My First Team

I just finished creating my first team so I could do with some criticisms etc. to help me improve it. It's supposed to be an all-out offensive orientated team - I do understand that the strategy might be somewhat limited but I was curious as to whether it could work or not.

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Adamant / Pressure
252 Atk 252 Spd 4HP
~Stone Edge
~Earthquake
~Thunder Fang
~Stealth Rock

Aerodactyl leads and either sets up stealth rock or KOs/severely dents something with either stone edge or EQ. Thunder fang is to make water types think twice about switching in and maybe some cheap paralysis/flinching.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Timid / Levitate
252 SpAtk 252 Spd 4 HP
~Shadow Ball
~Thunderbolt
~Focus Blast
~Protect

Gengar should hopefully switch into one of his immunities and pretty much anything for at least neutral damage. Protect lets me scout for pursuit users and focus blast covers the dark type weakness, despite it's poor accuracy.

Infernape @ ?
Rash / Blaze
64 Atk 252 SpAtk 192 Spd
~Close Combat
~Flamethrower
~Grass Knot
~Mach Punch

This is basically the nasty plot set, minus nasty plot at the minute. I might change to nasty plot, but mach punch can be effective in countering salac/reversal users.

Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Modest / Natural Cure
252 SpAtk 252 Spd 4HP
~Surf
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Psychic

I've gone for what I think is a fairly normal special attacking starmie. Boltbeam for decent coverage, and surf and psychic for STAB. I know psychic might not be the best option but it helps against fighting types that might threaten porygon-z. Natural cure should help absorbing status, too.

Porygon-Z @ Wise Glasses/Expert Belt?
Modest / Download
252 SpAtk 252 Spd 4HP
~Charge Beam
~Ice Beam
~Dark Pulse
~Tri-Attack

The idea with porygon-z is to bring him in late game against something already weakened or that will switch out. This allows porygon to hopefully get 2 SpAtk boosts (with download and charge beam), making him a powerful sweeper with decent coverage. Dark pulse lets me hit ghosts for super-effective, though I'm left walled by steels.

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Jolly / Sand Veil
252 Atk 252 Spd 4 HP
~Earthquake
~Dragon Claw/Outrage
~Swords Dance
~Fire Fang

This is my kind of last resort/cleaner but could potentially come in at any point and threaten. EQ and dragon claw/outrage provide dual STAB, while fire fang offers a way to hit ice types. Swords dance at any opportunity and attempt to sweep.

And there it is :) I'd welcome any constructive criticisms/advice. Also in general, I'd rather change things like moves/items around than the actual pokemon, unless I've made some disastrous mistakes XD

Edit: I realise now Garchomp is banned lol but let's include him anyway for the moment, hypothetically. Starmie now has choice scarf to hopefully outrun more without sacrificing modest's power boost.

So, thoughts?

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash, so you can survive a hit.

Choice Specs + Protect is a no-go, so I recommend Gengar @ Life Orb.

Garchomp is banned in OU, but the set you're running looks great. Can we see some EVs on that thing?

Starmie needs Timid, or you're fodder to Azelf, Raikou, Latias, Gengar, Ambipom, etc.

Garchomp is Uber therefore you cannot use it, sorry. I would consider switching it for a NEw MixMence or a DD Mence.

If you use salemance I'd reccomend using rapid spin on starmie. Salemance won't love you for 25% sr damage. However over salamence I'd use cb scizor for bullet punch priority

You could sure change a lot on your team

1) Replace Aerodactly's nature with Jolly instead of adamant, as this allows you to outspeed some leads which could otherwise KO you.

2) Replace Aero's Thunderfang with Taunt, so you can stop opposing leads from setting up rocks and other status moves.

3) Replace Gengar's focus blast with hidden power fire. This allows you to KO scizor if you scout it using pursuit. Focus blast's accuracy isn't great, and the dark type weakness is covered by infernape anyway.

4) Give infernape a life orb. Or an expert belt to bluff a choice item, whatever you perfer doing.

5) Replace psychic on starmie with trick, as this allows you to cripple walls. On second thought, replace choice scarf with lefties and go with the bulky rapid spin starmie, as entry hazards will no longer harm you with rapid spin used.

6) Porygon-z has no use on this team. I would recommend replacing him with a ghost type, who blocks explosion, fake out, rapid spin, and other moves that could be annoying for aero. Rotom-H or Rotom-C is perfect, i recommend giving it the trick scarf set with either overheat or leaf storm, that is, if you replaced starmie with the bulky spinner. If you didn't replace starmie, then go with the rest talker, as this could be your status absorber and good counter to annoying pokes like breloom.

7) Replace garchomp with a standard SD lucario set, as lucario packs a priority move with either extremespeed or bullet punch, with a powerful 120 base stab move in the form of close combat, and could counter other threats with stone edge, crunch, or ice punch.

Follow these steps and your team will do much better.

I'd advise you read the rules, make sure the team is allowed for competitive play before posting. Also, test your team out before posting, that generally helps you catch a lot of errors opposed to just posting and hoping for a miracle. Add more detail in your descriptions too, that helps raters out a lot if they know why the pokemon is there, and what it does etc. Feel free to post an updated version, however make sure that it follows the rules. Thanks have a good one.
