My first NU Team(A.K.A Excessive Substitute)

This is my first RMT, so bear with any mistakes. This is a defensive team centered around the late game. A defensive core is formed by Alomomola and Vileplume, with a regigigas action as a backup special tank. Two powerhouses-Marowak and Haunter form my offense, with a Rotom-F to gain me momentum at the beginning of the match. However, it doesn’t quite work. I’ve used this team for a long time, and I’ve noticed a few problems. First, a lack of Stealth Rocks. Second, a real weakness to Set up sweepers. Third, it’s hard for me to break through other defensive teams.

Rotom-S @ Leftovers
Ability-Levitate
4 Def, 252 SpA, 252 Spd
Timid Nature
-Air Slash
-Thunder Wave
-Confuse Ray
-Pain Split
Paraflinchfusion. I <3 this thing so much. Typically my lead, he’s useful for taking out scarfed leads. Paralysis is very useful to my team, as it provides the chance for my Marowak and Regigigas to get a sub and allow Haunter to out speed scarfed ‘mons. He generally gets 1 kill, and another paralyzed, but it varies. Replaceable, but he’s so helpful.

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability-Regenerator
252 Hp, 252 Def, 4SpDef
Impish Nature
-Waterfall
-Toxic
-Protect
-Wish
The big Luvdisc is amazing. Forming the first half of my defensive core, this Pokemon never lets me down. I laugh when Pokes like Emboar try to Wild Charge, do 40%, get toxicked, I Protect, Wish, Protect, ect. Not really willing to replace.

vileplume.jpg

Vileplume @ Leftovers
Ability-Affect Spore
252 Hp, 48 SpA, 208 SpDef
Calm Nature
-Aromatherapy
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb
-Sleep Powder
This Vileplume is actually a Smogon set with reversed Defenses. Still works just fine. Works as my cleric, with aromatherapy, and forms the second half of my core with Alomomola. He helps me take out Samurott, which can run all over my team if I give him a chance. Sleep Powder is helpful for crippling a pokemon, which can become set up fodder later. If you can recommend a better special wall, with clerical abilities, he can be switched out.

Haunter.gif

Haunter@ Leftovers
Ability-Levitate
252 SpA, 4SpDef, 252 Spd
Timid Nature
-Substitute
-Disable
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Fighting
This was originally a Misdreavus, but one day I tried Subdisable Haunter and never looked back. A great counter to choice users, he also function as my main special attacker. He is also helpful with his immunities. His HP is weaker then I would like though. A ghost type is always helpful though.

Marowak @ Thick Club
Ability-Battle Armor
4 Hp, 252 Atk, 252 Spd
Timid Nature
-Substitute
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Thunder Punch
Marowak, the clinically depressed powerhouse. What’s that? Attack higher than Rayquaza’s? Without a Band? Instant Love. STAB EQ hurts so much. Thunder punch is to take out the water types that plague this team. Substitute eases prediction and often allows Marowak a free hit.

regigigas.jpg

Regigigas @ Leftovers
Ability-Slow Start
252 Hp, 4 Atk, 252 SpDef
Careful Nature
-Thunder Wave
-Substitute
-Return
-Drain Punch
Don’t close the window after you see this plz. A backup special wall and power house, Regigigas has gotten me out of many a tight spot. He is probably the most replaceable pokemon on my team, and I’ve considered switching him for a Stealth Rocker quite a bit.

Please comment and leave suggestions!

To be blunt, the reason why this team is not performing very well is the fact that everything is just too weak to do sufficient damage, as well as too frail to tank damage. You are also relying on hax for quite a few of your Pokemon, and that is flawed by principle because of its inconsistency. Hax may be amazing one battle, but said battle is typically an outlier in comparison to the grand scheme of things.

Honestly, I think you should start from scratch. Sometimes you just have to start from scratch because you have to take drastic measures to sufficiently improve. It has happened to plenty of my teams as well, so don't fret over it. Here are some useful resources if you plan on starting from scratch:
