SR user)
  • Your first point is very unclear, especially with respect to your last point. I would remove the first point and add a point about partners that appreciate Mudbray's ability to check Onix, such as Vullaby
  • Also add a point about Pokemon that benefit from rocks being up, and add some offensive Pokemon that synergize with bray

Moves
========
  • Heavy Slam's biggest draw isn't hitting Spritz imo, it's being a midground option that is more powerful than rock slide but doesn't risk letting random flying types switch in

Set Details
========
  • Just say it can outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, no need to give examples
  • This set is not a wall - you don't need to discuss the HP/Defense EVs here, and you can just say that Stamina lets it take physical priority moves better in a pinch
Usage Tips
========
  • I would add here that this Mudbray set is less bulky than others and that it should be more cautious about switching in. That said, it is unusually bulky for a scarfer, so it can risk taking some physical hits.

[SET]

For the record I'm really on the fence about having this set at all. I (along with most of the QC team) don't feel that it's very viable, but given that it has a niche and might become more viable as the meta shifts, I'm going to have you keep it for now.

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Remove the point about 36 defense EVs - you don't need to account for them all
Usage Tips
========
  • Remove the pivot point and just say that it should try to come in on resisted physical attacks
  • Talk about not letting it take special moves when possible
  • Because this thing can wall all physical attackers in the endgame, it can force the opponent to play more cautiously with their special attackers. Use this to your advantage.
  • Be careful about letting it get chipped because of Sleep Talk inconsistencies

Team Options

  • This set does not check NP vullaby to my knowledge.

Write this up
[OVERVIEW]
Mudbray also has access to Stealth Rock and is the only Stealth Rocker that isn't weak to Fighting-types. This isn't strictly true. Change this in some way.
However, even with its good bulk and Attack, it lacks Speed and has a bad typing because of how common Grass- and Water-types such as Mareanie, Staryu, Oddish (remove) Foongus (add), and Ferroseed are in the tier.
Mudbray is also susceptible to being set up on by Corphish. (remove)

[SET]
fine. EV spread may be adjusted later.

Moves
========
Moves Mention High Horsepower for Grookey's Grassy Terrain. It is noticeably weaker however.
- Close Combat is a coverage move mainly for Ferroseed and Porygon (add) and can 2HKO it

Set Details
========
- Alternative EV spread of 36 HP / 196 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spe with a Jolly Nature specifically for Mareanie spreads with lots of speed. (remove)
- Berry Juice can be used instead of Eviolite as a way for very necessary recovery, I don't like this phrasing; it gives more value to BJ than I think is intended but the extra bulk that comes with Eviolite is hard to give up.

Usage Tips
========
- Switch Mudbray in against all kinds of resisted attacks including from Onix, and pivots to get a relatively free Defense boost.
- Mudbray's role is to deal damage while taking physical attacks and boosting its Defense. (remove) I don't think this is super useful to include
- Mudbray is a great soft check to many common Pokemon such as Timburr, Vullaby, and Scraggy.
- Mudbray should use Stealth Rock when it forces the foe to switch out.
- Mudbray's offensive checks such as Corphish and Frillish (remove) Staryu (add) don't enjoy switching into an attack.
- Avoid getting hit by Special Attackers such as Porygon which can easily take Mudbray's attacks.

Team Options
========
- Pokemon such as Vullaby and Chinchou work great with Stealth Rock, as they force out Pokemon such as Galarian Farfetch'd and Frillish, and they're good offensive options that can deal with Mudbray's checks such as Oddish, Staryu, and Frillish. Super outdated sentence. I don't think it needs to be said that sr is good.
- Pokemon who can check Grass- and Water-types that are able to OHKO (remove) threaten (add) Mudbray such as Ferroseed are appreciated.
- Mudbray also checks Vullaby quite well so teammates such as Oddish (remove) Foongus (add) and Galarian Ponyta appreciate Mudbray as a teammate.

- Pokemon that can deal with Grass-types such as Koffing (remove) and Vullaby
- Galarian Ponyta or Abra (add) are (add) great teammates (add) as it appreciates Mudbray checking threats such as physical Vullaby and Pawniard while Galarian Ponyta can deal a lot of damage to Mudbray's checks such as Oddish and Ferroseed.
- Mudbray is able to check physical Vullaby extremely well, so teams that struggle against it would love Mudbray. It's more of a general okay check to physical attackers. This set wants to prey on pawniard onix mienfoo builds without a Recover Pokemon to deal with Mudbray's longevity

overview
  • I wouldn't lead off with this sentence about Mudbray's attack stat. I would put something here that's more general about Mudbray's role - its bulk, strength, rocks, etc
  • I don't think it's accurate to say Mudbray has a bad typing at all - I would instead say that common Water and Grass types can take advantage of Mudbray. I would also mention that Mudbray's bulk is offset by its lack of resistances
  • I think you can afford to be less specific with these example's of Mudbray's bulk - the important notes are that Mudbray has a ton of bulk, both physical and special, to take neutral hits and soft check a lot of threats
  • Mention that Mudbray can be difficult to fit as a rocker because its defensive role compression is often not as effective as other rockers (Onix with Vullaby, Pawniard with special attackers)

rocks
  • slash Rock Slide behind Close Combat as well
  • I would throw this High Horsepower comment down into OO, as Mudbray pretty much never wants to run this
  • Mention that Heavy Slam is a good midground that hits Vullaby on the switch. Mention that while rock slide is better against Vullaby/Gull, it requires more prediction
  • I would just say Counter is an option rather than putting it next to Close Combat
  • say maximum attack investment and mention that it lets you hit hard in general
  • mention that Mudbray can be used to offensively prssure teams off of switches thanks to its great power and coverage
  • ditch this sentence about attack/defense in team options
  • Mention that Mienfoo and Vullaby can uturn well into Mudbray to generate pressure
  • I don't think Mudbray really qualifies as a dedicated Vullaby check, especially with juice; i would instead say here that Mudbray fits well on teams that need a broad check to threats while role compressing with rocks

  • remove "To go along with that"
  • remove this first sentence about switching out on usage tips
  • mention that Mudbray should be used in high-leverage situations where Heavy slam/CC can be used to pressure Vullaby or other ground immunes switching in to enable an EQ sweep later
  • Abra isn't switching into these poisons, I would rather put kanto pony here and make a broader point about pressuring grass types as well
  • i think the emphasis on Scarf Bray taking hits is overstated
  • I would get rid of the Focus Sash point since the most common sash mon doesn't take hazard damage
  • Instead of a list of damage sponges, I would specify pokemon that switch well into grass-types and birds, like Pawn/Pony/Vull

Not quite sure what you mean by: "Abra isn't switching into these poisons, I would rather put kanto pony here and make a broader point about pressuring grass types as well" I don't think I ever mention poison except in OO. Other than that, I've implemented everything.

I mean to say that Abra is not comfortable switching into Koffing or Foongus, so it doesn't really pressure these mons in the best way beyond being bale to kill them. What I would rather that sentence do is describe some stuff that switches well into the stuff that forces Mudbray out - poisons and grasses.

  • Mention Counter's synergy with berry juice
  • Rather than saying "High Horsepower can be used over Earthquake," which might cause some confusion about whether it could replace EQ on the moveset, specify that you can run it over a coverage move and use it while Grassy Terrain is up
  • I know I said to remove the Attack stat sentence, but this is now an overly pessimistic first sentence of the overview. Say something off the top about how Mudbray's combination of bulk and power makes it effective.

[OVERVIEW]
Mudbray has access to Stealth Rock and (obvious) is the one of the only viable Stealth Rockers that isn't weak to Fighting-types and its combination of bulk and power makes it an effective Stealth Rocker. However, due to its defensive role compression, there are better Stealth Rockers such as Onix and Pawniard. Its ability, Stamina, is great against pivot Pokemon such as Vullaby whose U-turn boosts Mudbray's already impressive Defensive and Fake Out users such as Mienfoo. Because of Mudbray's bulk, it walls checks (It doesn't really wall them) many of the tier's premier attackers such as Timburr, physical Vullaby, and Pawniard and is a soft check for many other threats. It also has one of the best Attack stats in the tier and has good coverage moves such as Heavy Slam, Close Combat, and Rock Slide. However, even with its good bulk and Attack, it lacks Speed and resistances and is often taken advantage of by common Water- and Grass-types such as Staryu and Grookey Foongus.

Moves
========
Mudbray plays the role of a Stealth Rocker with this set so Stealth Rock is a must. Earthquake is Mudbray's STAB attack that deals good damage especially to Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Heavy Slam is great as it hits at 120 BP against most Pokemon and provides good coverage alongside Earthquake and hits Spritzee very hard. Furthermore, Heavy Slam is a good midground to hit Vullaby hard. On the other hand, Rock Slide can be used over Heavy Slam to hit Vullaby harder and to OHKO Wingull, but this would require more prediction. Close Combat is for Ferroseed and Porygon and can 2HKO both. Finally, Counter is another option as a surprise, against Timburr, Mienfoo, and Vullaby when they try to deal chip damage and works well with Berry Juice as Mudbray will be taking hits.

Set Details
========
The Adamant nature and 196 Attack EV investment lets Mudbray hit as hard as possible. 116 HP and 36 Def EVs and Eviolite gives Mudbray the bulk it needs to survive as long as possible and rack up as many Stamina Defense boosts as possible while the Speed investment is so it can outspeed no Speed investment Mareanie and Timburr. Stamina is the ability of choice because it turns Mudbray into an ever bulkier physically defensive wall. Finally, Berry Juice can be used instead of Eviolite as a way to recover HP, but the extra bulk that comes with Eviolite is almost impossible to give up.

Usage Tips
========
Mudbray can be used to offensively pressure teams off of switches thanks to its power and coverage. You can also switch Mudbray in against all kinds of resisted attacks including from Onix, and pivots to get a Defense boost from Stamina. This means that Mudbray is a great soft check to many common physical Pokemon such as Timburr, Vullaby, and Scraggy. Against these checks and on free turns, Mudbray should use Stealth Rock so they can rack up as much damage as possibe. Also, keep in mind that Mudbray's offensive checks such as Corphish Grookey and Staryu don't enjoy switching into an attack so play around that. To ensure Mudbray's survivability, avoid getting hit by Special Attackers such as Porygon which can easily take Mudbray's attacks. (not really true)

Team Options
========
This Mudbray set works really well on a bulky offense team that needs a broad check to threats and a Stealth Rocker. However, it has trouble against Grass- and Water-types which threaten Mudbray so Pokemon that check the aforementioned threats such as Ferroseed are appreciated. Teammates that appreciate an Onix check such Vullaby appreciate Mudbray. Also, U-turn users such as Mienfoo and Vullaby can U-turn into Mudbray to apply pressure.

Moves
========
Mudbray's STAB move, Earthquake, hits hard, especially against popular Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Next, Close Combat can 2HKO checks such as Ferroseed which is able to tank Mudbray's other attacks. It can also hit Porygon hard and it hits Vullaby decently as well. Another coverage move, Heavy Slam, hits harder than Rock Slide against neutral targets and does a good amount of damage to Flying-types that switch in. However, if you're confident in your predictions, clicking Rock hits Flying-types hits Vullaby hard and OHKOes Wingull. A final coverage option, High Horsepower is a weaker move that can be used as a coverage option to do more damage against foes when Grassy Terrain is active. - Specify that it deals more dmg than EQ under Grassy Terrain since ppl might be confused by this sentence

Set Details
========
The Choice Scarf and Speed EVs allows Mudbray to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. The Adamant nature and Attack EVs guarantees 2HKOs on Trapinch and Vullaby and allows Mudbray to deal as much damage as possible. Stamina lets Mudbray take priority moves such as Mach Punch from Timburr in a pinch.

Usage Tips
========
Mudbray should be used in high-leverage situations where Heavy slam and Close Combat can be used to pressure Vullaby or other Pokemon immune to Earthquake switching in. Then, Mudbray can sweep a weakened team with Earthquake in the late-game. It's also important to note that this particular set is less bulky than the others so Mudbray needs to be wary of what it switches into. That being said, it is unusually bulky for a Choice Scarf user so it can risk taking some weak physical hits such as U-turn from Vullaby. Mudbray isn't typically a Choice Scarf user so this set can surprise many players and can outspeed and KO a Staryu at 60%. (Probably move this up as the first sentence since this surprise factor really makes Scarf Bray Ok)

Team Options
========
Mudbray has trouble dealing with a number of Pokemon such as Koffing and Foongus so Mudbray appreciates teammates such as Abra and Ponyta, respectively, (Ponyta really isn't a Koffing check) that counter these Pokemon so Mudbray can have an easier time sweeping. Mudbray also appreciate Pokemon who can set entry hazards such as Onix and Pawniard that can do chip damage and break opposing Pokemon's Focus Sash or Sturdy so Mudbray can sweep them easily. Entry hazards also pressure Flying-types who are immune to Earthquake such as Vullaby. On the same page, Mudbray appreciates Knock Off users such as Mienfoo and Pawniard as they soften up foes and remove their Eviolites; Mienfoo could play the role of a Knock Off user and a general pivot while Pawniard can be a great Knock Off user and Stealth Rocker. Finally, since Mudbray will be switching in and out of a Choice-locked move so much, it'll appreciate teammates that can soak up damage, specifically from Grass- and Water-types such as Ferroseed, Koffing, Porygon, Pawniard, Ponyta, Vullaby, and Spritzee. (Reorder list; mention Vullaby and Koffing for Grass-type checks and Ferroseed and Grookey for Water-type checks)

Moves
========
Rest is Mudbray's recovery option. It works very well with Stamina as all the Defense boosts remain and instead of being idle during sleep turns, Mudbray can still attack with Sleep Talk. On the offensive side, Earthquake is Mudbray's consistent attack that deals good damage especially to Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Heavy Slam is a great coverage move as it has 120BP to most relevant targets and it hits specifically well against Spritzee. Finally Rock Slide can be used can be used to hit Vullaby hard and OHKO Wingull. (Not that good)

Set Details
========
Stamina is the ability of choice because it turns Mudbray into an ever bulkier physically defensive wall. The Careful nature, Eviolite, Special Defense EVs, and 116 HP EVs is so neutral special attackers like Abra are unable to 2HKO Mudbray. On the offensive side, the 116 Attack EVs is to ensure a 2HKO on Mareanie and even possibly an OHKO.

Usage Tips
========
Switch Mudbray in against resisted physical attacks so it can boost its Defense with Stamina, but be careful as to not receive too much chip damage to force a Rest as Sleep Talk is inconsistent. If the opponent is only left with physical attackers, Mudbray may be able to wall all of them off and win you the game. This may force your opponent to play more carefully around their special attackers--use this to your advantage. That being said, try to ensure Mudbray doesn't take special hits as they do a good amount of damage.

Team Options
========
Mudbray fits well on a bulky offensive team as it's able to deal good damage due to its high base Attack stat while also being a great wall. Other Pokemon that fit this archetype include Spritzee, Pawniard, and Timburr. However, it is very weak to Water- and Grass-types such as Staryu and Foongus Grookey, which are able to 2HKO Mudbray, so Pokemon such as Ferroseed and Ponyta that can deal with them are appreciated. On the other hand, Galarian Ponyta and Abra are great teammates as they appreciate Mudbray checking threats such as physical Vullaby and Pawniard while they can deal a lot of damage to Mudbray's checks such as Foongus.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Offensively, Mudbray can use High Horsepower as a coverage option to do more damage during Grassy Terrain, but it loses so much power when not in it. Defensively, Mudbray is a great tank and can use Toxic to wear down common checks or switch ins. It can also use Substitute to soak up incoming damage, especially against physical attackers, if it has racked up enough Stamina boosts. It can also soak up status such as Will-o-Wisp from the likes of Koffing. Finally, Roar allows Mudbray to check set up attackers such as Dragon Dance Onix. (Pretty bad; you would just click EQ most of the time)

Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-Types**: Grass-types such as Foongus and Ferroseed is able to 2HKO Mudbray with Giga Drain while Mudbray is only able to 3HKO them after Giga Drain recovery. Foongus can also use Spore and put Mudbray to sleep; however, both Foongus and Ferroseed need to be wary of switching in on Earthquake. Grookey is an offensive Pokemon that Mudbray needs to be careful of, especially in Grassy Terrain if Mudbray is only carrying Earthquake.

**Water-Types**: Water-types such as Frillish, Shellos, Wingull, and Staryu, are all able to deal massive damage to Mudbray with their super effective attacks, but most of them aren't able to switch in against Earthquake except for Wingull. That being said, Mudbray is able to OHKO Wingull with Rock Slide, but is only able to 2HKO, at most, everything else.

**Koffing**: Koffing gets 3HKOed by Mudbray, but also has access to Will-O-Wisp which cripples Mudbray's attack effectively making it just a wall.

**Vullaby**: Vullaby is a great check against Earthquake thanks to its typing, but it has to be wary of Mudbray's other coverage moves.

On the other hand, Galarian Ponyta and Abra are also great teammates(AC), as they appreciate Mudbray checking threats such as physical Vullaby and Pawniard while (AC), and they can deal a lot of damage to Mudbray's checks such as Foongus.

Other Options
=============
Offensively, Mudbray can use High Horsepower as a coverage option to do more damage during Grassy Terrain, but it loses so much power (I know LC has different damage rolls, but I'm looking at calcs and don't see much of a difference. Is the power gap "so much" big?) when not in it. Defensively, Mudbray is a great tank and can use Toxic to wear down common checks or switch(AH)-ins. It can also use Substitute to soak up incoming damage, especially against physical attackers (RC) if when it has racked up enough Stamina boosts. It Substitute can also soak up status such as Will-O-Wisp (capitalization) from the likes of Koffing. Finally, Roar allows Mudbray to check setup (removed space between "set up") attackers such as Dragon Dance Onix.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: (capitalization) Grass-types such as Foongus and Ferroseed is are able to 2HKO Mudbray with Giga Drain(AC), while Mudbray is only able to 3HKO them after Giga Drain recovery. Foongus can also use Spore and put Mudbray to sleep; however, both Foongus and Ferroseed need to be wary of switching in on Earthquake. Grookey is an offensive Pokemon that Mudbray needs to be careful of, especially in Grassy Terrain if Mudbray is only carrying Earthquake. lacks High Horsepower.

**Water-types**: (capitalization) Water-types such as Frillish, Shellos, Wingull, and Staryu (RC) are all able to deal massive damage to Mudbray with their super effective attacks, but most of them aren't able to switch in against Earthquake(AC), except for Wingull. That being said, Mudbray is able to OHKO Wingull with Rock Slide, but is only able to 2HKO (RC) the others at most, everything else best.

**Koffing**: Koffing gets 3HKOed by Mudbray (RC) but also has access to can reduce it to a passive wall with Will-O-Wisp which cripples Mudbray's attack effectively making it just a wall.

**Vullaby**: Vullaby is a great check against immune to Earthquake thanks to its typing, but it has to be wary of Mudbray's other coverage moves.

[OVERVIEW]
Mudbray is the one of the only viable Stealth Rock setters that isn't weak to Fighting, and its combination of bulk and power makes it an effective Stealth Rock setter one. Mudbray's lacking defensive role compression means there are better Stealth Rock setters, such as Onix and Pawniard, (make sure "lacking" is what you had in mind) and it is often taken advantage of by common Water- and Grass-types such as Staryu and Foongus.

Moves
========

Set Details
========
The An Adamant nature and 196 Attack EV investment lets EVs let Mudbray hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========
Mudbray can be used to offensively pressure teams off of switches thanks to its power and coverage. You can also switch Mudbray in against all kinds of resisted attacks, including from Onix, and U-turn to get a Defense boost from Stamina. This means that Mudbray is a great soft check to many common physical Pokemon (physical attackers, you mean?) such as Timburr, Vullaby, and Scraggy.

========

Moves
========
Earthquake hits hard, especially against popular Pokemon such as Pawniard and Mareanie. Next, (RC) Close Combat can 2HKO checks such as Ferroseed, which is able to tank Mudbray's other attacks.

Set Details
========
The Choice Scarf and Speed EVs allow Mudbray to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. The An Adamant nature and 196 Attack EVs guarantee 2HKOs on Trapinch and Vullaby and allow Mudbray to deal as much damage as possible. Stamina lets Mudbray take priority moves such as Mach Punch from Timburr in a pinch.

Usage Tips
========
Mudbray should be used in high-leverage situations where Heavy Slam and Close Combat can be used to pressure Vullaby or other Pokemon immune to Earthquake switching in. Then, Mudbray can sweep a weakened team with Earthquake in the late-game. This particular set is less bulky than the others, so Mudbray needs to be wary of what it switches into, but it is unusually bulky for a Choice Scarf user, so it can risk taking some weak physical hits such as U-turn from Vullaby. Mudbray isn't typically a Choice Scarf user, so this set can surprise many players, (RC) for example by, (AC) for example, (AC) outspeeding and KOing a Staryu at 60%.

Team Options
========
Mudbray has trouble dealing with a number of Pokemon, such as Koffing and Foongus, so Mudbray it appreciates teammates such as Ponyta that counter these Pokemon. On the same page, Mudbray appreciates Knock Off users such as Mienfoo and Pawniard, as they soften up foes and remove their Eviolites; Mienfoo could also play the role of a general pivot, (AC) while Pawniard can be a great Stealth Rock user.

Moves
========

Set Details
========
Stamina turns Mudbray into an ever-bulkier physically defensive wall. The A Careful nature, Eviolite, 236 Special Defense EVs, and 116 HP EVs prevent neutral special attackers like Abra from 2HKOing Mudbray. On the offensive side, the 116 Attack EVs ensure a 2HKO on Mareanie and even possibly an OHKO.

Usage Tips
========
Switch Mudbray in against resisted physical attacks so it can boost its Defense with Stamina, but be careful as to not receive too much chip damage to force a it to use Rest, as Sleep Talk is inconsistent. If the opponent is only left with physical attackers, Mudbray may be able to wall all of them off and win you the game. This possibility may force your opponent to play more carefully with their special attackers—use this to your advantage. That being said, try to ensure Mudbray doesn't take special hits, as they do a good amount of damage.

Team Options
========
