My first crack at a trick room team (wifi)

Ive never ran a trick room team before, mainly because I never got around to it but now im setting aside my laziness and attempting to make a good one.

Meowstic (Male) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP, 126 Def/SpD
Bold Nature
- Trick Room
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Psychic

(You)Wait... this is a trick room team right? (Me) Yes. (You) well whats with the meowstic? It aint slow. (Me) True however it carries the prankster ability, which gives trick room priority and unless im fighting something that's faster with both taunt and prankster, this thing will always get a trick room off. The screens are there b/c I noticed how much dmg they negate after using a klefki (garchomp survved an ice beam thx to screens). Psychic is just for fillar.

Ampharos @ Ampharosite
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Hp, 6 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt switch
- Dragon Pulse
- Substitute
Don't see enough of MAmpharos, but with that enormous SpA stat and sluggish speed, I think it fits real well in a trick room team. Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse are the main stab moves that hit really hard. Volt switch is for well... switching. Substitute is there so I can block status effects and scout moves just incase it my opponent throws out something im not expecting.

Exploud @ Life orb
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Hp, 6 Def
Quiet Nature
- Boomburst
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Surf
My lord this thing is a monster. Not only does is have one of the most diverse movepools ive ever seen, it has access to boomburst, the most powerful move in the game (imo). Flamethrower is for those Ferothorns who think they can wall this monster. Shadow ball is for those ghost and psychic types.. mainly psychic. Last is surf, who I choose > ice beam b/c it covers more common types > ice beam.

Dusclops Evolite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Hp, 126 Def/SpD
Bold Nature
- WoW (Will-o-Wisp)
- Trick room
- Infestation
- Rest
Pretty standard Dusclops. WoW is for burning physical attackers so I can outstall them. Trick room for insurance. I heard infestation locks the enemy in as long as continues doing dmg so I chose it. finally rest b/c I need some kind of recovery. The main reason I choose Dusclops tho is b/c his typing makes him bulky enough to shrug off all kinds of priority moves whle either scaring off the opponent and setting up another trick room/throwing out WoW on the incoming target, or just throw WoW on the same target.

Reunicles Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 126 SpA, 252 Hp, 126 Def
Quiet Nature
- Trick Room
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
The reason I chose over coat, is because if I so happen to run into a breloom/Venusaur carrying sleep power/spore, that one pokemon I have asleep, which I don't like. Besides status affects don't have much effect on Reunicles anyways. As for the set, trick room for insurance. Clam mind to hit hard and take SpA hits like a boss. Psychic is for stab and focus blast for coverage.

Cacturne @ Leichi Berry
Ability: Water Sbsorb
EVs: 252 Att/SpA, 6 Hp
Brave Nature
- Needle Arm
- Belch
- Sucker Punch
- Substitute

So I was looking at my team and saw im missing a physical attacker and wondering who to use. I finally came up cacturne, the pokemon no1 ever sees! While needle arm is an inferior leaf blade, it can still pack a good punch thanks to cacturne's attack stat and also has a slight chance to flinch. Belch is something I saw on serebii and thought how nice of a surprise this would be to those fairy types. It also activates my Leichi berry (I think) which further increases my attack stat. Sucker punch is for stab and priority. Finally I decided to go with substitute bc it blocks out status moves, forcing my opponent to attack me, setting up a sucker punch.

Well this is my first time making a trick room team and one thing I like to do, is diversify my team and make my opponent scratch their heads and think "what does that pokemon do?". The battle formats im mainly aiming for this team are singles and rotation. To be honest, doubles and triples don't appeal to me right now and I don't think this team would work on the anyways purely bc exploud would end up killing everything with boomburst. Hopefully I did everything correctly and please give me your advice on my team ^^.

I will not rate your whole team, because I don't know enough aout TR teams but here is a big mistake you made: Prankster gives priority +1. Trick room has priority -7. If a prankster-pokemon uses Trick room it has priority -6, meaning that it will has the same priority as whirlwind or roar. Sorry, but it does not work that way with prankster.

All right, I have some experience with TR, and I'm going to try to rate this team. To be honest, I don't like what I'm seeing.
First off, Trick room has a priority of -7, and prankster only INCREASES the priority by +1, not move it to +1, so TR is still -6. Not that great. Prankster screens lets you switch in your sweepers safer, but your only moderately bulky sweeper is ampharos. What I'd recommend, if you like the idea of a guaranteed trick room, is Xatu. While it is still a tad too fast, and loses on prankster, it gets an equally good ability: magic bounce. The fun part about this is that this allows a guaranteed trick room because you can just bounce taunt away. It also has acess to screens and is a tad bulkier. Try it out.
Let me state another thing about TR: It is a heavily offensive playstyle. In my opinion, every TR setter needs to have some sort of offensive prowess, and both meowstic and dusclops do not fit this bill. What they do is let your opponent set up. You really need to change your TR setters.
Next off, ampharos has no need for volt switch, focus blast is instead a much better coverage move. Try that instead.
I'm not gonna complain about this exploud because though it is frail, you have dual screens to cover the bulk issue, it is slow, and it hits like a truck, so we're fine with that.
Now, as for your reuniclus, I am upset. If you wanted to run calm mind, it works just as good outside trick room imo, and you'd be better off just running recover. If you want to go trick room, you need to remember you only have 4 turns. That's why if you're using a boosting move, it should be a +2 boost. You need to have immediate power when it comes to TR sweepers, as well as some bulk. Thus, it would be better to run life orb with magic guard to hit as hard as possible as soon as possible.
As for the cacturne, I don't really approve of that either. To put it simply, don't use a mon as a TR sweeper if it doesn't have a STAB move over 100bp to abuse repeatedly. You, again, need IMMEDIATE power with TR as 1. none of your tr setters have any offensive presence except for reuniclus 2. you only have 3 turns to abuse actual sweeping power, and that's keeping in mind that you have dual screens up in hopes that your frail TR setters can switch in. 3. If you don't have dual screens up, you're sacking a sweeper just to let in another sweeper. This team doesn't have many ways to deal with powerful attacks.
For starters, even though it's a little outdated and long, read this article: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/guide-to-trick-room-in-bw-ou.3469141/
Now listen, I've been awfully mean to you in this rate. This is your first time using TR, and I really like this playstyle. But this team will not get anywhere, and I don't want you end up like another person who just dismisses TR as a gimmick because they weren't able to play it right the first time. TR is a gimmick, but it's a damn potent gimmick. Learn some more about TR teams, test, and get better. With your creativity and drive, I'm sure you can create a great team! Good luck with your future TR endeavors!

Not at all, infact everything you said, specially that link, have taught me a lot about trick room teams actually. Its seems other then understanding the basics of trick room, I had the whole mentality wrong. Thanks to that link, I think I actually have a lot more options then I previously thought. Time to hit the drawing board again. Oh and I should ask, should I just edit my main post or wait till next week to throw up my edit team?

I mean, from what I understand now, you're gonna hit the drawing board again and the basis of this team is against what you just learned. Imo wait till next week to throw up a whole new team. I'm glad I was able to help you man :]
