Murkrow,Rising from NU

It's a rare sight to see in OU nowadays, Murkrow. Not that people use it but with proper support, this frickin' bird destroys teams. Just not in the way you would imagine. After watching some old wifi videos on You Tube, I found myself fascinated by a specific set, Perish Trapping. Its ability to slice through defenses, items and speed of the opponent just really appealed to me. So anyways, I hope you enjoy!

The Team:

Tentacruel@Black Slidge
Trait:Rain Dish
252 HP/252 Spe/4 Def
Timid Nature
-Toxic Spikes
-Scald
-Rapid Spin
-Knock Off

This guys job is to get t-spikes up as quick as possible explaining the max speed EVs. Poison works well with Murkrow in case i cant successfully stall 3 turns of Perish Song. Tentacruel Scald is for catching things that can't get poisoned (Mence, Gliscor, Gyarados etc) and I would rather have burned as well as steels. Rapid spin for obvious reasons since it hurts Murkrow a lot. It's also really nice to have Knock Off as well, since I can scout out exactly what item they are running with out consequence, and potentially make them lose lefties, choice items, berries and making them much easier to deal with.

File:488Cresselia.png

Cresselia@Light Clay
Trait:Levitate
252 HP/128 Def/128 Def
Bold Nature
-Hidden Power Fighting
-Moonlight
-Light Screen
-Reflect

The dual screener for the team an does a phenomenal job at it. Cresselia is the Queen of all walls, dominating in both sides of defenses. Cress easily sets up screens for the rest of the team, mostly Murkrow since he only needs 3 turns of protection before he has to switch out. HP Fighting is there to hit T-Tar since he preys on cress and Latios and is good for surprise hits. Moonlight is there so I can recover some damage at least and continue to create screens for the rest of the team.

File:381Latios.png

Latios@Choice Scarf
Trait:Levitate
4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Draco Meteor
-Hidden Power Fire
-Surf
-Psyshock

One of the best revenge killers in the game imo due to its impressive speed, destructive Spec Attack and a great neutral STAB, barring steels. I chose to run Latios over other dragons since it doesn't have a crippling x4 weakness to Ice, not to mention its faster so it outspeeds +1 D-Dancers and other scarfers. HP fire so it can hit steels (most importantly ferrothorn and scizor). Surf hits Heatran and is great against the most used weather in the game. Psyshock is a great secondary stab to have to hit special walls on their weaker defense.

File:286Breloom.png

Breloom@Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
152 HP/252 Atk/108 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Spore
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Seed Bomb

Really, the only reason I have Breloom is because it had Spore. It cripples anything on the opponents team for, basically, the rest of the match. After, this allows me to switch out to Murkrow to "trap" it, or something out. I like sub punch loom cuz it pulls its weight really well late game and is bulkier than TechLoom. After Murkrow gets rid of a couple threats, Latios and Breloom together just clean up so nicely with a little bit of support from Cress and Rachi.

File:385Jirachi.png

Jirachi@Leftovers
Trait:Serene Grace
252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish Nature
-Iron Head
-Ice Punch
-Wish
-Fire Punch/Thunder Wave

Every team needs a steel type these days, dragons are everywhere! Well, it's not like this wasn't true before. Jirachi is my go to Pokemon for a dragon counter, doing its job so well with good bulk and Ice Punch. I chose the physically defensive one in order to sponge Outrages and a variety of other physical attacks running around the meta game. Iron Head for STAB and for flinching (lol), Ice Punch for killing dragons and Wish to pass health to its team mates. Any ground and fire attacks are easily sponged by Murkrow, Latios or Cresselia. I chose to run Fire Punch on the last slot in order to hit steel types, most notably scizor, ferrothorn and magnezone for SE damage.

Lil' Hat (Murkrow)@Eviolite
Trait:Prankster
252 HP/248 SpD/8 Def
Calm Nature
-Perish Song
-Mean Look
-Substitute
-Roost

The star of the show, Murkrow is named after Kwandaoren66's Murkrow, this thing is amazing. It's simple and fun to use and breaks stall so well. I've made many teams that struggled with Pass teams but Murkrow is probably the best answer, cutting through any speed and defensive boosts with Perish Song. Switch it in safely, which is really easy with its decent bulk, Sub,Mean Look, Perish Song, stall, switch out and repeat. I gave it max special Ev's because Murkrow doesn't like staying in on fighting types after using roost, rock types, bug types etc so only use him on special threats and bulky things. Honestly, it's so satisfying when you're beating the opponent with a Murkrow. Seriously.

Anyways, thanks for reading about my team and I hope you enjoyed! Please do rate this team, there aren't any real threats since nothing really walls Murkrow but I'd really appreciate any input or advice given. Thanks in advance!

P.S. are the pictures working?

Nice team, its fairly solid. Also, good on you for using this Murkrow. It's one of the funnest trappers to use these days, because its so uncommon that no-one switches out on it. Speed doesn't really help Tentacruel get up the spikes, so I'd recommend going for a more standard set instead.

Tyranitar is less common than Scizor and still takes out Cresselia, so I'd recommend Hidden Power Fire over Fighting. Scizor is a bigger threat to your team as well, since it can Pursuit-trap Latios once its locked into anything bar HP Fire, and that's another reason I recommend HP Fire over fighting. Also, and this is a big one, Tyranitar gets a +1 Sp.Def boost from its own Sandstorm, which means that Hidden Power FIghting, off Cresselia's poor base Sp.A, doesn't do a whole lot of damage, needing 3 turns to get a KO, while Tyranitar only gets a 3HKO with screens up (Choice Band Variant.)
