My first rain dance

azelf.jpg

Azelf @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature
- Taunt
- Rain Dance
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock

So this is my suicide lead. in most games i usually have time taunt, rain dance, then explosion. on the rare occasion i get to drop stealth rocks as well. I use him to set up ludicolo as he is the first person I turn to after I explode. If I have a hunch on seeing blissey, kabutops will take the lead over ludicolo.

Kingdra.jpg

Kingdra (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/240 SpA/16 Spe
Naughty nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power Electric
- Waterfall
- Singnal Beam

physical sweeper. with rain dance in effect it out speeds just about anything (as well as the other swift swimmer on the team.) on move im really iffy on is dacro meteor. i usually just use waterfall or ice beam.

Rotom-W.png

Rotom-w @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump

i like the utility he brings to the team, especially the hydro pump. i have caught a lot people off gaurd with it. Other than hydro pump dmg increase when raining or 100% thunder I don’t really use him much. The only person I really use him against is metagross and hit him with thunder, otherwise I normally use scizor in all other situations. this does bring me to my first pokemon however that i am thinking about replacing just not sure what i want to replace with. im thinking swampert.

Kabutops.jpg

Kabutops (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk/20 Def/204 Spd
Jollly nature
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

Kabutops is my other physical sweeper. Because of the issue I have had against blissey I thought it would be wise to go with another phsyical sweeper than special. So i made so changes to this build. i took out brick break and rapid spin and put in stone edge and aqua jet. after testing aqua jet for a bit i will switch aqua jet with x-scissor and see which one helps me more.

Scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Technician
EVs: 200 HP/56 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Rain Dance
- Superpower

my other support. hes great at resetting rain dance and getting out quick if needed. Normally Ill switch him in if the rain stops or if im sensing a super effective hit on either of my sweepers. Usually only use u turn after I rain dance so that I can hit a pyschic or get or of magnetons grip. Unless I have a type advantage I switch him with one of my sweepers after I rain dance.

Ludicolo.jpg

Ludicolo (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 60 HP/196 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature
- Energy Ball
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Hidden Power Electric

my only special sweeper. He is my first choice after I explode with azelf. I havent had any issues with people one shotting him and can normally 0hko a number of opposing pokemon (with the execption of blissy). i perfer energy ball other grass knot so that i can take other vaporean and other light weight pokemon that are weak to grass.

I have had decent success with this team. There are somethings though that do hurt this team a bit. One is blissey. even with kabutops having a fighting move specifically for her its hard to take her out. i also have an issue with any sub/protect stall teams after my rain dance fades after i set it up again they normally have a lock on me. last but not least metagross is pretty troublesome for me.

First of all, Kingdra wants HP ELECTRIC to hit Empoleon switch-ins, it shouldn't be setting up rain dance anyways

You were right, DEFINITELY use STONE EDGE over rapid spin. Kabutops is not nearly bulky enough to spin efficiently. Continuing on with Kabutops, use AQUA JET over brick break.

You say you use brick break for steels, though, so let's look at this:
Commonly used steel types include Metagross, Forretress, Lucario, Skarmory, Bronzong, Magnezone, Empoleon, Scizor, Heatran, Jirachi, and sometimes Registeel.

With STAB and the boost from rain dance, Waterfall's power doubles to 160
With a supereffective hit, Brick Break's power doubles to 150. Virtually the same, so Waterfall would be preferred as you save a moveslot. This situation covers Lucario and Magnezone.

If a pokemon is neutral to both moves, Waterfall will have 160 power vs Brick Break's measly 75. This covers Metagross, Forretress, Skarmory, Bronzong, Scizor, Jirachi, and Registeel. Also since you use Brick Break for normal pokemon, Waterfall would have a higher base power against them too.

Heatran is obviously hit supereffective by Waterfall so Brick Break isn't even worth considering for it.

Empoleon, though, is where Brick Break is preferred. Aqua Jet, however, is needed to beat Scizor who can otherwise 2HKO you with Bullet Punch. Whichever one of these scares you more should be the move you choose. But keep in mind that Kingdra also has an anti-Empoleon move.

If you make those changes, you're lookin good, and I wish you luck with rain offense!

First of all, you don't need Rain Dance on 4 of your six Pokemon. It's nice to have the insurance, but your wasting too many moveslots. Remove Rain Dance from Kingdra, Ludicolo and Kabutops. I'd suggest you make Rotom one of your Rain inducers, and get rid of Reflect on it.

About your sweepers:

Kingdra: I've mentioned remove Rain Dance, but I'd also remove Ice Beam, just because Draco Meteor is going to hit Dragons hard enough anyway. I'd replace it with Signal Beam, to kill Celebi and Starmie. Your extra moveslot should be either HP Electric or Hydro Pump, HP Electric for Empoleon and Hydro Pump is just there to hit like a nuke in the rain. I'd suggest an EV spread of 252 Atk / 240 SpA / 16 Spe with a Naughty nature, letting you outspeed ScarfTran and break down walls with your mixed set.

Kabutops: Remove Rapid Spin and Brick Break. Since you are running a Rain team, you don't want to waste turns and momentum spinning away stuff. Put Stone Edge over Spin, X-Scissor/Aqua Jet over Brick Break. X-Scissor is again, for Celebi, and Aqua Jet allows to finish off Scizor if he's damaged enough. I would also suggest just a 32 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Def / 204 Spe EV spread with a Jolly nature, allowing you to outspeed Scarf Starmie.

Ludicolo: Replace Rain Dance with HP Electric to deal with Empoleon and Gyarados. Your team is quite DDGyara weak, as he can pretty much come in on everything but Thunder and Explosion, then bring on the pain with Dragon Dances. If he gets 2 in, it's pretty much gg.

Otherwise, not a bad team, keep up with it.

made some changes thanks to the responses above. i am having more success now. like i said in my edits above i am testing aqua jet first on kabutops and then x-scissor. i do have a feeling that x-scissor will become the move i choose so that kabutops has more type coverage.

thanks to the advice above and any more that comes.

It seems a waste to have Scizor learn Rain Dance, it does not need it, just have the common Choice Band Scizor instead. For Kingdra, you might want to opt for the Raining Dragon Dancing Mixed Sweeper set which would be much more helpful for you and is very strong I must say. Grass KNot can actually prove to be stronger or just as strong as Energy Ball so you should use that on Ludicolo instead of Energy Ball.
