My First RMT

Hello everyone, this is my first RMT and actually is my first time really getting into competitive battling. I've been usin shoddy for about a week, and I came up with this team, and so far I've been doing pretty well. Anyway,
Team At A Glance

I picked heatran as my main sweeper, and started with suicune and celebi as they make an excellent base for a team. I then chose gliscor to be my lead, because from trying out other teams, I always hated facing him. Then I picked forretress as a t spiker and a spinner. Finally machamp because...well I guess I thought he was powerful.

Indepth Look

GLISCOR.png

Gliscor @ Leftovers
Nature: Jolly, Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 204 HP/ 88 Atk/ 216 Spe
-Earthquake
-Roost
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock
I wanted to go with a set that I knew worked, however, I didn't like roost, as I never really had to use it. So I opted to go with U-turn, which is good against leads like Azelf, and also for scouting. I always get stealth rock up, and then either switch out to foretress for T spikes/spikes, ot continue with earthquake, although the latter doesn't work against a few common leads. However I am very impressed wit this pokemon in general.
*Changed U-turn to Roost to prevent Lucario from sweeping*

Forretress.gif

Forretress @ Shed Shell
Nature: Relaxed, Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/ 112 Atk/ 144 Def
-Toxic Spikes
-Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Explosion
I wanted a rapid spinner, however i didn't want to use starmie as I already had a suicune, and foretress kind of fit in. I usually switch him in after gliscor, assuming it isn't something he's weak to. Since the lead is either dead or weak, I usually rapid spin the rocks away, and set up T spikes, or spikes. The EVs in Atk are for Explosion, which can take out dragons, as well as fires trying to take him out.
celebi.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold, Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/ 220 Def/ 36 Spe
-Grass Knot
-Hidden power [Fire]
-Thunder Wave
-Recover
Celebi is my Gyara and T-tar wall. Also killing other grass/ice types with hp fire, and crippling almost everything with thunder wave, celebi is a great pokemon. Grass knot kills swampert, and other ground types, thunder wave for crippling things like gyara, and recover to heal itself after the fact. Also being able to take out grass and ice types with hp fire. Celebi is a regular defensive set, and even though very common, definitly works.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Nature: Timid, Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
-Calm mind
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power [Electric]
-Surf
Decided to switch from a regular Crocune to an offensive Suicune. Ice beam will really help with dragons, as well as Hp Electric for other waters. Surf to take out grounds/fires etc. Crocune really wasn't working out, however I really like the Celebi/suicune/heatran trio, as they make a great core, and I feel this set does the team better justice.

machamp.png

Machamp @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant, Ability: No Guard
EVs: 248 HP/ 252 Atk/ 8 Spe
-Substitute
-Dynamicpunch
-Payback
-Stone Edge
This thing is a power house. I took the sub+3 attacks from smogon, but found I wasn't using sub much, so I replaced with Ice punch and it really helps do some damage, especially against dragons I would otherwise have trouble with, like mence. I'm using stone edge, as the accuracy is 100% with No Guard. I don't know if I should switch back to sub, but it didn't really help before, so maybe a completely different set would be more beneficial.
*Switched out Ice Punch for Substitute*

heatran.png

Heatran @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid, Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 252 SpA
-Earth Power
-Fire Blast
-Dragon Pulse
-Hidden Power [Grass]
This is my main sweeper. I based my team off of him, which is why i included suicune and celebi. It's such a great feeling when you predict right, switch him into a fire blast or overheat, and just sweep, or watch your opponent ragequit. Earth power helps take out other heatrans, and other fires. Overall I think he's one of the best sweepers in the metagame.

Well, I took all the sets from smogon, as I'm new and really didn't know what I was doing. I did change some of them a little, although it might not have been for the better. Please don't be afraid to be brutal, as I need to learn how to build good teams. I do seem to have a weakness to dragons, especially if my machamp is gone, because then I don't even have a rock move. I also don't really have an answer to gengar, aside from machamps payback. Change any pokemon you like, except for heatran. I also don't mind changing EVs or moves. Thanks for reading and rating, all help is appreciated.

Really quick rate here....

Why does Forretress have a Signal Beam? You know it's a special move, and Forretress should never use a special move. Replace it with Spikes.

Yeah, a 75 Base Power STAB fired off of 156 SpAtk isnt gonna do much.

Also you should add more details to your descriptions or your thread might get closed (Like mine was)

for fortress, replace earthquake with explosion. All fire pokemon will OHKO you, and explosion is useful. Also I think you'd be better with the choice scarf machamp.

Looks like a very decent team.

With No Guard Stone Edge has 100% accuracy and is as such superior to Rock Slide. Bullet punch is also pretty useless outside of the lead position. You should use Sub whenever you can with Machamp. If you use it and Rotom comes in you can hit it with Payback. Options like Ice Punch, Bulk Up and even Toxic are probably more useful than bullet punch.

I see a rather large DDmence weakness, given that the only pokemon who can take a +1 Outrage (well Celebi can if its in perfect shape) can't do shit back. Similarly Mixmence will cause some serious trouble. Therefore I would consider a Shuca berry on Heatran, with Dragon pulse, so that you can take out a mixmence or a DDmence locked into Outrage.

edit - explosion Forretress could work OK for DDmence. And seriously, Scarf Machamp is terrible - too slow, and gets beaten easily by any ghost, whilst not making any use of pretty good defenses.

Good luck

Well, I really like the power I get from LO on Heatran, so I'll keep using that, unless I really encounter a lot of problems from mence. I replaced Bullet punch with Ice punch on Machamp, to help with the mence problem. Also replaced earthquake with explosion on Forry. Thanks for the rates, really appreciate it.

Cool team, On Gliscor I don't think you really need attack EVs on Gliscor you might want to just Opt it into 252 Hp / 252 Spd / 4 Def since you don't really need attack on it plus using those EVs on Gliscor it will give you 317 speed and the ability to outspeed most Gliscors if you're really bored of getting outspeed by other similiar Gliscor leads. As said above you might want to try out Explosion on Forry to get rid of DD Mence problem which seems like it could damage your team since Suicune doesn't have Ice beam to revenge kill it when it is stuck on the Outrage for the most part.

Offensivly what I see that can hurt your team real bad is Nasty plot Infernape once it gets 1 Nasty Plot it has the ability to sweep your entire team, so what you can do to fix this is you might want to try out and replace your weakest link which in this case from what I see is Suicune I don't see it doing anything on your team, so what you can replace Suicune with is Scarf Flygon what this does is the ability to Outspeed Infernape aswell as it takes care of your DD Mence problems for sure and any other types of Dancing Dragons.

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Jolly / Ability: Levitate
Evs: 4 Hp / 252 Att / 252 Spd
Moveset: Outrage, Earthquake, U-Turn, Fire Blast

The other minor nitpick you'd might also like to change is Stone Edge > Rock Slide due to the amount of damage while having still the ability to have 100% accuracy move so no reason to opt to Rock Slide you for sure want to have Stone Edge in replace.

Hey I got your PM, let's get down to business...

This team is pretty weak to DDMence (who isn't?). I'd give Suicune Leftovers to better deal with him for an outrage. This also alleviates the weakness to Bulky Dos with Bounce this team has.

Lucario also has some fun with this team, only stopped by Gliscor. For this reason, I'd really run Roost over U-turn- if Gliscor dies, Lucario can sweep everyone. Alternatively, you could give Heatran a scarf, but keep in mind this is only a revenge killing option and means Lucario will almost always get a kill.

That's all I got- great first team, mine was a lot worse. :)

Is there a different option for lucario? I used to have roost on Gliscor, however with only 1 attacking move he wasn't able to do anything. I'll change it for now, and hopefully theres a different solution...

Well, I suppose if you could fit a physical Jirachi somewhere on the team, that would do fine. Perhaps over Celebi or Forretress. Beyond that, I don't really see any other options besides scarfing Tran.

Well one small issue that I see is the lack of a spin blocker. Spending 4 turns to lay your entry hazards with nothnig to stop a rapid spin I feel is asking for trouble. Seeing that i had an disagreement in another RMT I will keep this short but I think that investing in a spin blocker, perhapes over Celebi would be an excelent investment for your team

Have a Nice Day!

I notice that you are Charge Beam LO Jolteon weak. The only pokemon that can take a thunderbolt on your team is Machamp. If Machamp is weakened, Jolteon can come and sweep your team, and if it gets a charge beam boost, well your in for a whole lot of trouble. To remedy this, I suggest Scarf Rotom-A.

Rotom-A@Choice Scarf
~Thunderbolt
~Overheat
~Shadow Ball
~Trick

I also see you do not have a spin blocker. Spin blockers are crucial if you are using entry hazards. Therefore I recommend Scarf Rotom-A as your spinblocker. The rotom set above not only does it check Lucario, Scizor and Jolteon but it also proves as a spin blocker and it gives something decently fast. I recommend replacing it over Heatran.

Hm, I have trouble understanding why you aren't using Substitute on Machamp. You come in on a Pokemon that can't touch you, like Tyranitar, and set up a Substitute. Now you are able to nail hits on Pokemon without worrying about taking damage. It also helps you abuse Toxic Spikes.

Stone Edge still cripples Mene and Ice Punch is not helping you that muhc, I would still go back to Substitute since it helps your team as a whole

Ok I'll change that then. Also, what about substituting this for foretress:
Gengar @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid, Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
-Shadow ball
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power [Fire]
-Focus Blast
Since I don't get foretress out much, let alone get out spikes and T spikes, I was thinking I should put in a spin-blocker, as well as another sweeper? I don't know still new to this, but I definitly don't want to replace Heatran with a spin blocker...
