My First Team

Introduction

Hi there, and welcome to my first rmt. I have been pokemon competitively for about a month now, and am still learning. I am quite proud of this team, getting a ranking of about 1500. The team has two sweepers on either side of the spectrum and focuses on hitting as hard as possible as fast as possible, with support from entry hazards. Anyways, onto my team.

Deoxys-D @ Mental Herb
Pressure
EVs 252 HP/ 252 Spe/ 4 SpD
Timid Nature
-Spikes
-Stealth Rock
-Taunt
-Thunder Wave (suggested by Dr Ciel and Neliel)

Deoxys-D has one job on my team: get hazards up while keeping hazards of my side. It can take an absurd amount of hits while crippling opposing Sableyes and Deoxys. Mental Herb stops it from becoming complete Taunt bait. Spikes and Stealth Rock are the obligatory entry hazards. EVs and nature allow it to outspeed an unexpected number of things. Thunder Wave can cripple a sweeper that attempts to set up on it. Deoxys-Ds consistency makes it indispensable to my team.

Kyurem-B @ Choice Scarf
Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk/4 HP/252 Spe (suggested by Jirachi)
Jolly Nature
-Outrage
-Fusion Bolt
-Ice Beam
-Hidden Power Fire

How is this not Über? This hits unbelievably hard, it's Outrage being usually enough to OHKO anything that doesn't resist it. Fusion Bolt lets it hit Skarmory and other Steel types. Ice Beam is for coverage, and Hidden Power Fire kills Scizor and Ferrothorn. Choice Scarf lets Kyurem outspeed everything except Scarfed things like Terrakion. One half of my physical Dragon duo.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Levitate
EVs 252 SpA/ 252 Spe/ 4 Def
Timid Nature
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Thunder
-Substitute

This thing is realy good, thanks Jirachi. It hits fast and hard, and stops the opponent spinning away my hazards. It can beat most spinners one on one, and punishes rain teams with a strong Thunder. If it gets a Substitute in, it can be a real menace to take down, and its Shadow Ball can destroy other Ghosts and Psychics. Life Orb only increases its damage output, and it isnt bothered by the recoil since when it dies it is almost always OHKOd anyway.

Landorus @ Life Orb
Sheer Force
EVs 252 SpA/ 252 Spe/ 4 HP
Modest Nature
-Earth Power
-Focus Blast
-Rock Polish
-Hidden Power Ice

My premier special sweeper, Landorus can obliterate whole teams after one Rock Polish. Nobody wants to take a Sheer Force and Life Orb boosted Earth Power with no recoil to the face. It's only real flaw is its reliance on Focus Miss for coverage, as it seems to miss more than it hits. Hidden Power Ice hits Lati@s and opposing Landorus hard. The only thing that can stop it after a Rock Polish is Mamoswine's Ice Shard, and my other pokemon deal with that fine. This is one hell of a sweeper and when played well can destroy anything.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Technician
EVs 252 Atk/ 248 HP/ 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
-Bullet Punch
-U-Turn
-Pursuit
-Superpower

Everyone knows what Scizor does. Never staying in for very long, Scizor hits hard and keeps offensive momentum. It's amazing typing means it can take most attacks and hit hard back. It is a great revenge killer and can take out pokemon that would otherwise interfere with my two sweepers. Pursuit can trap Lati@s and Gengar, with Superpower destroying Tyranitar and Heatran. EVs are the standard set.

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Multiscale
EVs 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 Def
Adamant Nature
-Outrage
-ExtremeSpeed
-Fire Punch
-Dragon Dance

As suggested by Jirachi and Neliel. If this gets a Dragon Dance off, it becomes almost impossible to stop. It only fears scarfed Dragons and Ice Shards, and with Multiscale and Gengar, it is easy to survive Ice attacks. With ExtremeSpeeds boosted priority, it can get the jump on Mamoswine and Donphan, two common switch-ins. After a Dragon Dance it becomes extremely strong and has unresisted coverage in OU. Forms the second part of my physical Dragon sweeper duo.

I hope you enjoy rating my team. I know it can improve, as can I as a battler.

Hello.

This is a very nice team you have here, making great use of common threats such as Rock Polish Landorus and Choice Scarfed Kyurem-B, so probs on that. Anyways, I see some flaws that this team has, so hopefully my rate can iron out those flaws. With that said, let's get to the rate, shall we? First up, I would like to suggest using Thunder Wave over Toxic on Deoxys-D. Thunder Wave helps cripple your opponents Pokemon, in order to make Landorus' sweeping jobs much easier. Moving forward, I suggest you change your Ferrothorn spread to one of 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD and a Relaxed Nature over your current EV spread and Nature. The aftermentioned EV spread is a Specially Defensive spread with some emphasis on Defense, as it helps Ferrothorn fare better against the more common threats in today's metagame, such as Landorus, Haxorus, Gyarados, and variants of Scizor. Staying on Ferrothorn, I would like to recommend using Gyro Ball over your current choice of Stealth Rock. Since Heatran is your SRer, Gyro Ball is an optimal choice here, as it helps you with most Dragon types and most notably, Gengar. Finally, I would like to suggest changing your Heatrans EV spread to one of 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe and a Calm Nature over your current EV spread and Nature choices. Heatrans base 106 defenses and high HP, makes it an excellent choice for a Special Defensive wall. Staying on Heatran, I would like to recommend using Lava Plume and Toxic over Fire Blast and Earth Power, respectively. Lava Plume's 30% burn rate is very beneficial, as it helps Heatran shrug off physical attacks much easier, while Toxic absolutely cripples your opponents Pokemon, once again, making Landorus' job easier. Well, that's all I have to say for now. I hope my advice helped. Have fun and good luck in your future endeavours!

Hi

The main problem with your team is that you're trying to run defensive Pokemon on an offensive team. Deoxys-D is meant to set up SR + Spikes and then just let 5 offensive Pokemon 2HKO everything on the opponent's team which will be an easy prey with all the hazards. Ferrothorn is really a bad choice for that, since it offers almost no offensive pressure and will let the opponent switch to pretty much everything it wants without getting really hurt, or will let it set up which is usually very bad news for offensive teams like yours. One thing that your team lacks is a way to stop Rapid Spinners from spinning your hazards away. They can just come in early and use blow your hazards, ruining Deoxys-D's efforts and ruining your sweep. I recommend swapping Ferrothorn for a Gengar. Gengar is a Ghost type, meaning it's immune to Rapid Spin, so the opponent's Spinner won't be able to spin yet. Given the offensive nature of your team, the best set to run would probably be a Life Orb + 3 Attacks version with Thunder, since it allows Gengar to hit Tentacruel hard in the rain (where Tentacruel is used.)

You can probably also get rid of Heatran. Heatran is slow and will probably lose all the momentum by letting free switches to things like Terrakion and Keldeo that you really don't wanna let in, as from there, you will have two options, let Heatran die or lose all the momentum by having to switch out. Both are not very good options, especially considering the popularity of Terrakion and Keldeo. If you're looking for a Pokemon that can counter sun teams, why not use Dragonite? Dragonite makes a fantastic pair with Deoxys-D, since it takes advantage of its hazards and Deoxys-D makes a decent job preventing opposing hazards, meaning that Multiscale can remain intact. Dragonite is perfect for offensive teams like yours and is a great way to beat Sun teams.

I don't get what you are trying to achieve when using that spread on Kyurem-B. If you're using it as a revenge killer, might as well make it as fast as possible so you can outspeed a maximum number of threats, and also use as much Attack as you can so you can hit stuff hard. Kyurem-B doesn't really make great use of the Special Defense investment since most of the time you won't be switching it into things, and it already has great bulk anyway. Just use a spread of 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly, which makes best use of Kyurem-B's stats and revenge killing abilities.

Here are the sets you should use:

Gengar @ Life Orb

Yo there,

I see some mistakes in your team. First, you dont need 3 stealth rock users and you dont need two spikes users. Thats just a waste. The other problem i see is that some of your pokemon have bad sets or just doesnt fit in this team.

Lets start from the beginning. Your deo-d appreciates more thunder wave rather than toxic for a couple of reason. While toxic needs a lot of turns to kill something, thunder wave needs one turn to stop things that tries to setup on you and this would help you because a lot of things tend to setup sword dance/dragon dance against it.

For Heatran, since you should not use sr, you can try hidden power ice since its a good coverage move that hit flying types and dragons. You may want to try Timid nature since his sp atk is already high and timid nature lets you outspeed something like Dragonite.

Now, i think that ferrothorn should be replaced with some offensive pokemon, because its role is basically already did by deo-d which is setup sr and spikes, and ferrothorn really slows your team with his poor offensive presence.
You can try instead of it a dragon dance dragonite. Dragonite would still be good at checking rain teams being able to take both the main stab of keldeo. The set you should try is Outrage / Fire punch / Extremespeed / Dragon dance with a lum berry and a spread 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe with an adamant nature. Dragonite its good because it has an high offensive presence and nice chance to setup a DD thanks to Multiscale.

Thats it i guess. Gl.
