My balanced (and first) RU team (Peaked 1434 on the Showdown ladder)

Hello everyone! I have been playing RU for a decent while right now and i have made a lot of teams and a lot of them worked very well. I like this team a lot, because it has a cool defensive AND offensive core.
Anyways, lets take a look at the team:

Rhyperior (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Atk / 232 SDef / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Protect

I decided to pick rhyperior for my team, because its not the most used RU pokemon for no reason, right? But no, seriously tho, this thing is amazing. It is a very reliable stealth rocker in this tier and his STAB combination is almost unresisted. This set has a lot of special defense EVs to be able to take hits from both sides of the spectrum and i chose an Adamant nature to increase the damage output a bit. It has protect to scout on common choice users (for example Rotom-Mow) and switch to the appropriate switch. I have Earthquake for ground STAB and rock blast as rock STAB. I chose Rock Blast over stone edge, because it is more accurate and can break through substitutes.

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt

This thing is pretty awesome and underrated in my opinion. I like this thing over other bulky water, because it has access to will o wisp and taunt. taunt is especially nice against those annoying stall teams and shuckles. This is a great special wall with reliable recovery. The EVs spread and moveset is very standard and self-explainitory.

hitmontop.gif

Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Close Combat
- Sucker Punch
- Toxic
- Rapid Spin

Hitmontop is my last pokemon of my defensive core. It is an amazing RU pokemon in my opinion, because it has Intimidate, great mixed bulk, access to rapid spin and access to many priority attacks. This is the main physical wall of the team, but it can also take special hits nicely due to his nice natural special bulk. Its EV-spread is self-explainitoryl. I have Close combat for strong STAB, Sucker punch for priority and ghost types who are trying to spin block. I have Toxic for stalling and Rapid Spin to remove hazards.

Delphox_XY.gif

Delphox (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Psyshock
- Grass Knot
- Shadow Ball

Delphox is my main special attacker in this team. It has great speed and special attack. Her movepool isnt that bad either! I have Life Orb to increase the damage output. EV spread is self- explainitory. It has flamethrower for Fire STAB and Psyshock for Psychic STAB. I have Grass knot for Rock types (Rhyperior specifically) and Shadow Ball for Psychic types, although i might change this to something else, i just cant think of something better. :/

Rotom-Mow @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Leaf Storm
- Trick
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Rotom mow is probably the best scarfer in the tier. I chose for Rotom-Mow too, because it forfills my Water-Fire-Grass Core. Volt switch gives great momentum and Leaf Storm for Grass STAB and raw power. Trick is to cripple walls and hidden power fire for coverage. Rotom mow also gives me a Ground immunity, which is very nice for this team.

Durant (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- X-Scissor
- Iron Head
- Superpower

My last member of this team is Durant. This thing hits insanely hard! Even without a hone claws boost, this thing 2HKOes the most part of the tier. It brings a steel type in the team, thus a lot of resistances, which is nice. It has hone claws to raise its already high attack and his accuracy. It has X-scissor and Iron Head for STABS and Superpower for coverage. This thing has swept many teams late game. Its awesome!

Possible changes:

Even though Rhyperior is Powerfull, it gives a lot of weaknesses to the team. Gligar Fixes that problem and it gives another Ground immunity. Gligar also has reliable recovery, which could be useful in some situations. I like Rhyperior more for his power, but gligar might be a better choice for the team.

escavalier.gif
Durant is very powerfull and fast, which is obviously very helpful for this team, but escavalier gives my team a lot more bulk and still has a lot of power. I prefer Durant in this team though :]

Outro:

Thanks for reading my team and please leave a comment to rate my team! I've put a lot of effort to build this team and i would greatly appreciate it if you leave a rating here!
Thanks for rating this team and see you later! :]

Hey, nice team, just a few changes I can suggest:
  • Change Protect on Rhyperior to Dragon Tail. While Protect is nice for getting Leftovers recovery and scouting moves/movesets, there are just way too many Pokemon that can utilize Protect turns to set up, such as CM Reuniclus, NP Slowking, or BU Gallade. On the other hand, Dragon Tail lets you phaze away anything that tries to setup on your defensive Rhyperior, and also spreads damage + hazard damage around nicely (very helpful for Durant, Delphox, and Rotom-C, all of whom really don't want to take a hit and would rather KO stuff).
  • Next, I would change Shadow Ball on Delphox to Calm Mind. Shadow Ball is rather redundant—most of the Pokemon it hits can be hit for acceptable damage by any of the other attacks. With Calm Mind, Delphox not only gets the ability to take on several Pokemon it could not before—such as Slowking and AV Meloetta—but also set up and sweep in the face of defensive teams, many of which have trouble handling CM Delphox.
  • Finally, I would put Rock Slide somewhere on Hitmontop. Sucker Punch and Toxic are useful, but both face important shortcomings that make both moves un-optimal at times. Rock Slide is extremely useful, however, stopping many popular and strong attackers, particularly Moltres, Delphox, Yanmega, Vivillon, and Sigilyph, from getting a free switch-in to something as perceptively weak as a Hitmontop. I would give up whichever move seemed less consequential.
That's all the suggestions I have for now—I hope this helped!

Hey i usually don't rate teams but cause i have nother better to do and this team looks like it could be p. good with some changes i'll give this a try :).

  • First off, i agree with CyclicCompound that Calm Mind over Shadow Ball will really help out your Delphox. Shadow Ball really isn't helping against anything relevant other than other Delphox, and Calm Mind is an overall great filler move that makes Delphox even better as a wallbreaker, letting it set up on things such as Aromatisse and forced switches. Fire Blast>Flamethrower is an option too, but it really depends on whether you want power of accuracy here.
  • I'd definitely run Foresight over Sucker Punch on Hitmontop. Unstabbed Sucker Punch off of 0 attack investment is just too weak and unreliable to be worth it here imo, and Foresight really helps Hitmontop out with actually removing hazards, completely ignoring the Ghost-type's immunity to the move. I find that Hitmontop has a hard time spinning effectively without this tbh lol.
  • I like Thunderbolt over Hidden Power Fire on Rotom-C. Of course Hidden Power Fire has its uses for Grass-types and Durant/Escavalier, but i really feel like a good cleaning move that doesnt lower my special attack or force me to switch out makes Rotom-C that much more effective later on in the game. Besides, escav gets worn down quickly by repeated Volt Switches and you can simply Volt Switch out into say Durant or Delphox on Grass-types, pressuring the hell out of them.
  • You also seem weak to Doublade. i know Rhyperior outspeeds it under Normal conditions, but two of your Pokemon are weak to Shadow Sneak (including the only one that can actually OHKO it), it gets plenty of opportunities to set up on Choice Locked Rotom-C and Durant, and some people even run Speed Creep on Doublade to outrun rhyperior and Iron head it before it takes an attack, potentially flinching. To start off i'd just run say 20 more Speed evs on Rhyperior to make sure you get the jump on Swords. Also, Crunch>X-Scissor on Durant helps out here, it hits a lot of the same targets as X-scissor while also hitting opposing Doublade and Jellicent harder than any other move Durant has, its still not breaking through any time soon, but at least Doublade cant just SD like crazy with nothing to fear, the residual Crunch damage WILL add up.

As for your suggested changes, i most certainly would not replace Durant with Escavalier here, simply because you seem a bit weak to Virizion if you do that (hitmontop can check but it gets worn down quickly and Rotom-C can't revenge unless its really weakened, even with HP Fire) Durant's speed seems to really come in handy there

EDIT: considering Hitmonlee (especially in webs) seems like an annoyance (not unbeatable but definitely an annoyance lol) a Doublade of your own>Durant might be something to consider too. This'd also give you a much better check to Virizon than what you already have atm and priority to take out Delphox. However this opens you up quite a bit to random shadow balls so idk if thats the best idea

hope i helped :).
