My first competitive team - went 1-2

So, using this team, I won one match out of three. The first onw, I came very close to winning, but got killed by my own Life Orb. The second game, I was murdered by a Gyarados. Absolutely killed. Lol. The third game was close, and I just narrowly beat his Tyrannitar with my Weavile. Here's my team:

Starter:

Ninjask w/ Focus Sash
Jolly 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 6 HP
-X-Scissor
-Protect
-Swords Dance
-Baton Pass

My starter and support Pokemon, I usually go Protect-Swords Dance-Protect-Baton Pass, so that my other guys have at least 3 speed boosts and 1 attack boost. X-Scissor is on here so he can do something while he's being taunted.

Rest of the team:

Gyarados w/ Leftovers
Jolly 252 HP/ 176 Def/ 16 Atk/ 100 Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang

My Bulkados, he can handle most (if not all) threats with a single Dragon Dance. If I can't do that, I can have Ninjask Baton Pass into him, as Gyarados should be able to take any non-electric attack thrown at him.

Porygon-Z w/ Expert Belt
Ability: Adaptability
Timid 252 SpAtk/ 252 Spe/ 6 HP
-Tri-Attack
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Nasty Plot

My special sweeper, Porygon is incredibly versatile in how many enemies he can sweep. Even if they're resistant to Ice Beam or Thunderbolt, I always have Tri-Attack as a back up, which will always do 2x damage with his ability, unless it's resisted, even then it's neutral.

Weavile w/ Choice Band
Serious 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 6 HP
-Ice Punch
-Brick Break
-Night Slash
-Aerial Ace

Weavile was the first Pokemon I ever had bred for battle, and then I didn't know anything about natures. Ah well, at least serious is a neutral nature. Anyways, he's my main physical sweeper, and with Choice Band, can take out most threats. In my last battle, he just completely killed my enemy's Tyrannitar with one Brick Break. I love her :)

Dragonite w/ Life Orb
Docile 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 6 HP
-Outrage
-Fire Punch
-Dragon Dance
-Thunder Punch

I imported my Dragonite directly from FireRed, EV trained it real quick, and taught it some new attacks. With onw Dragon Dance, Outrage is nearly unstoppable. Docile is also another neutral nature.

Swampert w/ Leftovers
Hardy 240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SpAtk
-Ice Beam
-Protect
-Surf
-Earthquake

And last but not least, my Mixpert also has a neutral nature, and this one is on purpose. With Ninjask often switching into him, I don't want any stats (attack, sp. attack, or speed, namely) to go down when he gets the boosts.

So there's my team. Any ratings are accepted, and be honest when you rate. I'm going to have to get a new Dragonite/Weavile eventually, I'm just too lazy too do it right now.

Sadly, the best advice I could give is to start breeding and get better natured Pokes, unless most of these are high in IVs in the places you want, because Hardy Swampert isn't going to cut it. =[

Anyways as for the team, I think you should go to a more based Speed passing rather than attempting Ninjask. Something you can consider is like, a Taunt Rock Polish Baton Pass Gliscor. It can stop the Skarmories, and if there's a slower Taunter, you'll be on top. It could also help with Heracross/Lucario, granted you'd need Wish support, but we'll address that as well.

Gyarados is a keeper, but in turn, let's swap some Pokes out. I have to go all bogass standard, but Garchomp might fit better than Dragonite, as it's just as destructive, but at least you're not necessarily locked into Outrage (don't use an SD Outrage Chomp, that would defeat the purpose of this paragraph.) This also gives you a Rock resist, and more of something to go into Tyranitar.

But I had Swampert, Tyranitar was not a problem! you might say, however the second swap is Vaporeon over that Swampert. You can now pass the Wish around to Gliscor as well as Gyarados who might have taken some SR damage.

For the team, you have Gliscor, Garchomp, Gyarados, Vaporeon. Hardcore BoltBeam thing going on here. A remedy to this is, Magnezone. I'd probably use a more defensive one, special defense to be precise, to RestTalk against like Zapdos. You can also take care of Skarmory, which in turn opens up a slot for Gliscor if you want (Roost), a slot on Garchomp (Substitute), and you have more fun overall! As for the last Pokemon, I'd probably add like a Metagross, who now doesn't have to waste a slot using Agility since you're passing speed. Its quite bulky as well and it's coverage is great, so why not!

Thanks Aeroblacktyl, I'm gonna have to try out Magnezone and Metagross. As for Vaporeon, how do I get Wish on him? I know it's an egg move, but who can I breed with to get it to him?

You can breed Smeargle that has Wish with any of the Eveelutions to produce an Evee with wish. Now for looking at your team...

Your overall team lacks Synergy except for Ninjask baton passing to a physical sweeper.

Honestly I'd get rid of Ninjask, he works on paper, and in the game, until Ninjask get killed by a Priority move, or the pokemon you Baton Pass to gets murdered by a strong move. Anyways, while you are setting up, the other person can set up to, and thats not a very good idea. If you Ninjask gets hurt, he still survives with his Focus Sash, but then what happens when he needs to come back in and it's hailing, or there is a sandstorm, or rocks are on the field? I'd switch to a more reliable lead. Maybe a fast sleeper like Gengar.

Gengar @ Wide Lens
Hypnosis
Focus Blast/T-Bolt/HP [Ice]
Thunderbolt/HP [Ice]
Shadow Ball

would help you greatly, as it can sleep the opponents pokemon coming in at the beginning, and generally gets you off on the right foot. It's you can switch it out and use it through the whole game, as opposed to Ninjask, who is only really useful, especially when it gets down to 1 hp, at the beginning of the game.

Bulkydos looks good, except he needs to be Adamant, and he lacks STAB. Replace EQ with Waterfall, steel types, as if, Waterfall will take them down easily since it is neutral damage with STAB, boosted with a Dragon Dance I don't see why you would need EQ. I say keep Ice Fang over Stone Edge, no matter what others say, as it doesn't hit Flying types as hard, but hits all the Dragons you commonly come by so much harder, in fact, I think it will hit all of them harder, with the possible exception of Kingdra.

Porygon-Z is not using its full potential when you dont have it Sashed and paired with Agility, or have it Scarfed. It's a nice special sweeper but it's too slow, either give it Focus Sash, and replace Nasty Plot with Agility, or Scarf it and get rid of Nasty Plot for Dark Pulse, to hit Ghosts and Psychic types, Psychic to take out Fightings and Poison types, *cough* Gengar *cough*, or breed for HP [Fighting] to take out Darks and other Normal types, like other P-Zs.

I don't really like CB Weavile, especially without a Jolly nature. I'd re-breed for Jolly, to out speed threats like Starmie and Gengar, or Adamant, just to out speed dragons. I personally prefer the Jolly one. I think you should breed for Jolly, give it Swords Dance over Aerial Ace with a Focus Sash, so you have more maneuverability with your Weavile. You could also give it Ice Shard over Ice Punch to rain on Scarfchomps parade.

Get rid of this Dragonite. You already have 2 physical sweepers. He isn't doing his job right anyways without enough deffence to Dragon Dance, and Life Orb seems risky on him. Anyways, with the ammount of Ice floating arround, I'd say good bye to slow Dragonite anyways. Replace him maybe with a spinner, such as:

Forretress@Leftovers/Shed Shell
Relaxed Sturdy
252 HP 252 Def 6 Attack
Stealth Rock/Toxic Spikes
Rapid Spin
Gyro Ball/EQ/Explosion
Explosion/EQ/Gyro Ball

No real reason for EQ unless you want to lay the hurt on Metagross, and want something to stop Magnezone from raping you. With Shed Shell, you don't need to worry about Magnezone, and EQ isn't really needed, it isn't needed anyways, but it is carried to make sure Magnezone can't completely destroy your Forretess.

Ug, I don't like Mixpert, keep if you wish, but I'd replace it with a special wall, such as Blissey. Don't let the Blissey haters tear you down just because they can't beat it. It works, thats why they hate it. Anyways, in case you do decide to use Blissey, two sets include:

The Cleric Set
Blissey@Leftovers
Bold Natural Cure
252 HP 252 Def 6 Spd
Softboiled
T-Wave
Aromatherapy
Ice Beam

and

Wishbliss
Blissey@Leftovers
Calm Natural Cure
252 HP 252 Def 6 Spd
Wish
Toxic
Protect
Ice Beam

Lesha, about what you said about Gyarados, she already knows Waterfall. So, yea.

Also, what nature should Gengar have? I'm assuming Timid, or is there something else you had in mind?

No, it should have Timid, and I didn't see Waterfall >.< I assumed it was Taunt because I was reading it a bit too fast. Anyways, I would get rid of EQ on Gyara for Taunt to stop foes from trying to set up on Gyara or cripple him via status.

Welcome, to the pokemon metagame of TOMORROW! (futurama reference, I'll wait to see if it sets in)

All I'll say for now is to edit your team for what you plan on switching out so that people don't comment on pokemon that you plan on getting rid of. Also, as you reconfigure the team, take note of how many are weak to stealth rock. That move is so widespread that it has to be factored into any team.

your original 6 has 4 that take significant damage switching into rocks. Gyarados, Dragonite, and Weavile take 1/4 damage and Ninjask takes 1/2. Worst case scenario, 1 or 2 should be weak, and that's with a rapid spinner to wipe the field clean like Forretress or Tentacruel.
