Hey, I just started actual metagaming and just downloaded Shoddy battle, so I’m kinda nooby. If you have some suggestions, please go into detail as I want to learn as much as possible.
This is a sunny day-themed UU team, and if you guys have anything to add or change, please speak up.
Thanks!
Here is a really necessary question: Does Heat Rock extend sunny day only if the holder was the one who set it up? Or can any poke hold it in the team?
MrSunshine (Solrock) @ Focus Band OR Heat Rock
Impish Nature (+Defense/-Special Attack)
Levitate
-252 Hp -48 Attack -208 Defense
-Sunny Day
-Explosion
-Stealth Rock
-(Move needed here)
Obviously, Solrock is mainly here to set up the sunny day, which is the point of this entire team. Also, he is just perfect for the sunny day theme: The sun sets up a sunny day :D! All I really want to do with him is sunny day, and maybe if I’m lucky, set up an SR. And if luck is really on my side, get rid of the MrSunshine’s deadweight once his sunnyrocking work is done with a big ol’ explosion. I’m not sure what to put for the last move, so please, gimme some suggestions. I was thinking an actual attack move like EQ or Stone Edge, but I doubt I’ll have enough time for either.
BananaFone (Tropius) @ Wise Glasses OR Heat Rock
Modest Nature (+Special Attack/-Attack)
Solar Power
-252 SpA -106 SpD -152 Spe
-Solarbeam
-Air Slash
-Hidden Power Fire
-Synthesis
As one can see, this Tropius will get a huge benefit from the sunny day. I chose Solar Power over Chlorophyll mainly because almost all grass-types pack Chloro, and I wanted to try something new—Wise Glasses + Solar Power SpA boost + STAB Solarbeam = a LOT of damage. To make up for Tropius’ rather poor defenses, a 100% HP recovery move will hopefully give some opponents a sad face.
Again, I haven’t tested this set in battle yet, so please make some suggestions about BananaFone, seeing as I want him as my main sweeper/attacker.
St. Helen (Camerupt) @ Choice Band
Brave Nature (+Attack/-Speed)
Solid Rock
-6 Hp -252 Attack -252 SpA
-Earthquake
-Overheat
-Stone Edge
-Explosion
Directly taken from the Smogon strategy dex, this guy doesn’t benefit from sunny day as much as the others do, but he is still a force to be reckoned with. Those two STAB moves will surely put a dent in many pokes, and an explosion backed by 328 Attack is nothing to sneeze at.
Pinocchio (Shiftry) @ Life Orb OR Heat Rock
Modest Nature (+Special Attack/-Attack)
Chlorophyll
-6Hp -252 Special Attack -252 Speed
-Nasty Plot
-Dark Pulse
-Energy Ball/Solarbeam/Grass Knot
-Hidden Power Ice
“Uber Sweeper” from Smogon strategy dex. They suggested Grass Knot, but there aren’t that many really heavy guys in UU, so Energy ball is there instead. I’m not sure how long Sunny Day will last, so Solarbeam is there if you guys think it will work. Switch into a poke weak against Grass/Dark, Nasty Plot on the switch, and sweep away (assuming all goes well :P).
Infertoise (Torkoal) @ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature (+Defense/-Speed)
White Smoke
-252 Hp -252 Defense -6 SpA
-Rapid Spin
-Lava Plume
-Toxic
-Explosion (Any suggestions for different 4th slot?)
Also Smongon-inspired. Rapid Spin away any junk on the field, Lava Plume
threatens a burn, Toxic used for special-based pokes, and Explosion to end it all :P… Not much else to say. I’m open to replacing this guy, btw. He’s filler-like, and I’m thinking that I’ll have too many fire-types, especially considering the next guy…
<Insert Nickname here> (Ninetales) @ Life Orb
Timid Nature (+Speed/-Attack)
Flash Fire
-6 Hp -252 SpA -252 Spe
-Flamethrower/Fire Blast
-Energy Ball
-Extrasensory
-Hidden Power Water
The main point for this foxy lady is to bait a fire move that may be pointing at Tropius or Shiftry. Switch, and get a useful 50% boost to her fire attacks that will definitely cause some damage. This set has some good coverage, and delivers super-effective hits on 10 of the 17 Pokemon types, and hits the rest with neutral damage.
So there you guys have it: my first themed team (and my first UU team actually). Remember guys, I just started doing this, so please understand and try to be gentle with thrashing this to pieces ;).
