My first RMT! = )

Hi! I'm Dawnrider, and I joined just recently. I learned most of my stuff while playing, and I've finally got a good team, but it still loses every now and then. Any way I can improve this team?

Electrode @ Life Orb
Ability: Static
EVs: 6 HP, 252 Def, 252 SpA
Nature: Adamant
Taunt
Explosion
Thunderbolt
Substitute

This guy is really purposeless. Most of the people out there who love to set up entry hazards get turned off by my fast taunt. Then Electrode explodes, killing the lead before taunt wears off. Switch, and I'll just kill that. I never really gave Substitute a purpose in my moveset here, so if anyone can tell me what to switch substitute with, that'd be great.

Azelf @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Def, 252 Spe, 6 SpD
Nature: Timid
Explosion
Hidden Power
Nasty Plot
Psychic

Azelf is a sweepr, and really not much else. He's got nasty plot and psychic on his side for a great stat-up + STAB, and I gave him hidden-power fighting for the ones resisting Psychic. I have explosion on him for emergencies only, since I couldn't find any other useful move.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP, 32 Spe, 48 SpA, 176 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Will-o-wisp
Wish

Gardevoir is a strictly supportive pokemon. Honestly, I think that it breaks my offensive momentum, but it really doesn't matter much; it's been able to do a bit of it's own sweeping, Will-o-wisp is great for those pesky pokemon who resist both psychic and thunderbolt; wish is for when pokemon are stalling.

Heracross @ Salac Berry
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk; 126 SpA; 126 Spe; 6 Def
Nature: Lonely
Close Combat
Megahorn
Stone Edge
Toxic

Heracross, as weird as his moveset is, actually works. I've been sweeping using him without any stat-boosting moves, and toxic usually takes care of the ones that resist this guy. I'm still not sure whether Stone Edge is a special move or not, so please tell me if it is, then I can switch teh EVs.

*UPDATE* Thanks for telling me!

Gliscor @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 6 Atk; 252 Def, 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Aerial Ace
Roost

Gliscor is my best pokemon; it has been swordsdancing and sweeping it's way to victory almost every time. One thing I noticed is that people must think Sandveil is more commonly used, since there are sandstorm teams out there. However, I use Hyper Cutter to prevent the lowering of attack. Then I sweep, using Roost to heal, and occasionally stall.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk, 6 def, 252 Spe
Moves
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Stone Edge (Might switch to Earthquake)

Gyarados is another favorite of mine; he always manages to kill off at least one pokemon in a battle. Stone edge, while powerful, might get switched out for Earthquake, due to electric types always killing my Gyarados. If someone could judge my decision on that one, please do.

Well, this is my team! One thing to note is I haven't got any gimmicks; no stalls, no bellydrumming, etc. It's just this all-round offensive team. If you can rate my team, please do. I could use the help!

Hi,

This seems a good team, Although it needs minor changes. First of all, you should change Electrode's nature > Naive nature. Sure Electrode's fast but without speed EV's Electrode can't Taunt the opposing lead. Adamant Electrode without Speed EV's reaches a speed stat of 316, which is not enough. So, you might want to test this set.

Electrode | Life Orb | Static
Naive Nature | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Taunt / Thunderbolt / Explosion / HP[Grass]

Electrode has enough SpA to and extremely good Speed, enough to do some damage and to counter the opposing lead. HP[Grass] is for Swampert, Thunderbolt is your reliable STAB move and Explosion...You know it. Naive Nature gives you a positive nature on speed allowing you to outspeed every lead in OU as well as allowing you to Maximize the use of Explosion and Tbolt. You can run more Attack EV's if you want.

Second, what's with your EV spread on Azelf? It's a sweeper, meaning it should have max attack/Special attack. So, your EV spread should be like this, 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe. Timid Nature would lessen the power of your Explosion so running Naive nature would benefit. Next is your Gardevoir's nature, Adamant? change it to Calm Nature. Heracross doesn't run any Special based moves so wasting 126 EV's on Special Attack sucks.

Lastly, your team is extremely weak to pokemon's like DDtar, DDmence, DDgyara, CBzor and SDluke. Sure you have Gliscor to counter Scizor and Lucario, but Gliscor won't like Salamence or Gyarados. Salamence can easily get a +1(same as Gyarados) and then sweep. To solve your problem against those threats, I suggest Choice Scarf Jirachi, it will solve your problem.

Jirachi | Choice Scarf | Serene Grace
Jolly Nature | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Iron Head / Fire Punch / Ice Punch / Thunderpunch

With Jirachi, it solves your problem against the threats I said. Iron head has a 30% Flinch rate, but with Serene Grace(doubles), it instantly becomes a 60% Flinch rate, great right? Anyways, it solves your problem against Tyranitar, Fire Punch solves your problem against Lucario, Scizor and other steel-types, Ice punch are for Dragon's, and Thunderpunch are for Vaporeon, Gyarados and other bulky water. If your going for what I suggested, change Heracross > Jirachi. That's all I can do for now, I hope this helps! Good Luck!

Oh...

1: Thanks for the help
2: I always thought stone edge was special-based...but ok, the info helps!
3: What do you suggest I switch out for Jirachi?

Electrode @ Life Orb
Ability: Static
EVs: 6 HP, 252 Def, 252 SpA
Nature: Adamant
Taunt
Explosion
Thunderbolt
Substitute

You know, Aerodactyl would actually be a better choice for a lead. It's got 10 base speed less but it sets SR up and your team really needs it, especially Gyarados.
Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Jolly Nature
252 ATK, 252 SPE, 6 HP
-Stealth Rock
-Taunt
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
This plays very similarly to Electrode, barring Explosion

Azelf @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Def, 252 Spe, 6 SpD
Nature: Timid
Explosion
Hidden Power
Nasty Plot
Psychic

What's up with the DEF EV? You don't need that. You should go 252 SPE, 252 SPA, 6 HP. For Nasty Plot sweepers (glad to see another one), you should have Flame Thrower over Explosion and Grass Knot over HP. If you must use HP, use HP Ground so you can kill Heatrans.

Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP, 32 Spe, 48 SpA, 176 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Will-o-wisp
Wish

Is it wish support you need? Then Wishrachi is perfect for the job. Gardevoir is great, but its typing lets it down. So, I suggest using Jirachi for Wishpassing.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
240 HP / 160 Def / 76 SpD / 32 Spe
Impish Nature
-Wish
-U-Turn
-Protect
-Iron Head
Has better typing, better defensive stats and is generally better at passing Wish in OU.

Heracross @ Salac Berry
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk; 126 SpA; 126 Spe; 6 Def
Nature: Lonely
Close Combat
Megahorn
Stone Edge
Toxic

Generally, if you run a Salac Berry, you want to have Substitute. In fact, I do suggest running Sub over Toxic. Also, don't use a Lonely Nature. Use an Adamant or Jolly Nature. Both help much more than Lonely.

Gliscor @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 6 Atk; 252 Def, 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Aerial Ace
Roost

I would never recommend using Sitrus Berry. Leftovers is much better for Gliscor. Also, I suggest Stone Edge over Aerial Ace. Finally, use Sand Veil as its ability. Sand Veil does not affect the Evasion Clause in any way and helps reduce the threat that counters normally pose outside of Sandstorm.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk, 6 def, 252 Spe
Moves
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Stone Edge (Might switch to Earthquake)
Have Earthquake over Stone Edge definately. Also, what nature is your Gyarados? It should be an Adamant Nature. Also, Life Orb really helps Gyarados take opposing Pokemon

I agree with everything Sheshi said, although I feel that Ice Fang on Gliscor would make a better substitute over your Aerial Ace. The STAB is good and everything, but Ice Fang has much better type coverage. I'd also likely replace Swords Dance with Agility...not sure about that entirely, though.

You need to expand your descriptions for Electrode and Heracross or I'll have to lock this thread.
