Hi, i am new here, and this is my first SS OU team. Pls let me know what you think.
Clefable
- Ability: Magic guard
- Item: Aguav berry (might change to leftovers)
- EVs: 180 HP/148 DEF/180SPD
- Nature: Bold (DEF+, ATK-)
-Moveset
- Reflect
- Endeavor
- Counter
- Seismic Toss
I chose Clefable as a tank for the start as i was originally going to give it "Follow Me" and use it for a double battle team, but then I decided to make a singles team, and apparently it works ok. I might change it to a Hippowdon and give it toxic + recover + other moves, but for now i don't know. Also I decided to give it reflect for general defense that would last after it was knocked out or switched out. I gave it seismic toss for general damage purposes and counter for attacks when possible
Blastoise
- Ability: Torrent
- Item: White Herb
- EVs: 80 HP/80 ATK/80 DEF/160 SPA/80 SPD/28 SPE
- Nature: Mild (SPA+, DEF-)
-Moveset
- Hydro Pump
- Aqua Jet
- Dragon Pulse
- Shell Smash
I chose Blastoise because with shell smash and white herb, it can deal high damage and usually moves first without the standard shell smash drawbacks. Blastoise would serve as my first pokemon to take out some of the other team's pokemon early on. I gave it aqua jet to deal hits if it was absolutely necessary to hit first or if i needed a contact physical move.
Toxapex
- Ability: regenerator
- Item: Leftovers
- EVs: 252 HP/128 DEF/128 SPD
- Nature: Impish (DEF+, -SPA)
-Moveset
-Toxic
-Toxic Spikes
-Protect
-Baneful Bunker
I chose since it is relatively tanky and can use toxic spikes. I wanted a pokemon that could last multiple hits so that it could lay down the spikes multiple times before dying, and toxapex seemed like the ideal pokemon for this job. toxic was added in order to speed up the process of getting rid of the pokemon on the battle field when the spikes were put down. Baneful bunker was added as a protecting move but i will probably remove protect and replace it with something else since baneful bunker is both better and will not likely be used either way.
Shuckle
- Ability: sturdy
- Item: Figy berry (might switch to leftovers)
- EVs: 252 HP/128 DEF/128 SPD
- Nature: impish (DEF+, SPA-)
-Moveset
-Sunny Day
-Substitute
-Iron Defense
-Earthquake
My main reason for implementing this pokemon was as a way to activate sunny day multiple times in a row. This will come into play later as the venusaur below has the ability "Chlorophyll" which gives it double speed when sunny day is active. Additionally, Shuckle works well as a tank for switching in when necessary. It has iron defense and substitute to decrease the chance that it gets knocked out and is no longer able to provide sunny day for venusaur, though that probably won't work as well as possible since shuckle is slow and will be hit before implementing iron defense most likely.
Venusaur
- Ability: Chlorophyll
- Item: leftovers
- EVs: 85 HP/85 DEF/85 SPD/1 SPA/252 SPE
- Nature: timid (SPE+, ATK-)
-Moveset
-Substitute
-Leech Seed
-Giga drain
-Sleep powder
I chose to put venusaur as a way to win battles of attrition and to set up for Kartana. The idea was that using the chlorophyll ability and a generally high speed stat, i would be able to use sleep powder and implement substitute and leech seed while the opponent was still sleeping and taking damage from the toxic spikes from earlier. that way i would be able to regain the health lost from the substitute and still have the substitute in place since the opponent was asleep.
Kartana
- Ability: Beast Boost
- Item: Focus sash
- EVs: 4 HP/252 ATK/252 SPE
- Nature: Adamant (ATK+, SPA-)
-Moveset
-Leaf Blade
-Swords Dance
-Knock Off
-Smart Strike
I chose Kartana as a high damage pokemon in order to hopefully pull off a few one hit KOs to either finish a match or most of the opponent's remaining pokemon and finish with venusaur and shuckle through battles of attrition. I intended for swords dance to be used while the opponent's pokemon is asleep but the focus sash is there in case the opponent wakes up first. Leaf blade and smart strike are there as the main damaging moves as they are stabs which will boost kartana's already high damage output with it's attack stat comboed with swords dance and beast boost multipliers
Conclusion: In my very short time learning how to play this game, i encountered most of these strategies being used in random mode, so if they are kind of bad, that is why. this team is still being edited so i will likely change some aspects.

NOTE: I didn't include IVs because I don't really know how they work so i have them all set at max
