Some context: I've been battling on and for about a year now, and the last two weeks I've been having a ton of fun with the Ubers ladder! I'm finding it's a fast and fluid metagame with a strong set of offensive threats and defensive checks, and I've been performing pretty well on the ladder compared to others. This is the first Tera metagame I've really enjoyed!
Without further ado, I give you: My first Balance Team in Ubers (advice/criticism is greatly appreciated)!
Big Man (Ho-Oh) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Brave Bird
- Whirlwind
- Recover
I have no idea how this tier would stay together if this got Dexited. Checks basically everything (even itself) after the Miraidon ban, Sun is the best weather and Sacred Fire gets more and more dangerous to switch into as the battle goes on. Also one of my personal favorites (love you Joey ).
Big Beastie (Necrozma-Dusk-Mane) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Prism Armor
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Photon Geyser
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Morning Sun
As someone who missed out on USUM, I had no idea that this thing existed and that it was a Psychic type that could seriously take hits. This thing will live basically anything, heal off the damage, then Knock whatever is coming in. Ironically lures in Ho-Oh and then SR becomes a permanent problem for it.
I tried running bulky DD at first but I found you need a much more aggressive team to support it. I went with 3 attacks + Morning Sun because I prefer to use Bliss as my Rocker, which I will explain when get to it.
Big Bike (Koraidon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Orichalcum Pulse
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Low Kick
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
The ultimate pivot. So much fun to lead, creates chaos as it forces a switch and chips something for 10% with U-Turn. Absolutely exploitable, but becomes insanely dangerous in the mid-game and it starts picking off chipped checks.
Big A (Arceus-Fairy) @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Iron Defense
- Judgment
- Recover
Insane late-game threat, hope this is obvious. I keep this thing in the back as long as I thing I can get away with, remove/scout/chip everything else, and then bring it in when I think nothing can take it on.
(PS I fucking adore this archetype of sweeper. Just one more reason I love this metagame.)
Big G (Giratina-Origin) @ Griseous Core
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hex
- Draco Meteor
- Will-O-Wisp
- Defog
Standard utility set, but so potent. With Tera you make it an even bigger tank and you can usually use the resisted hit you gain to get a Wisp off in a dire situation. Without Tera you still have amazing defensive synergy with Bliss, who will eat everything this thing doesn't like for breakfast.
Big Bliss (Blissey) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
Reason I love Rocker Bliss w/ G-O: You can pick and choose when you Defog and when you rock. Most of the time after you Defog w/ Gira, you can immediately go back into Bliss and get your rocks back up unless your opponent is seriously committed to winning the hazard battle. Also any G-O you're facing will be handicapped by this thing coming in on it unless it's Dragon Tail (which, in my opinion, is ass).
That's my team! Again, let me know what kind if improvements you might make and if I said anything uninformed.
