I'm very new to this, so I'm really just looking for thoughts and comments. Any help is appreciated. I'm willing to change anything and learn if necassary. I've not been very successful so far.
Jolteon @ Life Orb
Trait: Quick Feet
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Jolteon is my usual lead, using Volt Switch to do some damage and switch out, unless my opponent uses a ground team - which I seem to have trouble against. I don't seem to be using Signal Beam often so maybe I could do with a better move here but I'm not 100% up to scratch with the type strengths/weaknesses so once I learn those I may find I use it more. Obviously I chose speed and special attack to maximise damage, quickly, but that does leave this Jolteon weak to anything that hits it.
Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Sacred Sword
Easily my favourite/most used team member, pretty standard setup that doesn't really need changing. Not sure if I need both close combat and sacred sword, but his stab is just so good, it seems silly not to - not to mention I didn't really know what other moves to give it.
Gengar @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Disable
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
This guy is pretty awesome. I haven't quite got the hang of using the sub-disable, but subbing and using shadow ball/focus blast has really helped me out in some of my first few battles. I'm not sure if black sludge is the best item for it though - but that's what the database here suggested.
Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Superpower
Changed Cloyster for Mamoswine as suggested, although I realised with Terakkion and now Mamoswine, I'm a bit too over-aggressive when it comes to fire and I might be lacking in other areas. At least now I have a solid counter for those dragons.
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Def / 24 Spd
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind
Changed from Metagross as suggested. Quite happy with this, as although I'm yet to try it out, a physical wall was definitely something I lacked before. I'll try him out tomorrow and update with what I find.
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
Really have found this to be pretty useless in my first 5 or so battles. Good for sacrificing, and aromatherapy has come in handy once - but other than that it seems like a waste of time. I know stalling is part of the game, but I get bored of it really fast and Blissey has such low Def that anything physical seems to take her out of the game really quickly.
