SV OU My first Attempt at a SV Team

I have kind of been learning what is good in SV Ou but don’t really know how to build a great team yet.I do think mine is ok but it has problems I was aware of when building.

https://pokepast.es/ce219afad44c7f21

I tried to think of a mon that I knew was very strong right now And I thought what could I do with Garganacl?
So I proceeded to build a team around a curse ghost terra type Garganacl

Garganacl (M) @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Purifying Salt
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Salt Cure
- Body Press
- Curse
- Recover
I figured with this build salt cure plus curse would ware down any opponent with ease.body press was for the dark types trying to hit my ghost weak and other ghosts only do half due to purifying salt and you can’t get statuses either so I thought it would be a Great Wall.the ippappa berry is for when you do use curse as a ghost after getting your stats up with curse you can have some health back as well as recover.

I was just remembering how Setting up is kind of hard unless the opponent is disabled by some means so I thought sleep was a good answer. So I added Amoongus.

Amoonguss (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Foul Play
- Spore

I figured a physically defensive build was better than that of being specially defensive because amoongus can tank hits from things such as Inihilape and Dondozo as well as eleminating thief buffs by using clear smog.giga drain also hits dondozo and foul play punishes both for raising attack.I saw water terra was really good for it so that what I used and rocky helmet for also punishing walls for hitting me.regenerator for longevity.

I was looking for a flying type at this point and it seems to be the only ones worth using are Dragonite and Corv so I went with dragonite seeing as it is a top mon right now. I just went with the standard for right now terra normal for punishingly strong espeed.

Dragonite (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Multiscale
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Dance
The heavy duty boots are so you don’t break your multi scale bc of stealth rocks.Dd for building up a dangerous sweeper after just two Dds sometimes.

I really wanted a fast mon the could do lots of damage as well as pivot. So I went with meoscarada.

Meowscarada (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- U-turn

The choice band is really great for huge damage paired with it always getting stab.I’m pretty sure this is also a pretty standard set but flower trick=broken usually always gonna click it.knock of to get items off and almost kill ghost Garganacl.Play rough for dragons mostly and u-turn for really good pivoting.I used terra grass for ultra strong flower trick.

I thought what is one of the most op moms right now and I thought of Chi-yu.

Chi-Yu @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beads of Ruin
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Flamethrower
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic

I ran the choice scarf variant bc in like oh hitting more times and not loosing to faster mons.Generally I know this thing will be banned but just wanted to use it before it was.Overheat 2 shots just about everything.Terra fire to make overheat overkill the rest is pretty standard.Psychic to kill stud like pex.

Finally Goldengo.

Gholdengo @ Lagging Tail
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Trick

I know Goldengo is kind of broken and I knew their was the sets with trick scarf but I wanted to use lagging tail to cripple my opponents fast mons switching in.I’d say the rest is pretty standard and ghost terra for a really nice shadow ball.

Thanks for getting this far
I would really appreciate feedback on how to improve as well as where to ad a defogger/spinner and maybe even a hazard layer in there to.I would really like to keep Garganacl Amoongus and Dragonite though if possible. Thanks for the help whenever you do.

Hi love the team, just a few things I'd change.
Change the garg set since body press + Spdef investment isn't going to hit hard and curse won't be useful since salt cure will be doing abysmal damage anyways. Curse is interesting with tera ghost and iapapa berry but the opponent could switch and then it would be wastefull.
Here's a better set.

Garganacl @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Careful Nature
- Salt Cure
- Protect
- Recover
- Stealth Rock

SR gives you hazard options and protect to rack up salt cure damage and leftys recovery and tera water to hard check ghold. You could put boots so hazards don't cripple it on a switch but I find leftovers more useful.

Your team lacked hazard removal so tusk was an easy fit, replacing meoscarada.

Great Tusk @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 52 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

Assault vest gives it special bulk and is a good hazard removal option, which your team lacked. If you want to keep meoscarada, you could slap boots on most of your Mons.

Finally, the ghold set is interesting, but might need a change. The team has the speed control to deal with faster mons so maybe a bulky air balloon set or scarf set?

I hope this helped!

Thanks this helped and glad you liked the curse set do you think the defensive synergy is there? I think it’s pretty good

mod edit: Does anyone have suggestions for the team for replacing Chi-you when it gets banned.

Try not to double post in a 3 minutes span next time please. You can use the edit button and add your question to your initial response.

Garganacl has a very cool set, which I think can really throw people off guard. First thing I notice with your current Nacl set is to go with this set instead of the one you have now, I don't know if it's better than the standard set (Protect, SR, Salt Cure, Recover) or (Body Press, Salt Cure, Iron Defense, Recover) but I do think it can be viable but you would need to implement Block over Body Press so no one can switch out while you're cursing the opposition mind you that this doesn't affect Gholdengo (Block or Curse)

Garganacl (M) @ Leftovers

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature

Nothing will be able to replace what Chi-Yu does from a SpA perspective but if you need a solid scarf user I would go with Rotom-W, adds another ground immunity, ability to trick opposition, great pivoter, and the ability to also induce status with either Thunder Wave or Will-O-Wisp.

:Rotom-Wash:
Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Thunder Wave / Will-O-Wisp

Thank you for posting your team and I hope some of my suggestions help.
