My first pokemon team. (UU)

So I've recently got into competitive pokemon and have decided to give it a go. I particularly like Arcanine so decided to base a team around him.

059.png

First my Arcanine set.
Arcanine (M) @ Life orb
Ability: Flash fire
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense
Adamant nature
-Flare blitz
-Close combat
-Wild charge
-Extremespeed

Arcanine is a good all out attacker with good coverage. With his flashfire ability he can switch into obvious fire attacks and power up his already powerful flareblitz. With his decent defenses he can take a couple of hits before he's knocked out while dishing out powerful attacks in return. The downfall of this however is the recoil and defense drops that he will take and so some sort of wish support would be useful.

Synergy:
Water: Suicune
Ground: Flygon, Cresselia, Crobat
Rock: Flygon, Gallade

245.png

Suicune is a decent pokemon from what I've seen so I decided to add him.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 4 Special defense
Timid nature
-Calm mind
-Surf/ Scald
-Ice beam
-Hidden power electric

This is a set that you've all seen before. Hidden power electric is to hit those bulky waters that will switch in to try and counter while ice beam and surf are for near perfect coverage. With a few calm minds under your belt this pokemon is a force to be reckoned with. Scald is another option to get the burn on enemy physical attackers and severely weaken them.

Synergy:
Electric: Flygon
Grass: Arcanine, Crobat

Flygon seemed like a good choice to cover Arcanines other weaknesses.

330.png

Flygon @ Choice scarf
Naive/Hasty
80 atk/172 spA/252 Spe
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
-Draco Meteor
-U-Turn

Flygon is the revenge killer on my team. Being mixed he can hit enemies on both sides of the defensive spectrum and with stab draco meteor make huge dents opponents pokemon. Being only weak to two attacking types is a big bonus especially with dragon attacks being uncommon and this allows flygon to switch into most attacks relatively safely providing there is no hax involved.

Synergy:
Dragon:
Ice: Arcanine, Suicune

475.png

Gallade @ Leftovers
Careful
EVs: 240hp, 40 Attack, 216 Special defense, 12 speed
-Bulk Up
-Drain punch
-Ice punch
-Shadow sneak

Gallade is my set up guy on this team. Investing in his already high special defense allows gallade to take a couple of hits while setting up with bulk up and preparing to sweep. Being rather frail on the defensive side it would be beneficial to have screen support.

Synergy:
Flying:
Ghost:

169.png

Crobat @ Leftovers
Jolly Nature
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 144 Spe
-Brave bird/ Taunt
-Toxic/ Super fang
-Roost
-U turn

Crobat is my lead for this team. Being one of the faster pokemon in the tier allows it to shut down opponents trying to set up with a fast taunt while also being able to u-turn in unfavorable situations to take a chunk out of the opponents health.

Ice: Arcanine, Suicune
Rock: Flygon
Electric: Flygon
Psychic: Cresselia

488.png

Cresselia @ Light Clay
Bold Nature
EVs: 252hp/ 148 defense/ 68 speed/ 40 Special defense
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Psychic
-Lunar dance/ Thunder wave/ Ice beam

Cress is the only really defensively orientated pokemon on the team. Her job is to set up screens so the other pokemon can survive longer. Psychic is to deal out damage and with it being stab it does that little bit more. In the final slot lunar dance can be used to heal pokemon such as arcanine who will be taking lots of recoil damage but isn't always necessary as the dual screens should offer decent protection. Thunder wave can be used to slow fast pokemon down and allow my slower pokemon to get a hit off. Finally ice beam can be used to catch opponets of guard and score a few ko's.

Synergy:
Ghost:
Dark:
Bug: Arcanine

So please suggest improvements :)

ok i can see this is a very offensive team and thats fine and u didnt specify if u want a defensive replacement or offensive replacement BUTT...

the flygon set should be running choice scarf especially because with draco meteor your not going to be staying in long. and it alows you to out speed anything not +1 speed in UU and it can make for a good revenge killer.

and since this is such an offensive team may i suggest dual screen cress it would really extend the survivablity of alot of your offensive pokes and would makeing setting up with suicune and gallade easier. notto mention cress is a boss.

and finally try crocune... hope i helped alil :D

Thanks for your suggestions.

Choice scarf seems like a better option for flygon for reasons you noted so I'm going to try that.

I don't really like the look of crocune due to it only having surf making it very predictable.

Cress looks like a good option for my team but I don't really know what to do with the ev's and what not. Do you have a set that you could suggest?

First off I really don't want to be rude in any means at all but you need a little more description for your pokes and another rule in the RMT thread is that every team posted needs to have 6 pokemon no more, no less. So I recommend you do a little work to this thread (I can help you with getting pictures if you like) before a Mod tells you to fix these things.

I honestly think instead of Cresselia that you NEED a lead above anything else. If you were to go along with what i have said a Dual Screen Uxie might suit your needs.
Your Crobat can also be a lead if you change his set around a little. It functions also as a wall breaker and can taunt to stop opposing lead from setting up entry hazards. The set is listed below.

Spr_5b_169.png

Crobat @ leftovers
Nature: Jolly
EVs:

-Taunt
-Brave Bird/U-turn
-Roost
-Super Fang

This set can shut down a lot of leads. Basic Wallbreaker set it pretty much explains itself. It is meant to be used as a lead. Your choice between U-turn or Brave bird. Or this lead might help out your team.

Spr_5b_480.png

Uxie @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 Sp. D

-Light Screen
-Reflect
-U-turn/ Memento
-Yawn/ Psychic

Also a lead or can set screens up mid game. Memento can shut down opposing sweepers at the cost of Uxie's life so your sweeper can come in unharmed. Or you can opt for U-turn which gives the team some momentum. Yawn or Psychic is really your personal preference.

Hope I helped and if you do want help with pictures just ask me :)

So I recommend either a Crobat or Uxie as a lead (Uxie can also function as a dual screener outside of the lead position).

I agree with what was said by politraner on Flygon needing to have Scarf.

o i forgot uxie is also a great screen option but if u still want cress

th_Cresselia.png

name: Dual Screens Support
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Lunar Dance
move 3: Light Screen
move 4: Psychic / Ice Beam / Thunder Wave
item: Light Clay
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 40 SpD / 68 Spe

cress is a great option but i probably would suggest it for a mid-late game screen set up as lunar dance will KO you but fully restore a pokemons hp and PP. but u can save lunar dance for later because your likely to survive alot of hits cause of the screens. but make sure u set up the right screen depending on the poke (if spatker ligh screen first and if atker reflect first)

You have some nice suggestions above for some screeners ..

Anyways I thought that If you put an Umbereon or an Espeon .. its up to you ..

Thanks for your suggestions guys.

I've added cress in as my 6th pokemon and fleshed out my descriptions a little.

I've noticed a couple of type weaknesses that might be a problem (dark, ghost and flying) so if you have any suggestions then please share them :)
