This is my first attempt at even being in a metagame. So far I have done surprisingly well, ranking at 1501 on the ladder. My goal is to eventually go to the actual world VGC next year and at least do moderately well. So any help is greatly appreciated. I have been studying the metagame for about 2 months, and it took two weeks to come up with a couple drafts of my team and after a few edits I think I have a fairly decent team. But there is always room for improvement. Well... here we go.
Hippowdon @Shell bell
Trait: sand stream
EVs: 252/HP 252/Attack 4/SpD Brave
-Earthquake
-Fire fang
-Ice fang
-Crunch
Hippowdons role is to set up sand and hit hard physically and is usually paired with Reuniclus at the start to try and set up trick room as well. EQ provides STAB, fire fang is for coverage, Ice fang for dragons specifically Hydreigon who always screws over Reuniclus with Dark pulse and Crunch for a more powerful spread move.
Reuniclus @Life orb
Trait:Magic coat
EVs: 252/HP 168/SpA 88/SpD Quiet
-Trick Room
-Focus blast
-Psychic
-Protect
I needed a Bulkier Reuniclus to handle the constant fake outs, dark pulses, and sucker punches I get on him, so I took it out of his SpA allowance. Trick room sets me up for a sweet ride for my bulky and slow team. Focus blast pretty much takes care of rock and dark types across the board assuming it hits. Psychic STAB, and protect to either keep those dark pulses at bay or allow Hippos EQ to focus on the opponent.
Umbreon (Tron) @leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
Evs: 252/HP 252/SpD 4/Def Sassy
-Wish
-Foul play
-Toxic
-Protect
Umbreon has been my favorite pokemon so far, it stalls unreasonably well. It has its holes with fighting and steel types, but if I don't see either in the team preview I get a huge boost in confidence. Umbreon has single handedly taken on Suicune and cresselia in rain. Bested a number of sweepers, outstalled a Blissey and taken care of most of my battles. No one really expects it to come out I guess.
Landorus @Ground gem
Trait:Sand force
Evs:252/HP 252/Atk 4/Def Adamant
-Swords dance
-Earthquake
-U-Turn
-Stone edge
Landorus is my powerhouse, he is immune to EQ from Hippo, hits flying types hard, U-turns a lot. EQ for combination with either eelektross or rotom h. he is handy to have if another team has really fast pokemon in trick room because most people expect him to be fast. I dont get chances to set up swords dance enough but when I do he can barely be stopped.
Rotom-H @Passho Berry
Trait:Levitate
Evs:252/HP 252/SpA 4/SpD Modest
-Discharge
-Overheat
-HP Grass
-Protect
Basically your standard Rotom-heat. DisQuake combo, overheat for those pesky grass and Ice types, especially abomasnow who seriously throws a wrench in my plans. HP grass over Ice because I have barely any gastrodon coverage. and protect as a standard.
Eelektross @Expert belt
Trait:levitate
Evs:252/HP 252/SpA 4/SpD Quiet
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Grass knot
-HP Psychic
Eelektross Has been really handy too covering all of my pokemon and just being a general team player for any of them. Flamethrower takes on bronzong and metagross for umbreon, thunderbolt takes on the water types for landorus and hippo, grass knot can do some damage to ttar and HP psychic takes the fighting types. He's not too bulky but he hits well enough to warrant a spot.
SO there you have it. I worked on it pretty hard but I also just started so some pro feedback would probably help.
