ORAS OU My First Pokemon Team Since Gen 4

Hey guys so like the title says, this is my first team since gen 4. I stopped playing competitive pokemon and pokemon in general before black and white and black/white 2. I just got pokemon X and Alpha Sapphire a few weeks ago. I have done these RMT back in gen 4 but I should still remember how to do one. Before I start keep in mind im still alittle new to the fairy type, megas, and all the new pokemon in gen 5 and 6. With that being said I tried my best making my first pokemon OU team.

Changes Will be in bold
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Flamethrower

So I actually wanted to start with Keldeo and in that team I had klefki and garchomp and someone told me they had decent synergy so thats how I started this team with Klefki and Garchomp. I dont know klefki that well but I sure wanted t-wave and spikes to help set the field. Magnet rise for obivious reason so im not weak to ground moves. Play rough is a new move for me but I tried it a few times and it was amazing. This is a great wall pokemon.

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 144 HP / 112 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Foul Play

My next pokemon I chose was sableye (ill get to garchomp later). I was looking for a mega pokemon and I wanted a ghost type for the fact that I dont want my hazards to disappear. I know defog is a thing but incase they had a rapid spinner. I was thinking between mega sableye or regular gengar. I ended up choosing Mega Sableye for the fact that its another wall and i never used sableye since in gen 4 he was no where near OU lol. Its a standard smogon set with knock off to take there items off. Will-o-wisp to burn them and it will hurt there physical attackers as well. Record for me to stay in the battle longer. Last move was foul play just so I have one damaging move.

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Stealth Rocks
- Iron Head
- Whirlwind

Next pokemon I chose was skarmory because I wanted a pokemon with stealth rocks and defog. Now i first made this team on my 3ds and for some reason I cant use defog on skarmory so i switched to whirlwind and its not bad either, Helps alot with pokemon who need to set up. Stealth rocks does hurt my team alittle but for the most part I can work around it. I used stealth rocks cause its an awesome move lol. Next I have roost again to keep myself alive. Last move i didnt know exactly what move to use and someone mentioned to me that I need a steel move to take care of fairy types. Thats where iron head comes in. I also used rocky helmet for the fact that it helps take care of physical sweepers and since i have roost I dont think i need leftovers.
Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
-
Brave Bird
- Taunt
- Bulk Up
-
Roost

Now i looked at my team and saw a fire weakness. I was thinking of volcanion but I thought talonflame is just as good. So i have sharp beak to help boost brave bird. I use brave bird because it has priority due to gale wings. I could do acrobatics but its weaker and i would need to not have any item. I have flare blitz to help against steel and grass type pokemon. Roost like the other pokemon help me stay in longer and with stealth rocks hits talonflame about half HP it helps alot. I just switch into a ferrathorn and roost saftely. Last is u-turn to scout my opponents pokemon.
Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover

Since I didnt chose volcanion i needed a water pokemon and i thought of slowbro or milotic. I ended up chosing milotic since it has haze. Now in the end i chose dragon tail over haze since milotic is bulky enough to go against most set up sweepers. I have scald for its STAB move and ice beam for flying pokemon and grass pokemon. Last i have record again to stay in longer.
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Psyshock

Now my last pokemon was suppose to be garchomp and i wanted a defesive garchomp but i saw my team and saw i barely had any sweepers. So i was thinking between gyarados or dragonite but I already have a mega so i chose to do a DD dragonite. Its a standard dd dragonite with dragon dance to set up for sweep. Outrage for those dragon types. Extreme speed has +2 priority and earthquake for fighting types and electric types.

So this is my team sorry I dont have a better explination but i tried my best and again im still new to all the moves, abilities, megas, fairy types, and items but i am slowly learning. Could you guys please be kind and help me out.

I was trying to fit a spore sub breloom and mega medicham but it didnt work out in this team. Oh and sorry i have no pictures as well.

Hi there! Cool team, but i have a few ideas on how you can improve it.

The first thing I noticed looking at this team is how weak you are to Clefable. Your best way of checking it right now is sending out Talonflame and trying to Brave Bird it to death, but unfortunately its not that simple as Clefable has a very high chance to live even that. I reccommend changing offensive Talonflame to specially defensive stallbreaker Talonflame first of all. This provides you with a better way of dealing with clefable and also helps you out in matchups other problematic mons for this team such as Serperior and Breloom.

Next thing I noticed is that you're running milotic as a stop to setup sweepers, but milotic is outclassed in this role. I reccomend you change milotic to quagsire. Changing milotic to quag will let you check setup sweepers much more effectively thanks to unaware.

I also think Klefki generally is outclassed by other spikes setters on defensive teams, and I have an idea of how to reconfigure the team to make it flow a little better. If you change Klefki to stealth rock + heal bell Clefable and change Skarmory from rocks to spikes you will have a more effective hazard stacking core. Im saying to run heal bell as pokemon like quagsire really appreciate heal bell support. Another minor thing i saw is that youre running rocky helmet on skarm, but I really think more defensive teams that rely on skarmory a lot should have a way to let skarmory escape magnezone, therefore I think you should also change Skarmory's item from rocky helmet to shed shell.

Finally, you lack a hazard remover and a reliable Keldeo check, and i really dont think Dragonite does a lot on that team, so i reccommend changing Dragonite to bulky Starmie.

I hope I managed to help you out with your team, have a nice day!

Summary: SpD Talonflame>Offensive Talonflame, Quagsire>Milotic, SR + Heal Bell Clef>Klefki, Shed Shell + Spikes Skarm>Rocky Helmet + Stealth Rock Skarm, and Bulky Starmie>Dragonite

thank you so much i will definitely change the team like you said and will try it out, only thing im not certain is that i rather keep rocky helmet on skarm, i have yet to cross against magnezone and skarmory has helped against physical sweepers all because of rocky helmet

one more thing i will say is that i had dragonite to help me sweep because i dont really have a sweeper, the pokemon you suggested is mostly just bulky pokemon but what about sweepers to help me destroy my opponents team?

Talonflame is the primary sweeper on the build as the aforementioned dragonite just didn't fit. Bulk up turns talon into a scary Mon that can be hard to take down and can keep racking up boost after boost. Another option is running stealth rock on Skarmory and running calm mind clefable instead, but that's up to you.

As for the matter of shed shell on Skarmory, in the end it's up to what you prefer but I think the team is much more consistent with shed shell, as otherwise you basically autolose to stuff like magnezone + mega pinsir cores.

the changes you suggested worked great especially talonflame i sweeped a whole team using taalonflame so thank you, i am weak to mega charizard y tho it 2ko quagsire and starmie and scald does nothing to it.
