ORAS OU My first proper RMT

Ok so i made a few teams in the past with not much success but i think this team has potential and could make it far with the right tweaking:

scizor.png

Scizor :

So i built my team based on scizor as the core pokemon, i didnt want to him to be a wall but instead a heavy hitter so i invested into all round defensive scizor. Now i got this set from smogon pokemon sets but i admit it is outdated and it is hard to find good builds for pokemon in the oras meta.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off

So in truth i just chose the set i wanted to build around for scizor.

485.png

Heatran :

With scizor so weak to fire and remembering heatran spdef set as well as flash fire i chose heatran as my special wall. Once again i found a build on smogon but it didnt work very well so i changed it and ended up completely changing the set.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Protect
- Roar

I went with a more utility build. lava plume for damage and burn chance but i needed toxic in case someone tried to outwall me. Protect with leftovers and toxic makes a salty play more salty for recovery and poison damage and i added roar as i decided to bring a different stealth rocker as heatran cannot live a eq or earthpower and i will explain that soon. roar stops setups and allows me to get some more damage off with stealth rocks on the field as well as letting me switch into something more viable when they switch.

Starmie :

So with heatran's weakness to ground and fighting i looked at the type chart and decided to go with starmie.

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Rapid Spin

Now i know what your all thinking "hydro pump is better", but i wanted reliable damge that will hurt always and went with surf even though i prefer scald for burn chance. But scald doesn't ko all threats so easy i went with surf for stab, base power and damage output. I went with icebeam as i thought flying, grass and ground won't appreciate the move. we all know starmie is an amazing spinner so rapid spin was a must and i ran psychic over psyshock as i'm not worried about pokes like conkeldur and such even if they are AV as i have oter mons to deal with them.

Conkeldurr :

Now enters Conkeldurr, i needed a resolve as heatran covered starmie for electric and grass weaknesses but i needed a darkness check and bug check. I didnt mind ghost all that much since i could switch heatran to take a shadow ball or two with ease.

Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
- Earthquake

Ok so assault vested conkeldurr was my choice for wallbreaker if i'm saying the right thing. I wanted a mon who deal massive damge and could take a burn and dish it back. Drain punch i wanted for recovery and stab high damage output, mach punch for priority and knock off for those poke's that relied on holding onto their items for a good cause. Earth quake was a filler as i didn't think the punches done much without "iron fist".

rhyperior.png

Rhyperior :

This is where it gets interesting i needed a defensive wall that could take damage well but dish out whatever it needed to win it's fights. he helps out heatran as heatran is weak to ground but rhyperior us as well but is a bulky defensive pokemon with solid rock which allows him to take 3/4 super effective damage.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 212 HP / 44 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch

now i got this set off smogon too but i really liked it so i didn't adjust it, it also allowed me to make people think that my heatran was my SR pokemon allowing me to lead with rhyperior and take an eq quite well. I havent got much idea for how this rhyperior works so this is why this pokemon's explanation so short.

645-therian.png

Landorus Therian :

Now easy explanation i wanted one flying/levitate pokem on in the team to give me a break from ground moves if the other pokemon where weak. I also wanted a scarf user and landorus popped in my head.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Rock Slide

Enter my scarf pokemon who outspeeds most pokemon and dish ut major damage!, he also lowers pokemon's atk stat buy 1 so he makes a reliable switch in, only problem is landorus is well known for 2 main roles, defensive rocker and scarfed landorus so people will know my set very fast. earthquake for stab, knock off to get rid of those pesky items, u-turn for switching and rock slide over stone edge as i wanted the flinch and a lil bit higher accuracy (i know it's only 10% more but eh).

So this is my team please help me make this an awesome ou team with potential to get higher leaderboard ranks (but we all know it's also who is using the team)

Btw if someone could tell me how to add a yellow box for people to use the team it would be great.

Hey there really interesting team there however I have some suggestions to make the team better n_n
  • Firstly, I do notice that your team is really weak to common Water types such as Azumarill and Keldeo. Although you have a Starmie to help cope with the latter, you lack Recover on it to help deal with it throughout a game so I would definitely replace Ice Beam for Recover on Starmie and replace Life Orb for Leftovers. I would also recommend having Skarmory instead of Rhyperior since it fulfills the role of a physically defensive wall as well. With the change from Rhyperior to Skarmory, I would recommend having Spikes on Skarmory and let Heatran be the Stealth Rock user of the team.

    Starmie @ Leftovers
    Ability: Natural Cure
    EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    IVs: 0 Atk
    - Scald
    - Psyshock
    - Rapid Spin
    - Recover

    Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers
    Ability: Sturdy
    EVs: 224 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spe
    Impish Nature
    - Spikes
    - Taunt
    - Roost
    - Iron Head
  • Secondly, with Stealth Rock on Heatran instead of Roar, I'll recommend having Taunt instead of Protect as well so that Heatran can actually win Clefable 1vs1 by Taunting it and weakening it with Lava Plume since Scizor would not appreciate a Flamethrower from Clefable.

    Heatran @ Leftovers
    Ability: Flash Fire
    EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
    Calm Nature
    - Lava Plume
    - Toxic
    - Stealth Rock
    - Taunt

  • Lastly, I realized that your team has no proper wall-breaker apart from Scizor as your set-up Pokemon. Also, your team gets withered by things like Rotom-W or common Volt-Turn users very easily and your only way of stopping status/weak attacks from things like Rotom-W is through Conkeldurr. In this case, I feel like a Magic Guard Clefable would be a better fit for your team, not only will it be able to absorb status for your team and recover off it's HP reliably but it is also able to set up Calm Minds to get off a sweep too.

    Clefable (F) @ Leftovers
    Ability: Magic Guard
    EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 96 SpD / 8 Spe
    Bold Nature
    - Moonblast
    - Calm Mind
    - Encore
    - Soft-Boiled

    036.png
    227.png
    485.png
    Hope it helps! :]

Barring Starmie and Lando-T you have a slow team lacking priority. Starmie should run Scald > Surf because burns kill physical attackers. Alkov has some good suggestions so listen to him. I haven't got tonnes of time so yeah! Just keep working at it. PM me if you want a better review
