So I just started getting into competitive battling and really need the harshest criticize and opinions because I need help on the direction I should be going with my team.
*Note- Some sets are standard with minor edits.
First lets start off with my lead.
Swampert@Leftovers
Torrent
Relaxed Nature
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpA
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
I chose Swampert because of its great defenses and is decent as a mixed attacker. He gets off Stealth Rock and can almost always take the opponents first attack (Unless it happens to be grass) And with his grass weakness in mind I chose my next member, Skarmory, as the Lead support.
Skarmory @ Leftovers/Shed Shell
Nature: Impish
Ability: Sturdy
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpD
-Spikes
-Roost
-Brave Bird
-Whirlwind
So my next member, Skarmory, is here to basically defend Swampert from any major threats like grass types or anything he cant defend. Skarmory is also the perfect teammate for Swampert because they both defend each others major weaknesses. Skarmory also gets off the Spikes along with the Stealth rocks from Swampert.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If my team was a Essay then I guess this section of Pokemon would be the Body. :)
Zoroark@Choice Scarf
~Timid
~Illusion
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Dark Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
- Extrasensory
Ahh Zoroark, this guy has everyone second guessing their strategies. Zoroark is not only here to illusion the unsuspecting opponent, but also to better cover his teammates weaknesses. My only worry is that he dies so quickly if I make even the slightest of mistakes or misjudge even a little.
Latios @Life Orb
~Timid
~Levitate
4 HP/ 252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Sp
-Ice Beam*
-Dragon Pulse
-Psyshock
-Hidden Power (Fire)
What can I say? I'm really not to sure about Latios' role in the team other than support for Zoroark's weaknesses, he only get Dragon Dance off 50% of the time depending on the match up, Dragon Pulse instead of Draco Meteor? that's unheard of! Yea, I guess but Dragon dance takes care of that I suppose.
Mienshao @Life Orb
~Jolly
~Regenorator
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Sp
-HJK
-U-turn
-Swords Dance
-Substitute
You know, the more I type the more I realize whats wrong with some of these guys and my overall team "Synergy" if you will. I'm at my worst when I have to set I to much, especially with all of these glass cannons. But anyways, the way I envisioned Mienshao is that she would get the Sub up, Swords Dance at least once, then proceed to sweep. With U-turn being an emergency abort and heal.
------------------------------
Conclusion?
Heatran @Choice Specs
~Timid
~Flash Fire
4 HP/ 252 Sp. Atk/252 Spd
-Overheat
-Dragon Pulse
-Earth Power
-Hidden Power Grass
Another Swampert cover and attempt at a somewhat decent Special Sweeper, I don't worry about Ground to much because of Swampert and Skarmory but Fighting plays a big role in owning me with most of my most crucial Pokemon getting b-slapped by them. Heatran's role is primarily dishing out attacks that cover most of my other Pokemon.
--------------------------------------
So yea in all honesty I don't know to much about strategies but gave my best to describe the role of my team members although all I really did was talk about type coverage which is only half the battle. So if anyone could provide ANY kind of criticism/comment or opinion on members move-sets etc, I'm attempting to completely revamp this team because of my excitement to complete my first competitive team!
