Hi everyone,
I'm bringing to you my first attempt at building an Hyper Offense team.
With this team i reached [EDIT:1325 1409] in the ladder and i would like to improve both my teambuilding skills and my plays, so although this thread is configured as a RMT i would also like some suggestions on how to play Hyper Offense in general... both from your experience and - if you can- by providing a good guide or a video that can explain the argument.
So... this is the team.
Azelf @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 128 HP / 152 Def / 228 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunder Wave
Role: This is my standard suicide lead whose primary objective is to setup Screens and Stealth Rocks.
I also put T-Wave in the move pool so if the opponent try to set-up one of his sweepers i can cripple it so i can deal with that threat easily.
About its Evs i choose the maximum possible investment in Speed (with a favorable nature) and i coupled that with a little bit of investment in HP and Def to reduce the chances for a Knock Off OHKO by Weavile (31,7 % chance to OHKO if i recall correctly).
Although Azelf is to be intended as a suicide lead i noticed some possible use in the late-game to cripple any remaining opponent's sweepers, so sometimes i save it.
Lopunny @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Return
- Fake Out
- Ice Punch
Role: This is my primary sweeper and the "core" of the team. Not so much to say about it, standard configuration... i choose Ice Punch instead of Power-up Punch for coverage reasons (to kill common leads like SR Garchomp).
I also use the frustrating (for the opponent) tactic of sacking (or switch to another Pokemon) and then come back with Mega-Lopunny to inflict some more chip damage on the opposing threat.
Needless to say that this tactic won me some games that otherwise would be lost.
Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Roost
Role: This is my second physical sweeper (a set-up one) that clutch me some games thanks to the combination of its sheer power and its priority in "Brave Bird"... even when unboosted.
Sometimes i find good Setup Fodders for the good old Talon but i noticed a certain difficulty in using him reliably... this difficulty is ascribable to the presence of SR (a really great problem since i don't have a defogger or a rapid spinner in my team) and its lower bulk.
Serperior @ Life Orb
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Giga Drain
Role: One of the two Special Set-up Sweepers of my team. It's indeed the most troublesome to use.
I found that it can only reliably switch into Rotom-Wash... and not always it can connect a Leaf Storm.
I also found that its speed is far from outstanding so many times i got obliterated by opposing threats without even having the opportunity to do a little bit of damage and although i really like this pokemon i'm seriously thinking of swapping it with another sweeper.
Oh... it's also walled pretty well by Tangrowth which is very commonly found in my matches.
Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
Role: This is my second Special Set-up Sweeper and oh man! this thing is a beast.
It hits very hard even when unboosted, it has a pretty good coverage and thanks to its Prankster ability it can reliably set-up and sweep.
I often lead with him (or switch into it) when i see Klefki in the opposing team, just because Klefki usually likes to T-Wave and because of its immunity i have a free turn to set-up.
My most prolific sweeper at this time.
Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge
Role: It's my Revenge Killer. Thanks to E-Speed and its Adamant Nature coupled with the Choice Band it can easily finish a weakened opponent, i also use it coupled with the Fake Out strategy of Mega-Lopunny.
So this is the team.
I would like to know your opinions of it and your suggestions.
I feel like Serperior is the weakest so i wouldn't mind swapping it with another pokemon.
But, because i'm still a beginner i'll welcome any changes that you guys find relevant.
Anyway... if you can "Pimp my Squad" (#ggitsemvee) without distrupting it too much it would be appreciated.
One last thing... I would also like - as i said in the beginning - some tips on how to effectively use an HO team.
Let me know.
Thanks in advance.
