My First Lineup on Smogon [OU RMT]

Alright so here we have my modified [OU] lineup, i would appreciate it if i got lots of feedback on this as i am at the stage where i want to start breeding for the appropriate natures and start the lengthy process of EV training.

if possible i would like to stay away from using pokemon that i cant breed as i probably be able to get my hands on that legendary or get the correct nature (only exception is Heatran as i have not caught it in platinum yet so i can spend a while looking for a good nature)

All feedback is welcome (positive, negative and neutral)

Team in Detail:
metagross.png

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Clear Body
Adamant
252 HP/252 Atk/6 Spe
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Bullet Punch
Explosion

I have decided to opt for an attacking metagross over a tank metagross as my lead to catch out those who are expecting stealth rock and some defence investment, Occa Berry is to spare me a OHKO from a Fire Blast, Meteor Mash and Earthquake are to cause pain to all the other leads out there, while Bullet Punch is to take down those using Focus Sash before they can land another hit on me. Finally when Metagross has fulfilled its purpose it can explode and take another opponent with it.

dusknoir.png

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Pressure
Impish
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpD
Will-O-Wisp
Fire Punch
Thunder Punch
Pain Split

Dusknoir is going to be my Tank, its main focus is Physical defence. I have will-o-wisp to cause status problems amoungst the other team, an added bonus is that it lowers their attack. Fire punch is there for the likes of scizor and others that would try and switch in, set up, and OHKO me. Thunder punch will assist me in getting rid of Gyarados which is a large threat to my team's survival, together Fire and Thunder punches provide good coverage. Pain Split is the only half decent form of healing available to Dusknoir, it also will reduce the opponents health as well as healing my own so my punching attacks have a better chance of killing with less hits.

vaporeon.png

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
Bold
252 HP/252 Def/4 SpD
Wish
Surf
Hidden Power [Electric]
Protect

I was originally thinking of using Swampert as my bulky water, however since opponents are more inclined to have grass knot as a counter for bulky waters, i decided to go for the lighter vaporeon. Vaporeon also aids me in getting rid of gyarados with hidden power electric, while a STAB surf will do reasonable damage to anything that does not resist it. Wish is good for this team as only dusknoir is the only other one with some form of recovery, so if needed i can switch another in to receive the wish, Protect is there so it can receive Wish without it loosing all its health.

infernape.png

Infernape @ Choice Scarf
Blaze
Naive
64 atk/252 SpA/192 Spe
Fire Blast
Close Combat
Grass Knot
Hidden Power [Ice]

Using a MixApe moveset as a revenge killer, with this moveset i am able to hit all types for at least neutral damage, close combat is in over focus blast due to accuracy issue, it also deals with Blissey alot better, if fire blast keeps missing more than i like then i will switch it for flamethrower, grass knot will provide some resistance to water types it could run into as well as the likes of hippowdon and donphan. Hidden Power Ice can take care of the dragons that would otherwise wall this set.

sceptile.png

Sceptile @ Life Orb
Timid
Overgrow
6 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Energy Ball
Dragon Pulse
Hidden Power [Fire]
Focus Blast

Sceptile is going to be my Special Powerhouse with very good coverage, energy ball is for the likes of swampert, rhyperior, vaporeon etc. I chose energy ball over grass knot as grass knot would only be more useful against Milotic. Focus Blast will do big damage to steel and ice types as well as being 4x effective on Tyranitar and can also do SE damage on a few others, dragon pulse wards of the likes of salamence and other dragons that would expect to wall sceptile, hidden power Fire can take care of other grass types, steel types and more. I might consider using Choice Specs if i seem to be just missing out on OHKO's and 2HKO's, however if you guys believe using specs is better from the start please let me know.

salamence.png

Salamence @ Life Orb
Intimidate
Naive
232 Atk/24 SpA/252 Spe
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Blast

Salamence is going to be my late game sweeper, after 1 dragon dance, it should be able to out speed most other pokemon making it fairly easy to clean up the rest of the opponents team. If i find that Infernape is doing a better job as a late game sweeper then i will probably change the EVs and nature around on Salamence and switch Fire Blast with Stone edge so i can provide more of a resistance to gyarados and other flying types, as well as maxing out its Attack

thanks for taking the time to help out, i dont mind if you guys are harsh or not, main goal is to get this good so i can start breeding and training

nice team
very interesting use of sceptile. although i think celebi would be better plus it can support your team.

anyway, i think you should replace Meteor mash on metagross with stealthrocks

teams without stealthrocks are at abit of a disadvantage IMO.

especially when you have a ghost type to black off rapid spin

i think your team will definately benifit from it especially sceptile which im quite doubtful to be an efficient sweeper.

specs on sceptile is not really gonna do any good.
mindaswell go with a ScarFporygonz or special azelf sweeper

i think scepti is really outclassed by so many other better
special swweepers

just my personal opinnions honestly. =D
good luck with your team

alright i have added Stealth rock to Metagross

have chosen not to do anything with sceptile just yet as i wont be able to get my hands on a celebi

Your team is very weak to Starmie. I'm not sure if Dusknoirs Thunder Punch OKHO's, if the case is it can't then Starmie could possiably sweep your team...

sceptile should be able to out speed it unless starmie has choice scarf. and it should be able to OHKO it with energy ball?

Now that i think of it, Sceptile is really not bad.

Now i think Sceptile is quite a threat to water types in OU
being able to kill off:
Starmie,Swampert,Milotics,Celebis and Gyara

HOwerver i feel that Sceptile needs More POWER.
maybe you can switch in on one of the pokemon stated above and get an agility or a nasty plot, maybe a swords dance physical set.
(not sure sceptile learns nasty plot but it looks like it can lol =D)

Lots of potential for Sceptile. HONestly

I have also just noticed that Vaporeon really is EXTREMELY VITAL
to the team.
Taking in Water attacks aimed at Infernape
Ice attacks aimed at Salamence and Sceptile
U-TUrns (from Scarfedflygons) aimed at Sceptile
Fire Attacks aimed at Metagross and Sceptile
Vaporeon probably is the Caring Protective Mother of the whole Team.

I advice you to keep Vap alive as long as possible in battles.

yea im pretty sure i will be keeping vaporeon as long as possible

sceptile cant learn nasty plot unfortunately, i also feel agility wont really be needed as the only [OU] pokemon that can outspeed it are ninjask, aerodactyl, jolteon and weavile. only weavile is commonly used not as a lead so if i run into weavile i will most likely switch to infernape even though focus blast will probably OHKO it as either ice shard or ice punch will probably OHKO sceptile (dont know if this is true or not but it seems likely)

i have a some concerns with putting in stealth rock, being whether i can OHKO azelf and aerodactyl with bullet punch (even though they will have focus sash), as well as the EV spread, im not sure if i can get away with setting up rocks and get off some attacks without some defence investment

alright i have added scarf to infernape and made it my revenge killer

are any more changes needed or is my team really good the way it is now?

Take the scarf off Infernape, change Sceptile for a much better special sweeper in Gengar, then give HIM the scarf for revenge killing. Mixape is far too versitile to be limited to one move.

While I'm not sure it fits on the team, I can tell you that Sceptile works much better as a SubSeeder. Sceptile is one of my favorite pokemon and I've tried many different sets, but I've always come out with the subseed being the most effective. If you must have him as a special sweeper, I would go with choice specs.

I think if you're going to put a scarf on infernape, then he should have U-turn. I think most of your revenge kills will end up on DD mences/flygons anyway. Grass Knot looks nice to have, but works much better on the NP/wall breaking sets, when you're trying to sweep as much as possible in one sitting. U-turn will provide some good scouting, something Scarfers do well.
