VGC Murkrow

[OVERVIEW]

* Murkrow is one of the metagame's premier support Pokemon due to being the only Pokemon with Prankster and Tailwind. Murkrow also has a plethora of other support tools, including Haze, Taunt, and Perish Song.

* Murkrow is commonly used with Haze alongside Pokemon that drop their own stats, such as Gholdengo or Draco Meteor Hydreigon, or to enable Earthquake Garchomp with its Flying typing. Prankster + Taunt also safely shuts down Trick Room teams, although Murkrow must be wary of a potential Fake Out or priority-blocking abilities, such as Psychic Surge from Indeedee-F and Armor Tail from Farigiraf.

* However, Murkrow has many exploitable weaknesses, especially fearing powerful Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock-type moves in the format. It also relies heavily on its support moves, leaving it vulnerable to Taunt.

[SET]
Name: Tailwind
move 1: Foul Play / Brave Bird
move 2: Tailwind
move 3: Haze
move 4: Taunt / Quash
item: Eviolite / Focus Sash / Covert Cloak
ability: Prankster
nature: Careful / Calm
tera type: Ghost / Dark
evs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 140 SpD / 52 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Foul Play punishes the metagame's strong physical attackers, most notably 2HKOing Adamant Dragonite and Garchomp. Brave Bird is an alternative option that handles Flying-weak Pokemon such as Meowscarada, Lilligant, and Breloom with ease.

* Murkrow's Haze allows it to check dangerous threats, such as Dondozo, Nasty Plot Gholdengo, and Swords Dance Garchomp. Haze can also reset its partner's stat drops from the likes of Intimidate, Parting Shot, and Snarl, or attacks that lower the user's stats.

* Taunt allows it to also disrupt support Pokemon such as Lilligant, Talonflame, and Amoonguss, as well as crippling Pokemon such as Iron Defense Garganacl. Quash is also a viable option to maintain speed control even in Trick Room, and it can neutralize threats such as Maushold and Garchomp in opposing Tailwind.

* Other viable, but not as prominent, options for Murkrow include Protect and Perish Song. Protect allows it to scout the opponent and block Fake Out. Perish Song is an interesting option that gives Murkrow a win condition alongside its supportive roles and can force switches before that.

* Eviolite gives Murkrow the bulk needed to stay on the field and disrupt the opponent with Haze and Taunt. Focus Sash can be used when Murkrow is expected to be KOed quickly, for example Murkrow can also hold Covert Cloak to bypass Fake Out.

* 52 Speed EVs allow Murkrow to get the jump on Annihilape in Tailwind, and the overall bulk investment allows Murkrow to survive Tera Normal Dragonite's Extreme Speed and Timid Gholdengo's Thunderbolt.

* Tera Ghost allows Murkrow to bypass Fake Out on sets not running Covert Cloak, while Tera Dark adds more power to Foul Play in rare late-game one-on-one scenarios and it keeps Murkrow's immunity to Prankster status moves.

[OVERVIEW]

* Murkrow is one of the premier support Pokemon in Series 1 VGC due to being one of the only Pokemon with Prankster Tailwind. Murkrow also has a plethora of support tools other than Prankster Tailwind, including Haze, Taunt, and Perish Song. Murkrow’s Prankster Haze allows it to check dangerous threats in the meta, such as Dondozo, Nasty Plot Gholdengo, and Swords Dance Garchomp. (Put this in the main set)

* Murkrow is commonly used alongside Pokemon that drop their own stats, such as Gholdengo with Make It Rain or Draco Meteor Hydreigon, or use its Flying-typing to abuse (Never say abuse) Earthquake Garchomp. Prankster Taunt also provides a way to safely shut down Trick Room teams, although Murkrow must be wary of a potential Fake Out or Priority-blocking abilities such as Psychic Surge from Indeedee-F and Armor Tail from Farigiraf.

* However, Murkrow does have its weaknesses. Murkrow has a plethora of exploitable weaknesses, most notably its weakness the powerful Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock- moves in the format. Murkrow also has an overreliance on its Prankster support moves, leaving it vulnerable if it is Taunted.

(Some of this just feels a little bit misplaced, like it should be spoke about in the actual set and not the overview. The point about removing ally stat drops could be part of the set's Haze point for example. I'd also argue Taunt is pretty shoddy at actually stopping TR cause they almost always have Indeedee-F or Farigiraf on these teams, but it's still a worthwhile point. Maybe worth including in the set too)

[SET]
Name: Tailwind
move 1: Foul Play / Brave Bird (Not a mandatory addition, but it exists I believe)
move 2: Tailwind
move 3: Haze
move 4: Taunt
item: Eviolite / Focus Sash / Covert Cloak (not mandatory again, but ignoring Fake Out is nice for a Prankster Tailwind setter)
ability: Prankster
nature: Careful Nature (Would be good to mention Calm, as minimising Attack is something if you don't have Brave Bird)
tera type: Ghost / Dark
evs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 140 SpD / 52 Spe (Changed this to 60 Def as even though it makes no functional difference, you now free up the 4 EVs for Atk which you can use for Brave Bird)

[SET COMMENTS]

* [Haze point]

* Eviolite gives Murkrow the bulk needed to stay on the field to disrupt the opponent with Haze and Taunt. Focus Sash can be used when Murkrow is expected to be removed quickly from the field. Other items that Murkrow can use include Covert Cloak to block Fake Out and Eject Button to give a free switch to another powerful Pokemon in the back. (Made the Covert Cloak point a set option cause it's relevant enough)

* 140 SpD allows Murkrow to hit a jump point, and 52 Speed EVs gives Murkrow the jump on Choice Scarf Annihilape in Tailwind. The rest of the EVs are dumped into HP and Defense to maximize Murkrow’s bulk. (I really dislike the point of the SpD jump point just cause it isn't doing anything of note. Love the Speed point and the final point can be reworded to say general bulk)

* Tera Ghost allows Murkrow to bypass Fake Out on sets not running Covert Cloak, while Tera Dark keeps Murkrow’s Prankster immunity and more power to Foul Play in the rare late-game 1v1.

* Other viable, but not as prominent options for Murkrow include Protect, Brave Bird, and Perish Song. Protect allows Murkrow to scout the opponent and block Fake Out, while Brave Bird utilizes Murkrow’s base 85 Attack stat to deal with opposing Grass- and Fighting- type Pokemon. Lastly, Perish Song gives Murkrow a late-game win condition that can also abuse Gholdengo’s Good as Gold ability giving immunity to Perish Song. (Made the Brave Bird point a main set point, as it's actually capable of just OHKOing stuff like Lilligant. Thiink for the rest of these points, you really have to mention how much of a cost it is not running Haze and Taunt)

(If we aren't mentioning it in the set, there's really little point actually mentioning it here)

* 140 SpD gives Murkrow overall better special bulk, and 52 Speed EVs gives Murkrow the jump on Choice Scarf Annihilape in Tailwind. The rest of the EVs are dumped into HP and Defense to maximize Murkrow’s bulk. (Think this just didn't read super well "overall better special bulk" being the first point. Think you could potentially say something like "52 Speed EVs gives Murkrow the jump...., and its bulk takes Choice Band Dragonite's Extreme Speed even when Terastallized, and Timid Choice Specs Gholdengo's Thunderbolt".)

* Tera-Ghost allows Murkrow to bypass Fake Out on sets not running Covert Cloak, while Tera-Dark keeps Murkrow’s Prankster immunity and more power to Foul Play in the rare late-game 1v1.

Perish Song is an interesting option that gives Murkrow a win condition besides supportive roles, and can force switches or outright win games after removing two of the opponent's Pokemon. Lastly, Quash is a viable option on Murkrow that allows it to maintain speed control even in Trick Room, and can neuter threats such as Maushold and Garchomp under opposing Tailwind. (Should ideally be mentioned with Taunt, as its in the same slot on the set)

Get these implemented and I'll give it a last check before we stamp

So couple of minor details: just be careful with your hyphens in Tera-[type] (remove these hyphens). Also in your credits, make sure the Grammar checked by: section is [[username, user ID]] with the double bracket.

Otherwise, we're all good to go.

* Foul Play punishes the metagame's strong physical attackers, most notably 2HKOing Adamant Dragonite and Garchomp. Brave Bird is an alternative option that handles the Flying- weak Flying-weak Pokemon such as Meowscarada, Lilligant, and Breloom with ease.

* Murkrow's (fixed curly apostrophe to straight) Haze allows it to check dangerous threats in the meta, such as Dondozo, Nasty Plot Gholdengo, and Swords Dance Garchomp. Haze also allows Murkrow to can also reset its partner's stat drops from the likes of Intimidate, Parting Shot, and Snarl. Snarl, or attacks that lower the user's stats.

* Taunt also allows it to also disrupt support Pokemon such as Lilligant and Talonflame, while also Talonflame, and (add a TR setter here imo) , as well as crippling Pokemon such as Iron Defense Garganacl. Quash is also a viable option on Murkrow that allows it to maintain speed control even in Trick Room, (AC) and can neuter it can neutralize threats such as Maushold and Garchomp under in opposing Tailwind.

* Other viable, but not as prominent, options for Murkrow include Protect and Perish Song. Protect allows it to scout the opponent and block Fake Out. Perish Song is an interesting option that gives Murkrow a win condition alongside its supportive roles, once four foes are removed, and can force switches before that. (i used "four" instead of "two" because, if opp still has 3+ mons, cant one or both switch out? if im missing something there or elsewhere, though, ofc correct me)

* Eviolite gives Murkrow the bulk needed to stay on the field to and disrupt the opponent with Haze and Taunt. Focus Sash can be used when Murkrow is expected to be removed quickly from the field. KOed quickly, for example (imo give an example / elaborate on when youd expect murkrow to be KOed quickly, eg "when it's primarily an emergency stop to setup sweepers" if that is true ) . Murkrow can also hold Covert Cloak to bypass Fake Out.

* 52 Speed EVs allow Murkrow to get the jump on Annihilape under in Tailwind, and the overall bulk investment allows Murkrow to live Tera-Normal survive Tera Normal Dragonite's Extreme Speed and Timid Gholdengo's Thunderbolt.

* Tera Ghost allows Murkrow to bypass Fake Out on sets not running Covert Cloak, while Tera Dark keeps Murkrow’s Prankster immunity and mroe adds power to Foul Play in the rare late-game 1v1. rare late-game one-on-one scenarios, and it keeps Murkrow's immunity to Prankster status moves. (I imagine this makes sense?)

* Other viable, but not as prominent options for Murkrow include Protect, Brave Bird, and Perish Song. Protect allows Murkrow to scout the opponent and block Fake Out. Perish Song is an interesting option that gives Murkrow a win condition besides supportive roles and can force switches or outright win games after removing two of the opponent's Pokemon.
