Hey fellow Smogon-ers, This is my first post and Pokemon Y is my first pokemon game that I actually started playing more after the elite four, so I'm new to team building and what not. Please do not mock me on how n00b I am, I already know. But advice is needed, even if it is harsh. I did read the "before posting" thread and tried as closely to follow it as possible. But remember again, this is my first post.
My team - Salamence, Hawlucha, and Meowstic.
Salamence
Moves: Dragon Claw, Crunch, Fly, and Zen Headbutt
Nature: Naughty
IV's: ?
EV's: most EV's were trained in attack and speed
I believe Salemence is my best pokemon on my team. He can OHKO most pokemon he's super effective to, and Zen Headbutt works as a great move with it's flinch ability. The only problem I've had with him is obviously facing ice types, but fairy types as well, both of which OHKO Salmence. Other than dragon and fairy, salamence can usually handle 3 rarely 2 blows before he faints.
Hawlucha
Moves: High Jump Kick(worth the risk), Flying Press, Fly, and Rock Tomb
Nature: Lonely
IV's: ?
EV's: Only in speed and attack
Hawlucha is my favorite pokemon from this gen (based on looks), but he also is an asset to my team. His Flying Press can OHKO those pesky scrafty with STAB and double super effectiveness. Rock Tomb also helps with fire types which my other pokemon can't handle. The High Jump Kick combo with his amazing speed always 2HKO's any non super effective pokemon and even OHKO's those with low defense. His defense and health stats suck though, but I still think he's potentially a good sweeper. But even non super effective attacks can OHKO Hawlucha. ):
Meowstic:
Moves: Thunderbolt, Psychic, Light Screen, and Reflect
Nature: Lonely
IV's: ?
EV's: Half in special attack, with the rest balanced in SpeD, Def, and Spe
Meowstic usually attacks first because of his great base Spe stat. And with his decent special attack he produces a punch. Light Screen and Reflect are great because they help with Hawlucha and Salamense. Without those two moves Meowstic is almost never OHKO'd unless he's hit with a super effective move.
The Verdict:
This is my first team, and I believe it to be pretty decent. i've won probably 75% of the online battles I've done (I've competed with this team 20+ times). My team is very weak against fairy and ice, but also is strong in other points. I apologize again for my n00bness. I hope someone actually responds to this post and helps me out.
