My First RMT on Smogon!

Hello all! I am Rakfa, the Pokemon master! I've been very into the competitive scene since the DPP tiers stabilized. I've always loved the fire / water / grass synergy as I'm sure anyone else who has ever used the CelePerTran combo has as well. This is my first team I've ever made with any moderate success so I figured I'd post it here. I've gone with a couple suggestions on my Chandelure and I find he works even better now! XD Criticism is greatly appreciated!

My Attempt at Bulky Offense
The Cutest Mon Ever
images

Shaymin @ Life Orb
Natural Cure
4 HP / 252 Sp Atk / 252 Spe
Timid
-Seed Flare
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power (Ice)
-Rest

Let me just take a minute to rant about the awesomeness that is Shaymin. As if an adorable baby chia pet with base 100's all around isn't cool enough, it gets the absurdly useful Natural Cure trait. With it's natural bulk, Shaymin can shrug off that Life Orb recoil with nothing more than a Rest and a switch. Shooting off Seed Flares in Jellicent's face is what made me want to pick this mon initially. Earth Power provides great supplemental coverage and Hidden Power (Ice) is for all the ice crux pokes like Dragonite, Gliscor, and Landorus who give me so much trouble. I have been thinking of changing my Hidden Power type to fire.

Such Huge Power!
images

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Huge Power
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant
-Aqua Jet
-Waterfall
-Superpower
-Ice Punch

The original goal of this team was to clear the way for an Azumarill sweep. Shaymin helps accomplish this with its ability to beat Azumarill's number one enemy; Jellicent. After jelly is gone, there's not much else one can throw in this little rabbit's way. Waterfall nails mons trying to predict safe switch ins and Aqua Jet is obviously Azumarill's claim to fame. The last two moves just help me round out coverage and predict super effective hits on the switch. Defensively, Azumarill can take hits better than many think and all it takes is one resisted hit to start spamming Aqua Jet.

Not Your Average Dragon
images

Salamence @ Leftovers
Intimidate
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Sp Def
Relaxed
-Flamethrower
-Dragon Tail
-Roost
-Wish

With a sore lack of dedicated walls, this team greatly appreciates Salamence's wishes. The EV's let me wall physical attackers to death with intimidate. Super effective ice and rock attacks are very detrimental to my Salamence's progress so Roost is awesome to help stall them out. Wish and Roost consecutively is such a fat heal that I opted for two healing moves on the set. Dragon Tail wracks up the hazard damage while still putting out considerable power and Flamethrower just beats Scizor and Ferrothorn.

Standard Hazards
images

Forretress @ Shed Shell
Sturdy
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp Def
Sassy
-Rapid Spin
-Spikes
-Stealth Rock
-Gyro Ball

If I wanted my Salamence to succeed, I knew that those rocks would have to go. Forretress lets me spin rocks away while setting his own up. It is for this reason alone that I chose him over Ferrothorn as I realize his stats are superior. I went with a Sassy nature and 252 Sp Def EV's to sponge special attacks coming my way. Forretress is also the only dragon resist on this team and everyone needs one of those. It is for this reason that I run Shed Shell over Leftovers. Magnezone is so lame!

The Speedy Scarfer
images

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Flash Fire
4 HP / 252 Sp Atk / 252 Spe
Timid
-Energy Ball
-Fire Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power (Fighting)

Chandelure was a bit of an afterthought when constructing this team. However it has excellent synergy with its teammates by typing alone. Its ghost typing lets it block Rapid Spins trying to remove my hazards, and its fire typing completes the ever common fire / water / grass core present on my team. I originally had my Chandelure running a Substitute set, but I love the extra speed you get with a scarf. There's very little that doesn't fear Chandy with such superb coverage. I opted for Hidden Power (Fighting) over ice to slam Balloon Heatran who was walling me to hell and back.

Hariyama?
images

Hariyama @ Leftovers
Thick Fat
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave
-Whirlwind
-Payback
-Cross Chop
-Stone Edge

I realize that Hariyama is largely outclassed this generation by Throh (defensively) and Conkeldurr (both offensively and defensively.) I did make it a point to differentiate myself as much from these mons with Thick Fat. The ice and fire resistances are great on this team. Whirlwind lets me wrack up some more hazard damage and Cross Chop hits people so unexpectedly hard. Payback hits those ghosts and psychics, and Stone Edge gives me a way to beat flyers, which I was sorely missing before. Hariyama's biggest perk is his rock resistance which two of my pokes are weak to. I am more than open to suggestion on this guy.

So there it is guys! Please rate and be gentle on this RMT virgin. :toast:

I think u could Scarf Chandelure and make it a sweeper. Just change the set to Overheat, Energy Ball (for bulky waters), Shadow Ball and HP (i can't think of what) probably Ice to cover Dragons.

Wooo!

Thanks man! Scarf Chandelure has really been working out. Please, keep hitting me with your criticisms! :toast:

Okay, time to hammer out the flaws in this team. First of all, why are you using a Wallmence set?! Although it adds another water type to your team, you need to add Vaporeon, as it is bulky enough to receive both physical and special attacks, and that big base 130 Hp heals for a lot, so try this out.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Bold
EV's: 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
-Wish
-Protect
-Surf
-Ice Beam
Okay, when people use the term "bulky water", they are basically referring to Vaporeon. Wish and Protect work great with Toxic stalling, and you can easily pass those wishes to any other of your pokemon by switching in on a resisted attack. Surf is there because it does a decent amount of damage off a base 110 Special Attack, and Ice Beam is there to deal with Dragons and Grass types. This is much bulkier then Salamence, and doesn't have a weakness to two of the best attacking types in the game. If you choose to ignore this, then at least put most of the EV's in Salamence in Special Defense, as it has the ability Intimidate, which should lower Attack enough.

I would also change Spikes to Toxic Spikes on Forretress because your team seems to like Toxic stall. As for Hariyama, I would replace him with Heatran, who also has resistances to Fire and Ice, and besides, Hariyama is a pretty cool guy but has pretty bad base defense stats.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Calm
EV's: 244 Hp/ 36 Sp. Atk/ 12 SpD/ 216 Spe.
-Roar/Torment
-Protect
-Substitute
-Flamethrower
You want a pokemon to abuse Toxic Spikes? Heatran is one of those pokemon. This is just like the set I recommended to another stall user, but I tweaked it to be a phaser. Protect and Substitute just scream Toxic Stall if you decide to run Roar, and Flamethrower is there over Lava Plume because the 30% chance to burn is useless on a poisoned pokemon, and the 100 accuracy is more reliable then the 85 Fire Blast gives. If you decide to run Torment, then this is what you do. Torment a pokemon and set up a Substitute, most pokemon only have one move that can break Heatrans sub, like a STAB or super effective move. The thing you want to do is use Protect on the turn you think they will use the Sub breaking move, then use Flamethrower or Substitute on the next turn, while Toxic builds up gradually. Whichever sounds more appealing to you.
