My First Pokémon Team

Hey everyone! :)

I have recently gotten interested in Pokémon battling and set out to carefully plan my team. I have finally finished it and would really like to know what you guys think about it.

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Nature: Careful
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Def, 4 Att

-Wish
-Payback (recently changed to Taunt)
-Baton Pass
-Curse

This Pokémon is mainly used to Baton Pass its Curse to either Swampert or Ferrothorn, as they both benefit from the stat changes.
_____

Haxorus @ Focus Sash
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spd, 4 HP

-X Scissor
-Dual Chop
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake

Dragon Dance gives a common boost, Dual Chop can break through Substitute and make other Focus Sashes useless. Earthquake can hit Levitaters (eg. Gengar) because of Mold Breaker.
_____

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 Sp. Att, ??? (this guy was used on my first playthrough).

-Energy Ball
-Flamethrower
-Shadow Ball
-Psychic

This Pokémon is supposed to act like a revenge killer but is normally dead before he gets a chance to hit. I'm considering giving her a Choice Scarf to outspeed Milotic, Landorus, etc.
_____

Ferrothorn @ Big Root
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP, 60 Def, 196 Sp. Def

-Leech Seed
-Stealth Rock
-Power Whip
-Gyro Ball

This Pokémon is boosted by the Baton Pass/Curse combo and the Big Root allows for a lot of health to be regained from Leech Seed.
_____

Swampert @ Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP, 196 Def, 60 Sp. Att

-Surf
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Ice Beam

This guy is an all-rounded Pokémon with decent enough defences. I try and use it as a Dragon-counter or Rock/Ground counter, but it always seems to die a bit too quick.
_____

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Nature: Calm
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP, 4 Sp. Att, 252 Sp. Def

-Roost
-Thunder Wave
-Aura Sphere
-Air Slash

A classic Para-Flinch set. Roost is to regain HP while avoiding super-effective damage from Rock/Electric/Ice, and Aura Sphere hits Rock or Ice types trying to counter.
_____

I have also recently bred a Conkeldurr - his stats are as follows:

Conkeldurr @ Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Att, 4 Sp. Def

-Payback
-Bulk Up
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch

Guts is very helpful for getting a free boost in Attack, and Mach Punch is hilarious when it hits much faster foes.

Well, I would love to hear any comments you may have. :)

This seems like a pretty good team, but if you're finding swampert is dying too fast, you should try either surf/recover/ice beam/ HP Grass Milotic, Or a jellicent with scald, recover, hex, and an ice type move. Chandelure, in my opinion, should have flash fire, so it can switch in to fire types threatening ferrothorn. I would also replace the life orb on conkeldurr with a flame orb so he gets an easy boost from guts.

Hmm, when I have the time I may try breeding a few Feebas for Milotic's - I never knew they recieved HP Grass and that could come in useful. I would imagine Recover to be rather annoying for the opposing team too.

I think Flash Fire Chandelure is not worth breeding all over again, as I can just switch Swampert into Fire types; Water/Ground against Fire? :)

I chose to give a Life Orb to my Conkeldurr for extra damage with Drain Punch, so he will actually regain the lost HP back from the stronger punch, whilst dealing more damage. However, I will try new things out.

I would change haxorus moveset some. Maybe instead of dragon dance try outrage and replace focus sash with choice band or scarf
The Focus Sash, in my opinion, is a necessity to keeping Haxorus alive. His total stats are only 540 (unlike most other non-Uber dragons) so his HP and Defences are pretty low. I kind of use him for a quick hit at the start of a match (amazing 147 base attack), though it's pretty risky as Dual Chop has 90% accuracy.

I wouldn't want to risk locking myself into Outrage either, but it may be a viable option. I'll experiment a bit. :)

For your first team, it's not bad at all, I'm exactly Mr.Metagame here, but like some of the other people said, I would change your Haxorus set, and maybe take out Pert for Jellicent.

Is it a good idea to swap Haxorus for Conkeldurr, and if not what moveset did you have in mind?

Also, I think I will change Swampert for Milotic/Jellicent. :)

RMT rules said:
3. Have some actual words in your post beyond your six Pokemon and their moves. Not following this makes your post quite boring to read and rate. All Pokemon should have a good reason for being in your team anyway, so why not post that reason? If you are having trouble with this one, start by giving an explanation for each team member. Why are they there? What role do they serve? How do you get them in? Then, give an explanation of how you would open with the team and how you would go about using it. All of these things help people rate your team and allow us to offer more helpful advice.

This does not mean add one sentence saying "Standard x" or "all-around awesome" after each Pokemon. If you put thought into making the team, you can put thought into posting it.

Take a look at the RMT archive to see what kind of descriptions we are looking for. PM me the fixed descriptions and I'll unlock this thread.

Also please complete your EV spread for Chandelure.
