This team started as me taking some cookie cutter pokés in a team, and I've been tweaking it a bit since then. I honestly have no idea what is wrong about this team, but I'm pretty sure some things are, and I don't immediately know how to fix them. So let your righteous fury of criticism go.
Tyranitar @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower
- Protect
-I used to prefer Mega DD Ttar but after reading a bit and seeing a Ttar video on Youtube, I figured out that, apparently, Special Ttar is more common/popular. And after playing with it a bit, I can see why (especially since Ice Beam one-shots a lot of pokés). Ttar is my favourite (competitive) pokémon at the moment, and with how much work this guy does for me, I think I made a great choice. Kills Garchomps with ease, is threatening to approx every pokémon out there, and is pretty scary. That last bit means that I've won more than a few games where I could "easily" predict they were going to attack my Ttar.
Rotom-Heat @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect
I decided to take Heat over Wash, since I felt like I needed a good Fire-type more than a good Water-type. I also made it completely offensive because a) people don't expect it b) I needed another strong Fire-type attack vs Mawile. The rest of the set is pretty obvious. I prefer Thunderbolt over Switch since I need my Rotom to deal a lot of damage. Now that I'm writing this, I'm wondering if I should have it hold a Choice item and take Volt Switch instead of Protect?
Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Protect
Also pretty much copy-pasted this. Is one of my main threats that should be able to cut through most of the opponent's team. I don't really know what to say about this guy. I think anyone interested in VGC '14 pretty much knows about him...
Mienshao @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SDef / 236 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Rock Slide
- Wide Guard
Fake out and Wide Guard let me have a safe turn with some of my pokémon if I predict correctly. Other than that, Mienshao can deal a lot of damage to the right pokémon when I can actually land a High Jump Kick. I don't know if this pokémon is perhaps out of place in my team, but I usually use it to disrupt Trick Room and other teams that want setup (when I can identify them).
Bisharp @ Expert Belt
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Protect
- Night Slash
Revenge killer and another one of my favourite pokémon (too bad they both have a 4* weakness to fighting). I tried to copy-paste from my OU team, but unfortunately it can't get Knock Off, which is a shame. I'm pretty sure both the item and the Night Slash need to be changed, but I have no idea by what. Swords Dance didn't work for me in Doubles.
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 212 SDef / 44 Spd
Careful Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- U-turn
I used to have Manectric, but I was superweak to strong Faeries, so I decided I wanted to try something that could possibly threaten Faeries better. Of course, this did make me weaker to physical attackers, but so far, I've been rather pleased with the bug.
Only started playing and following competitive poké this gen, and very casually, so if there's something I let out, or if you feel my descriptions are pretty bad, well, you're probably right.
