My first RU experience. Codename: RU OP?

604.gif

Eelektross (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

Eelektross was the first 'mon I added to this team. She performs her job as a good way to get damage on many things with its decent coverage. It can take a hit or two usually which is enough to KO the opponent or switch with Volt Switch.

106.gif

Hitmonlee @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Mach Punch

This is the newest addition to the team. He's trying to fill the large void left by Sharpedo (and Mega Sharpedo's) tier shift. I personally don't have much experience with him so he's kind of temporary until I find a better Physical Attacker.

465.gif

Tangrowth (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Leech Seed

Tangrowth is a pretty recent addition to my team. She serves well in her position of physical wall, able to take and force Alomomola, who is a pretty big problem for my team, to switch out. I'm a bit concerned with the lack of diversity in her movepool though.

199.gif

Slowking (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off

Where to start with Slowking? She has saved my bacon so many times it isn't even funny! I'm convinced this is one of the best special walls in the tier. With a decent SpA stat too it can deal some damage, especially after a couple of Calm Minds!

146.gif

Moltres @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hurricane
- Flamethrower
- U-turn

Moltres is my go-to option when I need to outspeed something. It can deal good damage with either of its STAB's. I'm thinking about getting rid of Fire Blast, I almost never use it over Flamethrower.

Golurk @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Shadow Punch
- Fire Punch

Golurk's main job other than looking completely awesome is to set rocks and once it is done setting rocks deal some damage. I've been pretty happy with its performance so far. I don't think it needs much improvement, but any comments or criticisms are appreciated!

Overall my main concern is Hitmonlee, I'm not too sure he fits the role of physical attacker for this team. Suggestions, comments, and criticisms are always welcome!

Hi there, N4mespace! Welcome to Smogon!

This is a pretty cool RU team you have here, and I have a few recommendations that should help it perform better in the current RU metagame. The team itself is pretty solid, but there's room for a handful of optimizations here that would help your team better handle notable threats such as Mega Sceptile, Mega Pidgeot, Doublade, Hitmonlee, and Moltres. Eelektross is a pretty sturdy special tank with Assault Vest for a little while, but after it becomes weakened, your current team will have problems with Flying-types. I'll go right into my suggested changes now. :)

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Bold Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Foul Play

My first recommendation is replacing your Tangrowth with Amoonguss. If switching in on Alomomola and forcing it out is one if the things you want to be able to do with this slot, this change will greatly improve that capability. Alomomola can afflict Tangrowth with Toxic on the switch-in, but Amoonguss is immune and will have nothing to lose by switching in. Additionally, Spore is 100% accurate, whereas Sleep Powder is a sometimes disappointing 75% accurate. Clear Smog stops setup sweepers, and even though you can't stop Doublade from setting up with it due to its Steel typing, Foul Play is on the set to make Swords Dance its downfall.

Amoonguss provides the team with not only a much better switch-in to Alomomola, but also a much more reliable check to Mega Sceptile and Doublade. 160 Defense EVs with Bold nature specifically guarantees that Hitmonlee can never 2HKO Amoonguss with Life Orb Reckless High Jump Kick, which is very significant.

slowking.gif

Slowking (F) @ Leftovers -> Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD -> 252 SpA / 8 Spe -> 8 SpD
Calm Nature -> Modest Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock -> Ice Beam
- Calm Mind -> Fire Blast
- Slack Off -> Dragon Tail

I'd like to recommend these changes to Slowking. While a Calm Mind set indeed has its merits, being weak to Knock Off, U-turn, and Volt Switch can be a pain for it. Additionally, since it has Regenerator, it doesn't mind having to come in when it's needed and then switch back out. This set is a lot harder for opponents to play around, especially since it has Dragon Tail to redirect the opponent's switches after they try to improve their matchup, but what's really important about these changes is that it allows Slowking to survive Mega Sceptile's most powerful attack and OHKO back with Ice Beam. With Assault Vest, Slowking is guaranteed to take Mega Sceptile's Leaf Storm and it doesn't even need a Calm nature or heavy investment in Special Defense. Afterward, Slowking easily regains the lost health with Regenerator.

It should be noted that this set typically runs Psyshock in the second slot as a secondary STAB option, but Fire Blast gets a nice hit against Amoonguss and Roselia anyway while also OHKOing Escavalier and Doublade after Stealth Rock damage most of the time. Ice Beam will still 2HKO Dragalge after Stealth Rock damage and Slowking can take its Choice Specs Adaptability Draco Meteor and restore its health with Regenerator if necessary. You miss out on the ability to OHKO Hitmonlee, but the team can wear it down with Amoonguss and Moltres without much trouble if played correctly. What it can do to Mega Sceptile with Ice Beam is more than worth losing Psyshock, and it gets a hard hit against Mega Pidgeot as well, another notable threat that only has a 3.3% chance to 3HKO this set with its Hurricane. Moltres is also easily walled by this set, naturally. A lot of ground is gained by changing Slowking to this Assault Vest variant! :)

If you still want Psyshock, you can put Ice Beam over Dragon Tail instead, but you won't be able to force switches or shuffle the opponent's team through Stealth Rock damage.

rhyperior.gif

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 244 HP / 244 SpD / 22 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Roar

Finally, I'd like to recommend replacing Golurk with specially defensive Rhyperior. Golurk unfortunately isn't all that great in the RU metagame, and its ability to take hits as a Ground-type offensive threat pales in comparison to the almighty Solid Rock Rhyperior. Just as your Golurk is intended to do, Rhyperior sets Stealth Rock and destroys things with Earthquake. However, Rhyperior also handily walls both Mega Pidgeot and Moltres and also isn't weak to Knock Off and takes physical hits in general a lot better than Golurk does. Roar is here on the set mainly to prevent Cresselia from setting up even if it has a Substitute.

Here are a few other minor changes... Hitmonlee's set is almost perfect, but you should run Adamant nature over Jolly unless you specifically want it to outspeed Braviary. It maximizes Hitmonlee's damage output without missing out on outspeeding many relevant things. You might also consider running Knock Off over Thunderbolt on Eelektross for crippling walls like Gligar and Amoonguss that try to switch in to tank its attacks.

This concludes my rate! I hope you found my suggestions helpful and I wish you luck with your team!

Looking at your team the first thing I see is your lack of a mega evolution. While this was pretty much acceptable in XY I feel like in ORAS it is definitely optimal to run one. For this very reason I am suggesting you to try Mega Camerupt in Golurk's spot. It still sets up Stealth Rock but is a better check in general to Electric-types while having a much more useful defensive typing as well as power. To check Fighting-types a little better I then suggest you to use Physically Defensive Slowking over your current one to then become able to tank Knock Off much more easily and still be able to check Choice Scarf Moltres quite well (which is the most common variant around anyway). Also your Tangrowth set is suboptimal and I think Choice Specs Tangrowth would fit your teeeam much better while not being outclassed by Amoonguss at attempting a defensive role. After this I also want to suggest you Knock Off over Thunderbolt on Eelektross which is necessary considering your important Dragalge weakness. You could also think of changing out Hitmonlee to Hitmontop to spin more reliably which is a decent choice to be honest but I can see Hitmonlee work on a team like yours too.

Tangrowth @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Ancient Power

Camerupt @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 12 SpA / 160 SpD / 84 Spe
Calm Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
