Okay I’m new to online battling sims and had decided to try it out my first idea was a baton pass team after learning about the awesome Quiver Dancing Baton Pass Venomoth. I had been using this team several times and making a few changes here in there (tried Shell Smash passing Gory, Passing Zapdos, Gliscor, and ditching the physical aspect of the passing team all together (Scizor was added to fill the Whole left behind). After loosing my opponent recommended improving my team’s synergy recommending here. I tried posting this earlier but was told it was too simplistic and it was locked so for my second try…
Venomoth (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Quiver Dance
- Baton Pass
- Bug Buzz
One of this teams key Pokemon. First Venomoth can pass Quiver Dance, the greatest boosting move ever conceived by Game Freak. With this move three stats are simultaneously boosted. I normally lead with her due to her reliance on Sash and a Stealth rock weakness where she starts in typical situations by sleep powdering the foe and getting off as many Quiver Dances as possible before passing. Bug Buzz is there to stop me from being taunt bait and to deal with Espeon and Wimscott who show up frequently and would otherwise stop me cold.
*I have liked this guy since gen 1 but never found a reason to use him until now J*
Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 244 HP / 132 Def / 128 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Scald
- Acid Armor
This guy had several reasons for being here. First Vaporeon is immune to water and can pass Subs and Acid Armor to a recipient. Scald is primarily to avoid taunt and coming off Vaporeon’s Special Attack with Quiver Dance Boosts does a fair amount of damage. Scald also has an added effect so that the opponent might want to be careful… Overall one of my best performers.
Mew @ Lum Berry
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Nasty Plot
- Rock Polish
- Taunt
This guy is my back up passer should Venomoth fail. I had several reasons I put him on the team, first off Mew can pass about anything +2 which is good. In addition he has good bulk and resists Psychic which Nidoking despises. (also, and somewhat less relevant, it is cute)
Scizor (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
This guy was added after certain individuals began to cause me problems…( *cough Chansey/Ghost psychic types *. Overall he has had a decent showing helping stop some annoying Pokémon who otherwise give problems. As my pass team is special, and Scizor is a physical threat, I have him Choiced to inflict as much pain as possible.
Overall he is my only counter to special walls (had briefly tried mixed pass and found it awkward)
Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
This guy serves two main roles. first it scares the living daylight out of Skarmory and makes a outstanding Recipient for the boosts I set up(with enough boosts it can even eat Earth Quakes if it’s Balloon breaks). The first three moves provide coverage, the last is a filler that I’ve used only once and will probably be replace once I find a better option. Overall this guy is a life saver and Balloon makes him awesome
Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Earth Power
My main pass recipient basically has great converge making it really hard to wall outside of Blissey and Chancey. This gen gave him an awesome ability allowing him to completely abuse life orb as well as boosting moves at the cost of hax. In addition Nidoking resists MachPunch which seems to be everywhere these days as well as possessing a immunity to the crippling thunderwave that can bring most sweepers to their knees. He has downsides though of course, he happens to be frail, falling to most STAB or Super Effective attacks without boosts. However if he gets out of the chain without being phased, you can expect him to rack up the kills.
Right now this is my team although it defiantly needs changes. Before it was pointed out that I’m terribly weak to phasing. Also people have been mentioning Espeon Please give advice on changes
Espeon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Stored Power
- Hidden Power [Bug]
This is the Espeon I made, let me know if their are any changes because I go destroyed at +6 def my a Garchomp so I'm wondering if I should run Bold.
Also what is a good counter for choice trickers?
Venomoth (F) @ Focus Sash
