My first competitive team

I'm new to competitive battling. I've been playing pokemon for a long time but I just got into to competitive battling by watching some wifi battles on youtube :) So, I made a team. I know it's not perfect so I'm asking for advice.

1. Bastiodon@ iron ball Nature Relaxed
HP=302 ATk=131 Defense=458 SPAtk=131 Sp Def=298 Sp=69
Moves= Metal Burst
Block
Taunt
Stealth Rock

Bastiodon (Metal Rex) is my lead. I use him to set up stealth rock. Then, he pretty much becomes a wall. I have him hold the iron ball because i want to ensure he is the slowest pokemon on the field (so he can succesfully pull off metal burst)

2. Weavile@ Focus Sash Nature- Jolly
HP=273 Atk= 338 Def=151 spatk= 99 sp def=196 sp= 375
Moves= Ice Punch
Ice Shard
Brick Break
Pursuit

Your typical sweeper Weavile. I know my team isn't insanely original but It's my first team so I want to obtain experience before i make up my own strageties. So yeah, Weavile (Violette) is used for sweeping. I put in pursuit because If I can predict my oppenent will switch due to a poor type match up, I will be able to get some damage in. Ev's were 252 Atk 252 Speed and 4 hp

3. Venusaur@ leftovers Nature-calm
Hp=355 Atk=165 Def=186 Sp atk= 218 Sp Def= 297 Sp=181
Moves= Sludge Bomb
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Energy Ball

So here's my Venusaur (Leo). He's my special tank and he's potentially a good annoyer. I'm questioning sleep powder because it has bad accuracy and I'm debating over it's really worth it. Any suggestions?

4. Blastiose@ Lum Berry Bold
Hp=362 Atk 169 Def 317 Sp atk 201 Sp Def 235 Speed 192
Moves- Ice Beam
Rapid Spin
Toxic
Surf

Blastoise (GunsNRoses) Is my defense wall. Rapid spin is to get rid of spikes, stealth rock, toxic spikes because i hate them with a burning pashion (when used against me :P). I honestly don't like how low his special attack is (I figured out that it only has an IV of 3 :O
Should I breed another Squirtle?

5. Heatran @ Choice Scarf Rash
hp-311 atk=191 def-224 sp atk= 393 sp def=207 speed=248
Moves- Dragon Pulse
Earth Power
Explosion
Flamethrower

So yeah here's my Heatran (Amy). She is my special sweeper and your typical Scarftran. I chose Dragon Pulse over HP because I really don't have the time to research all that IV crap and figure out how to get the hidden power type I want. Anyway, She's scarfed because I want her to be faster than her opponent because I know she has a lot of weakneses. One surf or EQ could probably kick her back into Stark mountain.

6. Salamence@ Life Orb Adamant
hp- 320 atk=382 def=178 sp atk= 220 sp def=174 speed=298
Moves- Stone Edge
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw (will be replaced with outrage)
Earthquake

Not a Banded or a Specmence :)) My Salamance (October) is another good offensive attacker. I don't like her speed though, I think it might be pretty low.

So yeah that's my team. Please give me some constructive criticism, but cut me some slack cus it's my first team. Also, Please tell me if I should switch some pokes or replace ones with better stats. Thank you so much!!

This team looks decent, although it could use some work, as well as some slight formatting changes (listing the pokemon's EVs rather than actual stats, etc.), and some more description of what makes your team more that six random pokemon: team interactions or reasons for using a specific pokemon.

Your lead bastiodon is too slow to make use of taunt, and he is likely to be the slowest pokemon out (except against bronzong) even without iron ball; try leftovers instead. As an alternative you could consider replacing this pokemon since the 4x weakness to two very common types is unappealing.

Weavile's focus sash is rendered useless most of the time by stealth rock, so you should try another item such as choice band or whatever else you see fit.

Blastoise is pretty strictly inferior to other bulky waters such as vaporeon or suicune. Rapid spinning is basically a joke with all the random rotoms running around, also rotom coincidentally owns blastoise... Also you need not worry too much about toxic spikes as only weavile and blastoise are suceptible to it and venasaur absorbs them.

I've had good luck with fire blast on Salamence to help take out Skarmory (as right now you're pretty helpless against it), but this is more of an opinion thing, so you should do whatever you think is the right choice.

Also, welcome to smogon!

Too be honest. This team is not Best damn team. Little work and it can be a nice team.

You should replace Block on Bastiodon for stone edge or EQ. Heck You shouldnt even be using a Bastiodon. Sure it have nice def but it have no good attack stat and the only move that really do damage would be metal burst.
You should use a metagross as a lead poke Better stat better move and better typing.
Metagross@Occa berry
Nature adamant
252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spe
~ Stealth Rock
~ Earthquake / Meteor Mash
~ Bullet Punch
~ Explosion

Came right from smogon's book.

You should also give up Venusaur for a celebi. It can do every thing that a Venusaur can do and hit hard + It have a reliable Recovery move.

I never used a celebi so someone else should be nice and give you a nice set.

and Blastoise hmmm.
For a rapid spinner a tencruel would be the best....

Have a good day

alright Thank you!! I will keep Blastiose because I like his defense but I'm going to breed another one with better IV's. Also, I think I will get a Celebii, and test Venusaur and Celebii out to see which one works better. And your right, Bastiodon should be switched. I think I might actually try a Aagron first, and if that doesn't go well, I will get a metagross.

Again thank you,

You have a point. I really like Blastoise n all but I might try a Vaporeon instead because that has better special attack. I also do not need rapid spin. Also, I'll probably switch Bastiodon with Aagron or Metagross.
Thank you!!

You're welcome!

I fully agree with bidbip's suggestion to switch to a metagross lead, but as for the switch from venasaur to celebi, I see several problems. First of all if you decide to lose your spinner toxic spikes become more of a problem, because you lose the one pokemon that can absorb them and add another that is affected. Also you lose the sleep support venasaur provides (75% accuracy isn't that bad, especially for a sleep move). Nonetheless celebi is better in almost every other way possible: from stats to movepool, and it is certainly worth trying out.
