Edited lol <3
Hello! This is my first time using the forums and for a while I have wanted to share my first competitive team. So here I am...sharing it. Moving on.
I have noticed that trick room is very underrated by many, and lots of people don't even know what it does so they don't try and combat it right (i.e. they try to throw out a greninja under trick room to take out a member of my team lol). Note that I designed them to work together in pairs most of the time, but almost every member of the team can do well with another. So here we go!
Meerp (Slowbro) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 244 HP / 156 SAtk / 108 SDef
Quiet Nature
- Trick Room
- Scald
- Protect
- Psyshock
This guy (or girl) along with scrafty is my lead. She relies on her bulk to set up trick room. As far as I can remember she has NEVER been OHKOed except maybe once. Under trick room slowbro is an underrated threat, breaking through specially defensive Pokemon with STAB psyshock and spreading burn like wildfire with STAB scald (if that was a joke of any kind I did not intend that). I'll explain why protect is there later.
Swagpants (Scrafty) (M) @ Chople Berry
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 240 HP / 224 Atk / 44 Def
Brave Nature
- Knock Off
- Fake Out
- Drain Punch
- Poison Jab
Scrafty. Who doesn't enjoy using him? Well let's get to the explaining. STAB knock off really needs no explanation. Fake out helps slowbro set up trick room. What I do is send them out, and slowbro uses protect if both the Pokemon are a threat to her. If one is, scrafty fake outs it. If none are or if slowbro uses protect, scrafty fakes out the largest threat to him. Drain punch STAB and recovery since he has no incredibly good bulk (spamming blissey with it is so fun XD). Poison jab may seem weird but it gets moderate coverage by taking care of grass types and annoying fairies. I'd like to replace this, but can't find anything else decent to use. The assault vest is for him to take special hits better of course lol.
Scissors (Gallade) (M) @ Scope Lens
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Brave Nature
- Trick Room
- Close Combat
- Night Slash
- Psycho Cut
This guy is just such a beast. He is magnezone's partner and is probably the hardest hitter on my team. Trick room is there in case it wears off. STAB close combat doesn't really need an explanation. Night slash is for crits with the scope lens and picking off ghost types and other psychic types. Psycho cut is his main move, STAB and with a high crit chance with the scope lens.
The Zone (Magnezone) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flash Cannon
- Protect
This guy is mostly for coverage for gallade, lol. It was hard to find a Pokemon that could take care of flying and fairy types other than the fabulous magnezone. Thunderbolt is for STAB and is just a good move. Hidden power ice is for coverage against ground types since he can't take a ground hit after his balloon pops. It's often a great surprise to many dragon-flying and dragon-ground types. Flash cannon is a moderately good move nowadays, but fairy types are everywhere. Protect lets him evade mostly fighting attacks.
Derpking (Slowking) (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Quiet Nature
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Surf
- Fire Blast
Ah, slowking, my aggron's partner. I was trying hard to find a Pokemon with trick room and enough coverage for aggron that wasn't another of slowpoke's fabulous evolutions, but alas, none could cover like slowking. Trick room is an obvious choice, yknow, since this is a trick room team...whatever I just said there aside. Psychic is a given STAB. STAB surf is there instead of scald for power. Fire blast is for coverage. He can also learn flamethrower but lots of powerful grass types are also freaking tanks. The sitrus berry is helpful just so he can stay in a bit longer. Oblivous is to prevent taunt, mostly, because it still happens late battle.
Tiny (Aggron) (F) @ Aggronite
Ability: Filter
EVs: 170 HP / 170 Def / 170 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Protect
Aggron, one of the biggest stars of my team. She is AMAZING under trick room. Just amazing. I put my own EV spread because I couldn't decide whether or not to increase one and deplete another. But I find that the EVs I gave make her a much better tank. Stone edge was originally thunder wave, but I never found myself using it. Stone edge is just...good lol. Earthquake is also well, just good in doubles. Iron head is his STAB and crushes fairies. I switched it once for heavy slam but it wasn't as reliable and the flinch chance of iron head has saved my team countless times. Protect prevents aggron from being hit by slowking's surf.
So that's it. Let me know what you think.
