My First Team!

Well I've been playing pokemon for a while and just decided to get into the competitive scene. I would like to start off by saying I apreciate any help or criticisms anyone has. Thanks and here it goes....

Salamence@Life Orb
Adament 232 Att/252 Spe/24 Sp Att
Earthquake
Outrage
Dragon Dance
Fire Blast

I decided to start off my team with one of my favorite pokemon of all time and arguably one of the best sweepers in the game. But, he does have difficulty against many steel types so I decided to bring in.....

Magnezone@Choice Scarf
Timid 252 Sp Att/252 Spe/4 HP
Thunderbolt
HP Fire
Flash Cannnon
Explosion

Great companion to Salamence as he easily picks off any steel types that get in salamence's way and together they resist every type on the game which is pretty dang awesome. Now, I decided I needed a good lead to prevent stealth rocks and hopefully bring in his own so I went with.....

Aerodactyl@Focus Sash
Jolly 252 Att/252 Spe/4 HP
Stealth Rock
Taunt
Earthquake
Rock Slide/Stone Edge

This is, in my opinion, the most effective lead to prevent other pokmon from setting up stealth rock while simultaneously being able to get up rocks of my own. The only real problem I can think of is Mamoswine who can either smash me with ice shard then proceed to set up rocks on me. The next pick I decided made a great partner to Magnezone and could help from getting my rocks spun away.

Gengar@Life Orb
Timid 252 Sp Att/252 Spe/ 4 HP
Substitue
HP Fire
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast

THis thing can come in on anything that tries to rapid spin, substitute on the switch then destroy whatever comes up with the great coverage that Fighting/Ghost provides. Also, he can come in on fighting/ground attacks aimed at magnezone and likely outspeed and KO whatever is out. So, at this point I look at my team and think that I have a weakness to common sweepers such as tyranitar, salamence, and gyarados and this problem needed to be addressed.

Weavile@Choice Band
Jolly 252 Att/216 Spe/40 HP
Low Kick
Ice Shard
Pursuit
Night Slash

This thing is an absolute force and completely dominates the tyranitars and salamences that might have given my team problems. Easily the best revenge killer on the game and ruins any potential Salamence sweep in a hurry. But, I still have a glaring weakness to Gyarados and no means of recovery so I decided to give this little guy a shot.

Vaporeon@Leftovers
Bold 188 HP/252 Def/68 Spe
Wish
Protect
Toxic
Surf

This little pup can come in on a set up gyarados, resist his main attacks, then stall it out with the toxic/wish/protect stradegy. Also, it covers another weakness to my team in the form of heatran, who I believe Vaporeon walls quite effectively.

Well there you have it, there is my team. Feel free to critique it and make any changes that you guys think are neccasary. Thanks!

Ya but vaporeon is my only means of recovery and I think having two scizor counters(magnezone and vaporeon) plus gengar if I can set up a sub on the switch is more than enough.

It'd be a great idea to switch Aerodactyl with Salamence, as Salamence really likes SR up so he can get the OHKO's and 2HKO's he needs so he won't end up getting killed. Also, Weavile doesn't kill all Tyranitar, as ScarfTar sometimes have Superpower, and Superpower will OHKO Weavile and you won't have a revenge killer. I'd suggest that a Choice Band Scizor be replaced for Weavile, as Scizor is much better dealing with Tyrantiar and can deal with Salamence also. Another thing you have trouble with is DD Tyranitar, yet uncommon, can rip apart your team with 1-2 DD on his belt (Salamence gets killed by Stone Edge, Magnezone by Fire Punch, Aerodactyl by Stone edge, Weavile by fire punch, Gengar by crunch, and Vaporeon because Tyranitar gets a boost in SpDe because of sanstorm and then Vaporeon can't do enough damage with surf, which would eventually lead to Vaporeon's death...) this is another reason why Choice Band Scizor is much more effective than Choice Band Weavile, so Scizor could come in and BP Tyranitar to death, or at least make Tyranitar switch out so Tyranitar loses its DD it already setup with. Hope I helped!

Like SatiSuicune pointed out switch Aero's place with Salamence. Also I would suggest that you switch your weavile for a more effective pursuit trapper, namely Tyranitar because he is simply more effective in todays metagame and he doesn't take alot of damage on rocks.

Ok thanks for all the great suggestions guys i'll keep them in mind but just one questions first. Are you saying that I should switch salamence's position on my team with aerodactyl's because aerodactyl is my lead I just started with salamence on top because that is how I built my team. Thanks again guys!

Dragon Claw offers more versatility and less opportunities to be switched into and set up upon.

Magnezone@Choice Scarf
Timid 252 Sp Att/252 Spe/4 HP

HP Ice
Flash Cannnon- Lol moments right here. Signal Beam

Azelf over Aerodactyl my comments made in bold and underline thats all i have as of now.

Ok I was thinking about switching my aerodactyl to an azelf with these stats...

Azelf@choice scarf
jolly 252 att/252 spe/4 hp
zen headbutt
explosion
stealth rock
trick

I think this set works better than the focus sash/taunt set because most leads can't ohko and I can cripple many leads with trick. What do you guys think?
