My First Competetive Team =D

dpmfa373.png
Salamence @ Choice Specs (or even sometimes Focus Sash)
Modest - Intimidate
252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Hp

~ Draco Meteor
~ Fire Blast
~ Hydro Pump
~ Sleep Talk

Yup, that be Sleep Talk in Salamence's last move slot, not because I couldn't figure out a last move for him but that Sleep Talk works wonders with this guy (as my lead). The usual Crobat and Gengars leads can go ahead and put Salamence to sleep with Hypnosis and then I can strike right back with my 120+ Base Power along with Choice Specs. I like this idea the best because not only does it prevent my opponent from putting the rest of my team to sleep but I can also still bring Salamence in and do Massive damage to virtually anything. I sometimes run Focus Sash because when Salamence wakes up after a Sleep Talk, he's forced to switch to get out of that move. And sometimes Focus Sash catches my opponent off guard say if they lead with something that has an Ice move somewhere hidden in the arsenal.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Calm - Clear Body ...would very much Prefer Liquid Ooze, but this is the ability I have in game =/
204 Hp, 172 Sp. Defense, 92 Sp. Attack, 40 Speed

~ Toxic Spikes (might swap out for Ice Beam)
~ Rapid Spin
~ Surf
~ HP Electric

This is basically my special sponge. I bring this in on the Ice attacks that are expected when Salamence (and I can guarantee I won't be seeing a EQ if I switch from Mence to Cruel). Toxic Spikes lets me set up, but I've had rough experiences with this in that once I get a Heracross's Guts activated, I've got no real counter for it on my team =/. I have several guys that can come in on a Close Combat or Megahorn, but they can't continuously take the beating. HP Electric lets me hit the Bulky waters obviously and Surf is for the STAB. I have had many instances where I WISH my Tentacruel had Ice Beam, and I'm starting to think that that move might be a more viable option than Toxic Spikes, at least for this team.

dpmfa392.png
Infernape @ Choice Scarf
Rash - Blaze
252 Sp. Attack, 216 Speed, 42 Attack

~ Close Combat
~ Over Heat
~ HP Ice 69
~ U-Turn (might swap out for Grass Knot or keep the egg move Thunder Punch... Here's an instance where I could use your guys' help >.<)

This is my Revenge killer, ScarfApe. Overheat will do Incredible amounts of damage to anything as long as it's at least a nuetral hit, and the Sp. Attack drop doesn't matter as ScarfApe won't stay in combat for too many consecutive turns anyway. What I love best is though, is that I can bring in SkarfApe to wipe out my Opponent's ScarfChomp, say when they're locked into an Outrage. HP Ice 69 is almost a guaranteed OHKO, especially with Stealth Rock. The last slot I'm worried about though, as I'm not sure whether to have it keep the egg move ThunderPunch (with only a nuetral nature and a handful of Attack Evs, it is sort of a wasted move as it only really hits G-dos pretty hard). I could also use Grass knot, which is better than Tpunch In my opinion, as at least it has more power to it with the Sp. Attack + nature and max Sp. Attack EVs. For now though, I have U-Turn on him so I can scout a little bit and still do damge to Starmie and Alakazam.

Damage Calculations
Hidden Power Ice 69 against 6/0 Garchomp: 91.90% - 108.10% (almost a guaranteed OHKO if you have Stealth Rock on the field and a Guaranteed OHKO if you have spikes down)
Hidden Power Ice 69 against 6/0 Salamence: 104.22% - 122.59%
Close Combat on 252/252 Blissey: 71.01% - 83.61%
Close Combat on 6/0 PorygonZ: 120.90% - 142.12%

Gengar @ Life Orb
Hasty - Levitate
216 Speed, 156 Sp. Attack, 136 Attack

~ Thunderbolt
~ Shadow Ball
~ Substitute
~ Explosion

This is the one pokemon I'm not sure whether to keep or swap out. ScarfApe can already wipe out Blissey for me, so I guess I keep this guy around because I can switch him in on a lot of stuff, namely EQs and Close Combats. I substitute on the switch and then try to hit stuff hard with my 2 attacks. Explosion is there for I guess Blissey, but can also wipe out most other stuff assuming it's a neutral hit. Need some Opinions here as to who I put in for this guy. It MUST be a Life Orb user, since this is the One spot on my team that I secured that item for (and most of the other useful items are already used >.<)

dpmfa437.png
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Relaxed - Heatproof
EV spread: 252 Hp, 112 Defense, 100 Attack, 46 Sp. Defense

(Has HP Ice 70 also)
~ Hypnosis
~ Stealth Rock
~ Earthquake
~ Gyro Ball

Ah, My Physical And Special wall. My team has a Psychic weakness, so it's nice to be able to switch this guy in pretty easy, which helps me set up Stealth Rock no problem and do some status inflicting as well. I put 100 Attack EVs on him so I don't always have to switch Bronzong out because I do lack pokemon that can take hits; this helps Bronzong be able to dish out very solid damage with Gyro Ball and EQ. I also bring this guy in on all the Heatrans I face, since almost all of them use Fire Attacks if they're scarfed, and Heatproof Really saves me ass for that. Plus, my opponent always assumes Bronzongs have Levitate, so they bring in their Fire-attacker anyway, giving me another turn to set up with either my status inducing move or I can just attack away. Also, If you guys think I should, I can opt for a Sp. Attacking Bronzong offensive set. This guy has HP Ice 70, so I can swap out the 100 Attack EVs for 100 Sp. Attack EVs so I can also bring this in on ScarfChomps and hit Very hard with that move.

dpmfa286.png
Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Adamant - Poisen Heal
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Hp

~ Substitute
~ Spore
~ Focus Punch
~ Seed Bomb

The most common OU pokemon out there, and what else is there to say but that Breloom really is that useful. I can come in on anything that is slower and expect to Sub or Spore, in which Blissey and Bronzong come to mind the most (from my experience). Not much to be said here except this is my only true physical threat on my team that is a great late game sweeper once I get that split-second to set up.

Positives:
~ Blissey is handled in many fasions with my Exploding Gengar, Sub/Punch Breloom, and ScarApe
~ ScarfChomp is also handled well with ScarfApe and even Bronzong to an extent (can take a beating, and If I wanted to the special set, HP 70 will do massive damage)
~ Need help defining my positives really >.<

Negatives:
~ Overall weakness to most pokemon that carry Psychic, since Bronzong is the only pokemon that can handle that pretty well.
~ need help defining this too =( (not saying my team has no weaknesses, but it's very late right now and I'm tired, so thinking is not my strong suite right now =P)

The Sleep Talk lead is interesting. I'm going to have to think about that one a little more for sure...in fact that could lead to a really nasty setup.

Out of curiosity, _why_ don't we see more ST Zapdos leading?

Quite a good job for a first team. Interestingly enough, Mixed Mamoswine with HP Fire can have fun with this team, especially in Hail. Your only way to get rid of it is to have Ape revenge kill. Nasty Plot Azelf can also wreck this team, as long as it packs Flamethrower for Bronzong. You said it yourself, once Heracross gets a Guts boost, you don't really have a counter. As such, SD Lucario can also be an issue if it gets the chance to set up. Another thing I noticed is that your "walls" don't have any form of recovery and you lack a true status absorber. A ReSTalker of sorts or something with Natural Cure could work. You don't have walls, per se, but rather two defensive support Pokes. If you can find a way to fit WishBliss or maybe a Wish/U-Turn Jirachi, you may find it helpful.

Gengar puts things to sleep well enough, and although Bronzong is a great Weavile counter, you may like the SR support from the likes of Gliscor, since it fixes your SDLuke and Hera problems while also being able to heal itself. The issue is dealing with Weavile then...

HP Fire only 3hkos in the hail. I'm pretty sure that the only way it'll ever 2hko bronzong is with specs and a modest nature.

Also, I really like the idea of Sleep talk specs. I bet it screws up Gengar leads a lot, huh?

A huge problem for this team is Life Orb/Expert Belt Azelf. Psychic/HP Ice/Flamethrower versions that are around would 6-0 this team if it wasn't for ScarfApe revenge killing it. In my opinion, replace ScarfApe for a ScarfTran. You lose the ability to kill Blissey, although with a team consisting of Toxic Spikes/BoomGar and Breloom it shouldn't be a huge issue. I also recommend you change SpecsMence to a LOmence, that way you can Roost if you Wish, beat Bliss and still be a huge offensive threat.

lol i have the same strat with my bronzong
everyone thinks its levitate so i use heatproof
out of like about 50 battles ive used it in, only like 3 people caught on
