XY UU My First RMT (Peaked #26)

Introduction:

Hello friends, my name is ImaDerpopotimus and this is my first RMT. I used this team to hit #26 on the ladder back in September.

Team:

This team is VoltTurn with a Regenerator, because I love VoltTurn and I want to freely double switch with my wall. I specifically made this team to counter stall by pressuring teams to make 50/50s. Let's go into a deeper analysis to see how each of these Pokémon (except Alomomola) forces these 50/50s.

638Cobalion.png

Coberlion (Cobalion) Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 SpAtk/ 252 Spd
Naive Nature
Close Combat
Iron Head
Stealth Rock
Volt Switch

This Cobalion is part of my "secret" stall breaking core that I have used since 5th gen. In this gen, it kills special walls like Florges and Blissey that give my Rotom and Hydregion problems. Roger also has great resistances, access to Volt Switch and enough speed to outspeed Lucario and LO Mienshao.

479Rotom-Mow.png

Scrotom (Rotom-M) Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpAtk/ 4 SpDef/ 252 Spd
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
Thunderbolt
Trick
Leaf Storm
Volt Switch

Rotom-M is the second part of my stall breaker core. While Cobalion deals with common special threats, this powerhouse demolishes physical walls with its Choice Specs. Just like Cobalion, it can also Volt Switch on the predicted switch. Unlike most Volt Switchers; however, Rotom can OHKO any ground type that attempts to come in on a Volt Switch. That's why I pick grass over any other Rotom type. Also, water resists are helpful!

594Alomomola.png

Marmalade (Alomomola) Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Hp/ 252 Def/ 4 Spd
IVs: 0 Atk
Bold Nature
Scald
Toxic
Wish
Protect

My stall breaker core is terribly weak to fire, so I need a resist. I also wanted Regenerator as my team switches alot. With Slowbro banned, I chose Alomomola as my bulky water. I picked Scald over Knock Off as my attacking move cause burns make me happy. Anything that I would rather poison, I use toxic on. Wish and protect help Alomomola toxic stall big threats and heal up my team. Rocky helmet punishes other U-turn users which could be difficult to play against otherwise. All is not well with my lovely fish though. It has pitiful Special Defense and I really need a ground-type. I may replace this guy with Swampert, but then I lose longevity. I would run Rest/Talk on it, but Swampert doesn't have the bulk to pull it off. Maybe when ORAS comes out I'll use RestTalk Mega-Swampert.

620Mienshao.png

Jiffy (Mienshao) @Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 SpDef/ 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
Hi Jump Kick
U-turn
Knock Off
Aerial Ace/ Poison Jab/ Stone Edge

Mienshao is part of the double scarf core of my team, and is my main sweeper. With it's amazing speed I can grab momentum against almost anything with U-turn and revenge kill with Hi Jump Kick. Reckless is chosen over Regenerator for added sweeping potential with HJK. Knock off is Knock off and my last move is just filler. I usually run Aerial Ace for Toxicroak, but Poison Jab and Stone Edge are good options as well.

635Hydreigon.png

Treadmill (Hydregion) @Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpAtk/ 4 SpDef/ 252 Spd
Timid Nature
Draco Meteor
U-turn
Dark Pulse
Fire Blast

Treadmill is my second scarfer. Like Mienshao, he grabs momentum with U-turn and kills things with his STAB(s). Fire Blast is for those bulky Fortresses who can tank Hi Jump Kicks and Close Combats. Hydregion also helps check Honchkrow, slower dragons, and Chandelure. It's great resists are so helpful in dealing with Sucker Punch and Knock Off spam when Cobalion is weak.

169Crobat.png

Crow Bat (Crobat) Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
Defog
Roost
Brave Bird
U-turn

Crobat was the last addition to my team as I noticed was terribly weak to Fighting and Fairy. He also Defogs which is important to my continually switching team. Crobat also helps against Chesnaught which gives this team problems. I run U-turn for momentum, but I would love to run Taunt also. I run Infiltrator because Jirachi doesn't scare me when I have Rocky Helmet Alomomola.

Threats:
Mega Ampharos:
I have no switch-ons for this poke and the only Pokemon that can kill it is Hydregion. It's extremely bulky and extremely powerful. This is one of the reasons I need a ground type (like Mega Swampert)
Nidoqueen: Being another reason to need a ground type, this thing can't be OHKOed by even Leaf Storm and has the coverage to severely dent my team.
Choice Scarf Raikou: If only I had a ground type... This thing can freely Volt Switch on me and outspends my entire team.
Haxorus: It's gg if it gets +2 speed
Lucario: It's gg if it is Nasty Plot and Crobat is weak. The physical one is threatening too, but Cobalion outspends it and resists Espeed.
Choice Specs Chandelure: I don't really have a specially defensive poke to take this monster on. Hydregion is 2HKOed
Most Special Treats also hurt this team, but if you can play around them and gain momentum, you will have the advantage.

Closing:

Overall, this team is quite frail, but it's offense and pace are hard to keep up with. If you play to its strengths, I'm sure the team will do wonders for you! Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Bye! ;)

Hi ImaDerpopotimus I like the idea of your team but to me the one big flaw is Alomomola which really looks like it doesn't belong. You mentioned needing a Fire resist so you put on Alomomola, but I just see it as a full stop to all the momentum that you worked hard to build up by VoltTurning with your other Pokemon. If you're looking for a Fire resist that's better suited for this team, I'd recommend Suicune over Alomomola as it's a sturdy Water type that can take all kinds of Fire moves, but can also double as a win condition that can be terribly difficult to take out once it sets up a few Calm Minds. If you want to keep the same level of physical bulk, you can just run standard.Crocune with Rest/Sleep Talk/Calm Mind/Scald with max HP and max Defense. However, you can also opt for a more offensive EV spread if that suits you.

Secondly, I'm not really a huge fan of having dual scarfers because you're already outspeeding the entire tier with one of them, so a second one isn't really necessary. Instead of Scarf Hydreigon, I'd recommend Life Orb Hydreigon. Your dual STABs should stay how they are, and I'd recommend Roost in the third slot to be able to heal off the extra recoil you'll be taking. Also, Hydreigon is your main (only?) answer to Chandelure so being able to Roost off the damage you'll take from it will definitely come in handy. With the fourth slot, you can use either Superpower or Flash Cannon: Superpower obviously hits Blissey and Umbreon and also Lucario looking to take advantage of a free switch into Hydreigon, while Flash Cannon deals huge damage to the fairies of the tier, even Florges. Again, I don't think you'll miss the extra speed as you've already got Scarf Mienshao, Crobat, and Cobalion as above-average fast mons on your team.

If you want to take it a step further, you could consider swapping your SR Cobalion/LO Hydreigon duo with something like SR Nidoqueen/a Life Orb/Choice Band Physical Pokemon (Lucario, Infernape, Entei) or just play around with that pair. I think Nidoqueen could provide a handy Electric immunity for your team, but I can't see where to put it on your currently team without drastically altering it which I'm not here to do.

Anyway TL;DR: Alomomola to Crocune since it's better suited for your team, Hydreigon to Life Orb instead of Scarf since your team is already pretty fast and the wall breaking power will definitely come in handy.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful, and good luck using this team in the future!

Importables:
Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Timid/Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Roost
- Flash Cannon/Superpower
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def/ 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Thanks Dudeman130498 for your suggestions; hopefully I get more helpful comments like yours in the future. I'm not too sure about the Suicune idea. My intent was never to use set-up sweepers in the first place, but I could see how it could be beneficial to have one. I usually double switch alot with Alomomola, so that is why I desperately need long lasting poke. I'll try testing it out though. The offensive version seems more like me.
I like the idea of LO on Hydregion, but I also like outrunning +1 Haxorus, Mega Absol (since it outspeeds Cobalion and OHKOes Mienshao at +2), and Mega Alakazam (since Crobat can't outrun it and Mienshao can't OHKO). The extra power; however, can really hurt walls without needing to use Rotom and Roost really helps me check things like Chandelure. There are pros and cons to both of these suggestions. I'll see what works for me when I test the sets out. Thanks man!
