My Attempt at a Sun Stall

Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 200 HP / 56 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Protect
- Disable
- Flamethrower
- Roar / Will-O-Wisp / Toxic

I like the disable set on Ninetales. It's particularly powerful, and it lacks the kind of bulk and resistances that the other weather starters have to keep as much longevity when choices. Protect + Disable makes it feel more like a team player IMO, not to mention increases its longevity. The 4th slot are moves I've tried in order. I didn't have Heatran for phazing duty at first, so I used it here once I forced a switch with Disable. With Heatran introduced into the lineup I started running WoW to cripple whatever I could, since Flamethrower wasn't really doing much of anything in terms of damage. The problem was when I ran into Fire types, especially something like last-Poke Volcarona, so I threw in Toxic in the most recent change. It's a nice for vs Water switch ins, but loses out in rain teams to Tentacruel and Toxicroak.

Old Times (Dragonite) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 108 SAtk / 148 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Tail
- Roost

Pretty much a sun adaptation of M Dragon's Dragonite on his rain stall RMT (hence why the nickname is still there and I'm only now realizing it). I wasn't sure how well it'd fly, but I wasn't sure about using Draco Meteor in this particular case, so I just made this up on the fly. I'd like suggestions particularly here, since I was honestly just trying to copy the aforementioned rain stall dragonite.

Volcarona (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 224 HP / 32 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Morning Sun
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance

Playing around with this, the EVs of the bulky Volcarona was too slow for me. Hoping a decent amount of its defensive capabilities (I haven't crunched the numbers) stay with this adaptation, as I was aiming to keep the the stall theme through its longevity while backing the team up with at least a little bit of power.

Forretress (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Rapid Spin
- Volt Switch
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball

I don't like Shed Shell Forry, so I need Volt Switch, but I can't let things like Tyranitar/Terrakion/Haxorus set up too much, so I keep Gyro Ball. Toxic Spikes would be nice, but I prefer this trade off.

Heatran (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Protect

Makes a nice special tank pairing with Latias, covering each other's weaknesses perfectly. This is my number one defense against opposing Fire types through Stealth Rock and Roar, shrugging off most HP Grounds/Fightings and Earth Powers like a boss.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

See above. Opting for HP Fighting over Fire so I can better deal with Heatran and Tyranitar. I figure that I have enough protection from Scizor that HP Fire would be negligible.

Fire types are a pain so far. I can generally work around them, but last Poke Volcarona or Flash Fires like Heatran and Chandelure make life hell if Latias or at least Volcarona aren't still alive.

Hey Umby, nice sun team. As a suggestion for Dragonite, why not run a physical set instead of special, since you already have many special attackers, and a physical set with Dragon Dance will help you with your weakness to Rotom-W who can OHKO everything except Dragonite and can Trick Latias.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
252 Hp/252 Spe/4 Atk
Careful
-Fire Punch
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Tail
-Extremespeed/Brick Break

This set has the same core principles of your set, except it is slightly more offensive. Dragon Dance will allow you to inflict heavy damage to Rotom-W and other common defensive threats. Fire Punch to replace Fire Blast. Dragon Tail stays, and Extremespeed vs. Brick Break is basically priority vs. coverage. Test it out, I hope you will like it.

Good Luck Umby

I disagree with Dragone, as i dont think that the the fact that you dont have physical sweepers is the problem, but the moveset. Focus blast is generally bad a on a defensive poke because u want a consistent way to deal damage, as is true about Fire Blast.

Your team needs a spin blocker, as all the work your forretress does setting up hazards, will be ruined in one turn. Finally, this isnt really a stall team, this is kind of just a mid ranged team.

Nice start, Umby! Really like the incorporation of Dragonite.

Although M Dragon's set comes close, I think you're really looking for the SubRoost set utilized by yee. Definitely try this over Focus Blast - it will make Dragonite a bitchin stalling machine. It will also probably help you better deal with Heatran and Volcarona (watch out for Flame Body), too.

Sir is right - you need a ghost. Jellicent is probably the most stellar one to use, but I can see Chandelure being even more useful for checking Volcarona. I'd still go with Jellicent, because you need a good Water resist. I'd replace Latias for Jellicent.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef | Bold Nature
~ Night Shade
~ Will-o-Wisp / Toxic
~ Taunt
~ Recover

Will-o-Wisp lets you beat Terrakion, whereas Toxic let's you beat Volcarona. I personally feel Heatran and Dragonite is enough Volcarona coverage for one team, so I suggest going with Wisp.

Chandelure seems like a perfect fit for this team -- it solves most of your problems with little effort while really abusing sun. It walls most Volcarona hard, while smacking it with extremely strong sun-boosted Fire Blasts; it blocks spin, making facing opposing stall easier; and it can lure + beat Heatran. The exact set I had in mind is Substitute / Fire Blast / Shadow Ball / HP Ground, which is just brutal with hazard + sun support. While your Dragonite is pretty cool and would become alot more effective with Sub, I think he'd be the one to replace if you do go with Chandelure, since he's contributing the least to the team and Chand brings alot more to the table.
Cresselia @ Leftovers | Bold | 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Calm Mind | Moonlight | Psyshock | Hidden Power [Fire]

This set is perfect for your team. Sun is the best weather for Cresselia; Ninetales does a fine job of dispatching Tyranitar, and the boosted HP Fire means Scizor won't be bothering you anytime soon. Moonlight also gives you 75% recovery under sunlight. The last boon this Cress has is being a pretty much 100% Reuniclus counter. If you want to try this, I recommend using it over Latias so your synergy'll remain mostly the same.

I just came here to state my appreciation for this team. Sun stall, who would have thunk? Anyway, you need a spin blocker as most have said here, but since Sun doesn't deal damage each turn and you need to slowly eat away the enemies HP and not just by entry hazards, why not an extra Toxic user like Gengar?

not much of a rate because bkc covered things well but i think you should try roar over hp fighting on latias if you keep it. right now you kinda struggle with cm reuniclus (in M Dragon's rmt, i read that dragonite is supposed to pp stall it, but i dont think thats reliable because a crit is bound to happen) and roar is great at dispelling it. you both cm up to +6 and then you get rid of its boosts and sweep. hp fighting isnt that valuable since ninetales lures and beats ttar. just an idea. good team

DD Haxorus is almost an instant GG, you desperately need priority, give DNite Extreme Speed over Focus Blast and preserve your Forretress if you see a Haxorus.
