This is the first team that i've actually thought about in OU. Apart from the odd experiment I've spent most of my time in UU developing UUsandstorm teams, stall teams, etc. While I have a fair understanding of UU, I have less knowledge of OU, and so would like some advice on my team. It's meant to be a balanced team that can take on both stall and offensive teams, countering some of the most offensive threats around.
Anyway, enough waffle. Lets show you the team.
Jirachi-Choice Scarf
Serene Grace
80 HP, 252 Att, 176 Speed
Iron Head
Trick
U turn
Stealth rock
This is my lead, the idea being that he can either mess up opposing leads like brongzong, beat weaker leads like dactyl and weavile, or come in later and trick onto blissey. Acts as a scout as well, and has good synergy with Gyrados. Speaking of which...
Gyrados - leftovers
Adamant
Intimidate
HP 156, Att 108, Def 100, Speed 144
Waterfall
Stone edge
DD
Taunt
Tauntrados. He sponges the fire/ground attacks that threaten the team, and sets up on the likes of Blissey and Brongzong. Everything that needs to be said about this beast already has been. This is the main offensive threat.
Gallade- Life Orb
Steadfast
Jolly
HP 4, Att 252, Speed 252
Close Combat
Night slash
Ice Punch
Swords dance
Supposed to take on the likes of Blissey and the bulky ghosts that inevitably switch in, as well as Tyranitar to an extent. Ice punch for dragons and Gliscor. I wanted him in the side because in UU a lot of teams have pokemon with Fake out, and I wanted to try a pokemon that could take advantage of that. However there are probably less Ambipoms and Hitmontops in OU, so how useful his ability is I don't know.
Still he is powerful, but is affected by his average speed. To allow him to sweep I added a choice scarfer, as Jirachi might lose his scarf as he shuts a wall down. Magnezone is supposed to be a good one, so I chose him.
Magnezone- Choice Scarf
Naive
Magnet Pull
HP 4, SAtt 252, Speed 252
Thunderbolt
HP Ice
Flash Cannon
Explosion
Clears the way of faster pokemon that threaten Gallade sweeps, and can take on steel types like scizor and either remove them or damage them immensly. HP ice over HP fire because thunderbolt does more to steels anyway (unless your name is scizor) ,and can then threaten the dragons with OHKO's. Flash cannon for Tyranitar, and explosion just because.
Porygon 2- Leftovers
Trace
Bold
HP 252, Def 216, SAtt 40
Tbold
IBeam
Twave
Recover
One of my faviroute pokemon (tied for top place with shuckle), this is for all those Gyrados, Salamance (minus BB), Heatran, Vappy and so on that are running around, all are ruined when their ability is copied. Twave helps Gallade with his speed issue and porygon 2 can come in on Shadow balls aimed at him.
Gliscor- Leftovers
Sandstream
Impish
HP 252, Def 40, Speed 216
Equake
Stone edge
Knock off
roost
This is where I am conflicted. I took an age deciding which pokemon to add to my team and eventually decided on Gliscor. My team have a problem with ground and fighting once Gyrados is gone so Gliscor helps there, but does nothing to help with the fire weakness. In the end I decided that the ability to counter tyranitar, outspeed lucario and absorb fighting attacks was worth having him in the team, but I am open to any suggestions for alternative options.
