My First Wi-fi Team (hopefully)

Hi guys,

I want to have a clear opinion on this team I made. It is my first team
I want to use in Wifi-battles. Maybe it has still some rough edges, so I
decided to post it here, just to make those edges become perfectly
clean. Please comment what I have to change, or anything else to make this team work!!

Jolteon @ Choice Specs (Lead)
Timid nature
- Thunderbolt - HP (ice)
- Signal Beam - Shadow Ball

To start off with some damaging, I go for Jolteon. Great Special attack and Speed makes it my
lead pokemon. I had to choose between jolteon or tyranitar, but wanted tyranitar to come in in
later in battle.

Tyranitar @ Leftovers (Sweeper)
Adamant nature
- Rock Polish - Crunch
- Earthquake - Stone Edge

I'd choose Tyranitar due to it's massive attack, which makes it my sweeper. Because it is not that
fast, I gave it rock polish so speed gets cranked up a little. earthquake is a must-have, and stone-edge
is also a strong attack.

Dusknoir @ Leftovers (Wall)
Impish nature
- Will-o-Wisp - Shadow Punch
- Pain Split - Fire Punch

I felt like having a Dusknoir. With some WoW it can be very annoying when it works together
with Skarmory. As my team had no fire pokemon, I've chosen fire punch mainly against Grass and Steel
pokemon. pain split comes in handy, and shadow punch gives nice STAB.

Skarmory @ Chesto Berry (Spiker)
Impish nature
- Drill Peck - Roar
- Spikes - Rest

MY FAVORITE POKEMON!! Ahum.. I always liked the spikes and roar combo,
so I decided to give it a go. I gave my skarmory rest + a chesto berry to
recover fully and then wake up like there has nothing happened. drill peck
is a awesome flying-type move, and since skarmory had no offense moves,
this was the solution.

Forretress @ Shed shell (spinner)
Relaxed nature
- Rapid Spin - Stealth Rock
- Explosion - Gyro Ball

Comes late in the match. As skarmory faints, forretress replaces it with stealth rock.
rapid spin to get those annoying spikes away that my opponement has placed, and
Gyro ball because of the lack of speed. When forretress has done it's job, Explosion
does the final blow.

Kingdra @ Choice Specs (Spec. Sweeper)
Timid nature
- Surf - Draco Meteor
- Hydro Pump - Dragon Pulse

Almost no weaknesses, and killer spec. attack. With STAB attacks, it became my special
sweeper. Choice specs gives the extra bonus to make this my favorite dragon at the moment.

As much as I love Jolteon, I can't really think of any reason for it to be a lead. Try the standard Metagross lead. Replace Forretress with Starmie for a spinner and give your team some variety. Jolteon is a good Subpasser too, which is what I use. Get rid of Dusknoir for a dancing tank Gliscor set. This will give your team some more offense. I hope take this into consideration.

Actually his team isn't weak to Stealth Rock or Spikes so a spinner isn't necessary.

But it would be good though, to get rid of Toxic Spikes, or if all the entry hazards were used together. :P

I'm not going to try sounding like a professional, or someone who has been battling for a super long time to know everything. This is my first comprehensive RMT, so forgive me if I'm just babbling on about n00b stuff.

Not much is going to beat out that Jolteon as a lead as far as speed, and it will deal some damage. However Focus Sash users will put the momentum in your opponent's hand, since you're now locked into a move and they can easily switch to something that resists/walls Jolteon, and get a free turn of setup as you swap out. Generally, using a Choice item on a lead Poke is a bad idea for this reason. An alternative would be Life Orb, which gives you the same 2HKO's that Choice Specs would against the most common leads, as well as allowing you to swap up your attack.

If you want to trick your opponent into thinking you have a choice item, Expert Belt might work, and give you the surprise attack as they swap to a counter. It doesn't deal as much damage as a Life Orb or Choice Specs would, and it doesn't deal enough on non-SE attacks, so it shouldn't be your #1 choice. Maybe # 5 or 6.

As others have said, you're not particularly weak against Stealth Rock, though Toxic Spikes against your T-Tar and Kingdra would suck (Kingdra for sure). So it's your call, but I defiantly recommend changing your defensive core. Both Skarmory and Forettress have a weakness to fire, so switch one out for something that can pick up your fire weakness and be a special defense tank on top of it. T-Tar could work, except the majority of Pokemon with a fire-type attack also carry an attack he is weak against (thinking Focus Blast/HP Fire Gengar, Fire Blast/Close Combat Infernape, Flare Blitz/EQ Arcanine, etc). While they may not always be OHKOs, having your only physical sweeper on the last dribbling bits of its HP with or without Rock Polish is a bad situation.

To this end, Tentacruel over Forettress would be my first choice. It has meh attacking power, but it's got great special defense, absorbs Toxic Spikes, spins away Spikes and Stealth Rock, can set up your own Toxic Spikes, and with a little EV investment its physical defense can work out OK (assuming attaker has been burned by Dusknoir, better). It also has great typing psynergy with the rest of your team. For T-Tar, it resists Steel and Water attacks. Skarmory is immune to its Ground weakness, and T-Tar is immune to it's Psychic weakness.

*On that note, if you're going to run T-tar, you are practically obligated to have a Skarmory. It's immune to his Ground weakness and neutral to his Fighting weakness, and doesn't mind the sandstorm - in fact, Skarmory LOVES the sandstorm's special defense boost. In reverse, T-Tar doesn't mind taking a few Fire hits for Skarmory. So unless you remove T-Tar, keep Skarmory.

However, doing this would mean no Stealth Rock to damage those immune to Skarmory's spikes. Your call.

On Dusknoir, you might want to replace Shadow Punch with Protect to stall for Pressure/burn damage/sandstorm damage, and it makes general attack scouting easier. Otherwise, significant investment in attack is needed to 2HKO even Gengar sometimes, and Attack is not a stat a wall needs boosted.

Thunder Wave instead of Rock Polish may be more beneficial to Tyranitar, since it would give you the off chance of a free turn, as well as crippling your opponent's speed. The only drawback is ground types being immune to the effects, but you shouldn't be staying in against ground types anyways. The majority of them are physically defensive and can take your hits, then STAB EQ back for a 2HKO. Though be aware of having too many status attacks (toxic spikes tentacruel would conflict with this), as they can overlap and you may end up with the wrong status on an enemy Pokemon (like Poisoned on a physical sweeper, preventing you from T-waving it).

For Skarmory, I know this practically makes it a Smogon set, but a Magnezone/Probopass would ruin it (and thus half of your defensive core), so opt for Shed Shell and give yourself Roost over Rest. Just be careful of people predicting your Roost and EQ'ing if you happen to go first.

It's a good start overall, though it seems a bit haphazardly thrown together. Try thinking about the most common threats in the OU metagame (Scizor, Gyarados, Infernape, Lucario, enemy T-Tars and Kingdras, Heatrans, etc.), what you have to respond to those threats, and revise your team accordingly. Then post your revised team/edit first post.

Good luck!

EDIT: Lawl I'm blind. Didn't even notice Kingdra's set. Yeah, keep either Surf or Hydro Pump, and either Draco meteor or Dragon Pulse. Generally, late game, you'll need accuracy over power (most Pokemon should be half or less, or severely crippled), but Kingdra has average attacking stats. I recommend Hydro Pump, Draco Meteor, HP of choice, Ice Beam. DM is kept despite also running Ice Beam because it can wreck tat one Pokemon that managed to remain unscathed. Also available is Toxic, in case Tentacruel went out before it could do its job.

Your Pokemon have no EVs, please fix this problem or I'll have to lock this thread under rule 2.
