My first RMT (for lack of a better title)

As the title suggests, this is my first RMT. I've been using this team for quite a long time now and I think it's rather effective, but doesn't counter some things well, as you'll see.

@ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Fake Out
- Fire Blast
- Close Combat
- U-turn

Pretty much the same as the standard Leadape, except that I replaced SR with U-turn. I Fake Out, then either U-turn if I can't handle it, or use Close Combat to lower my defenses to help ease the activation of Focus Sash then attempt to sweep with STABed and Blazed Fire Blasts. Dies very easily to fast pokemon such as Weavile, sand and hail, and entry hazards, so I put this at the lead for safety. I've also noticed I don't have any priority moves in my team, so I may swap Close Combat for Mach Punch.

477.png
@ Life Orb
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP/40 Atk/216 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Roost

Swords Dance up and sweep. Roost when low on health. Switch to Empoleon if someone decides to destroy it with Ice/Water attacks. Enough said.

398.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/4 Spd/252 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Yawn

My tank. With so many resists, it'll be easy to bring it in. Forms a good pair with Gliscor. Since I've no form of real phazing, I'm thinking of swapping Yawn with Roar to force out things like Resttalk Curslax who can pose a serious threat to my team.

493.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Ice Beam
- Charge Beam

Status absorber + wall. Nothing much to be said here, other than it can be taken down rather easily by boosted attacks (DDTar Pursuit, etc). I'm considering using Dusknoir instead.

130.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/108 Atk/100 Def/144 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Taunt

Bulky DD Gyarados. When paired with Magnezone, it resists every type in the game. DD up and sweep. Taunt statusers. It's still destroyed by random Thunderbolts though (but I should know better than to keep it in :p).

467.png
@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Traps steels (sorta) and sweeps with its mediocre speed. Explodes when necessary.

Note: I don't have a spinner and have no ideas for one.

Thanks in advance.

Not bad.

I'd keep Stealth Rock on this team however - other than Cress getting like +6 SAtk you really have nothing for Zapdos other than to hit it with Gliscor and hope it's not Timid. CBTar also gives you problems; your best "counter" to it is a LO sweeper. LO DD Tar gives you nightmares unless Infernape is still alive.

Standard Swampert (252 HP 168 Def 90 SDef, Surf/Ice Beam/Earthquake/Stealth Rock) could work well there over Cresselia, as it can at least hold up a bit better against Tyranitar and Zapdos (provided it lacks HP Grass). You can run Curse Restalk Swampert if you decide to put SR on Infernape.

Does this team neccesarily need to trap steels? Bronzong will likely EQ Magnezone which fails to OHKO, Scizor is hardly a threat to a team with Gliscor and Gyarados, and if Infernape is still in play, then Skarmory shouldn't be a problem overall. Also, by removing Cresselia you remove your Gyarados counter, so to remedy this, I would add Celebi with 252 HP / 100 Def / 68 Spd / 90 SAtk with Grass Knot/HP Fire/Recover/Thunder Wave.

HP Fire allows you to suprise Scizor by outspeeding it at all times while KOing with HP Fire, while Thunder Wave shuts down LO Gyarados which would normally beat Celebi, and shuts down many physical threats which like to switch in on Celebi - Salamence, Gengar, and Weavile for instance.

Thanks for responding. Ok I'll make the adjustments. Thanks very much! :)

May I suggest a better moveset for you cresselia?

Cresselia@ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Moonlight
- Reflect
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave

It's not a bad team at all.

If Infernape is going to attack rather than lay down SR, might as well carry a Choice Band for more power, especially since it is carrying weak unSTABed attacks.

Gliscor is usually better left as a wall or a tank rather than a sweeper, so maybe Tyranitar or something like that for a replacement?

I don't see too much need for a Rapid Spinner on this team. Gyarados is the only weak one, and about everyone else is neutral to it or resists it. If you must have one. Donphan could replace Gliscor. The moveset I'd suggest is:
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard / Knock off
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 Hp / Divide up the remaining 256 EVs between Atk and Def as you deem necessary.

SR is here because you don't have it. It's the basic Donphan set, and I think it works the best,

Do put Roar on Empoleon. Yawn is left to those pHazers that don't get Roar (like Kingdra.)

Hey hey, this is a great team, though something needs some minor tweaking.

Your team lacks Stealth Rock. This isn't a bad thing at al, and in fact you might not need it. If you DO choose to have it though it'll make Gliscor sweeping potential that much more deadly. Stealth Rocks fit on your Infernape lead quite easily, only having to replace U-Turn with Stealth Rocks:

Infernape @ Focus Sash
Hasty Nature
64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
- Fake Out
- Stealth Rocks
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast.

With this set, you'll still stop common leads Fake Out + Close Combat for Tyranitar and Aerodactyal, Fake Out + Fire Blast for everything else. Rocks makes this set. Infernape is one of the fastest non scarf pokemon that can set rocks down and possible a pokemon or two. The two attacking moves are for STAB.

Now for Gliscor, Lucario is a dying pokemon. He just cannot keep up with todays threats as a pokemon. Now that things like Zapdos carry Heat Wave and Scarf Heatran is bigger than ever most teams have given up on a slow pokemon like him. This is not saying the odd Lucario isn't a threat, but it's not one you should be concerned about on a team where you have Bulky Gyarados and a Magnezone. I would say make keep Gliscor pretty much the same, except make his nature Adamant: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 Def
This set allows you to OHKO Vaporeon with a +2 Earthquake and will OHKO a Gyarados switchin no matter what with Stone Edge. The thing is, if you want this pokemon to outspeed nutral base 100's give it Jolly nature, though you won't have the shot at OHKOing Vaporeon.

Empoleon isn't that great of a tank, considering him being weak to Earthquake (the most common move in OU). Though one thing he is fantastic at is being a late game sweeper.

Empoleon @ Petaya Berry
Modest Nature
12 HP / 252 SpA / 12 SpD / 232 Spe
- Agility
- Substitute
- Hydro Pump
- Grass Knot
This is a powerful late game sweeper, simply come in one one of this resistances and then use agility as they switch out. You then use substitute to activate Petaya Berry at 25% and thus begins your sweep. Hydro Pump with the boost will OHKO a salamence and many other things. Consider how Salamence resists Water attacks and how he isn't exactly frail. Grass Knot is used for hitting other Bulky Waters that would want to stall you.

I'm more of a fan of the 252 / 252 / 6 @ Life Orb Gyarados myself, but if it works than it really shouldn't be an issue.

Hope I helped,
Empoleon

It's not critical that you have a Spinner on your team since you've only one SR-weak critter. One suggestion though, just because 'Ape can't afford to miss, why not go with Flamethrower over Fire Blast?
