My first competitive team

I just recently got into competitive battling via Pokemon Showdown. I have a very poor memory, and I still don't know all of the moves available to my opponent's Pokemon, and I also make a lot of mistakes. However, I win the majority of my matches, so I assume I have a good team. Here it is:

John (Dragonite) (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Thunder Punch
- Dragon Dance

I love switching into Dragonite after my opponent's lead Smeargle Spores Galvantula, and setting up Dragon Dances. I've found Weakness Policy to be very helpful, and it's saved me multiple times. Dragon Claw is a great Neutral or better attack to use after Dragon Dance, so even if my opponent switches out I'll be okay. Earthquake works very well on Pokemon such as Aegislash, and Thunder Punch is helpful vs. Talonflame and Azumarill, amongst others.

Shadow (Gengar) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Sludge Bomb
- Energy Ball

With wide coverage and great stats, I've found Gengar to be a great asset to my team. Not many people expect Energy Ball, and I've KO'd a lot of Pokemon with it. Sludge Bomb for great Neutral or Super Effective Coverage, Shadow Ball for those that resist Sludge Bomb, and Dazzling Gleam for Dragons.

Jeff (Galvantula) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Sticky Web
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Energy Ball

Galvantula is my lead. His main purpose is to use Sticky Web, but will often attack prior to this if he can do Super Effective damage. Thanks to Focus Sash he can almost always get off Sticky Web, and sometimes can KO the opponent's Pokemon thanks to his wide coverage. STAB Thunder works great against most Pokemon, and Bug Buzz complements it well. Energy Ball is great vs. the Pokemon that are immune to Thunder.

Kuki (Mawile) (F) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Brick Break
- Sucker Punch
- Stone Edge

Usually a late game Pokemon, Mega Mawile is very useful due to her great defenses, and ability to deal immense damage to a large variety of different Pokemon. I've gotten better at using Sucker Punch, and have KO'd many a Mega Gengar with it. Play Rough is my most used move, due to how many Pokemon it does at least Neutral damage too. Brick Break is a move I recently added that I've found to be extremely helpful. Last, but not least, is my newest move, Stone Edge, which I used to replace Iron Head since it wasn't getting much use, and has so far helped out a lot.

Anak (Arcanine) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat

My newest Pokemon, and one of my best. After KO'ing an opponent's Pokemon I am almost always prepared for the new Pokemon, and often KO multiple Pokemon at once. Extreme Speed is great when I know I won't be able to attack normally, or to finish off a Pokemon at low health. Wild Charge is a move not many people seem to expect, and I have experienced much success using it. Flare Blitz and Close Combat are my primary moves, though I often can achieve Super Effective damage with both, and have to choose which is best to use in the given situation.

Ran (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dazzling Gleam
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

My main counter to Fire types. Hydro Pump is very powerful and is a capable attack vs. many Pokemon. Dazzling Gleam is a new attack, replacing Psychic since it didn't get much use. Ice Beam is the only Ice attack on my team, and thus very important. Rapid Spin for Stealth Rock/Spikes and Sticky Web.

Dude your dragonite would be better with a focus sash as my experience with dragonites even with multiscale the get taken out by and ice move in a second u also would be better off with surf or waterfall instead of hydro pump because you are probably gonna miss with is 80% accuracy your starmie and gengar need 3 lines of description or an admin could lock this

John (Dragonite) (M) @ Lum Berry/Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Thunder Punch
- Dragon Dance

Weakness Policy is typically a very situational item to be honest as Dragonite is taken down by more or less every ice/dragon/fairy move going once multiscale is broken. With Lum Berry you can absorb one status hit that may prevent Dragonite from sweeping or leftovers allows you to recover passive damage in order to re-activate multiscale . The moveset is perfectly fine although either fire punch/extreme speed can fit into thunderpunch's slot just as well.

Shadow (Gengar) (M) @ Choice Scarf/Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Sludge Bomb/Substitute
- Thunderbolt/Disable/Pain Split

With wide coverage and great stats, I've found Gengar to be a great asset to my team. Not many people expect Energy Ball, and I've KO'd a lot of Pokemon with it. Sludge Bomb for great Neutral or Super Effective Coverage, Shadow Ball for those that resist Sludge Bomb, and Dazzling Gleam for Dragons.

If you're not going to run Gengarite then Choice Scarf or a Substitute set are the only real viable ways to use use Gengar this generation. Focus Blast is an absolute must despite it's accuracy problems, otherwise Tyranitar/Mega Absol and other dark pokemon will not fear switching into Gengar at all. It also dents most steels more effectively than Shadow Ball. Thunderbolt on the choice set covers the likes of Scarf Keldeo, +1 Speed Mega Gyarados, Greninja amongst other things. If you go for Substitute over Sluge Bomb either Disable or Pain Split work well with it.

Jeff (Galvantula) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Sticky Web
- Bug Buzz
- Thunder
- Energy Ball

No problems with this set at all.

Kuki (Mawile) (F) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Stone Edge

I've gotten better at using Sucker Punch, and have KO'd many a Mega Gengar with it. Play Rough is my most used move, due to how many Pokemon it does at least Neutral damage too. The only thing I could think of that gives you a chance against Aeigslash one on one if you need to. If Starmie is KO'd and Stealth Rock is still on the field your only two reasonably effective checks to Aegislash (Dragonite/Arcanine) are more vulnerable to a boosted Aegislash. It's a shame that Starmie cannot do an awful lot to it either. With Swords Dance you can predict around the King's Shield (which drops your attack by -2 for every contact move and acts like protect) in order to hit it hard, most likely KO it and then sweep.

Anak (Arcanine) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature

- Wild Charge

No problems with this set either if hazards aren't on the field.

Ran (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

Ice Beam is the only Ice attack on my team, and thus very important. Rapid Spin for Stealth Rock/Spikes and Sticky Web.

You have Ice Beam to deal with dragons. Thunderbolt is useful against water types that would otherwise easily setup.

One issue with your team is that when pokebank comes out terrakion will destroy half your team with a super affective move (and as for gengar that is destroyed by stone edge anyways)
