VGC My "I have no idea what I'm doing" Pokemon Team

What are your thoughts on my Togekiss paired with Alakazam/Gallade opener?

Greetings everyone. I am brand new to these forums, and 3 weeks old as far as playing Pokemon goes. A friend said I would like it, I was skeptical, but she was right, it's incredibly fun.

I'm attempting to make a team for VGC, and I'm actually competing in an event this weekend. I'd greatly appreciate any constructive feedback you can give me for the team that has quite literally been thrown together over the course of the past 2 weeks.

I've gone 8 wins out of 10 matches in random online battles with this team, but that was unrated, against who knows who. Any constructive feedback is welcome.

065Alakazam.png

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Synchronize
EVs : 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Psyshock
-Dazzling Gleam
-Shadow Ball
-Psychic

This pokemon has always been my favorite, and I've had the most success with him as my sweeper. I have psyshock in there for when I run across something with an incredibly high SpD stat. I usually lead with him and Togekiss

gallade.jpg

Gallade @ Galladite
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Swords Dance
-Zen Headbutt
-Knock Off
-Close Combat

Yes, I do actually have 2 mega capable pokemon on my team, even though it's my understanding most people consider this a bad choice. Sometimes I will have Gallade replace Alakazam as a sweeper depending on what pokemon my opponent has.

togekiss.jpg

Togekiss Leftovers
Ability: Super Luck (yea, I know, I got sick of rolling the breeding dice and wasn't going to use him that way anyways)
EVs: 104 / Def 252 / SpD 152
Bold Nature
-Yawn
-Tailwind
-Safeguard
-Follow Me

My typical open is Togekiss teamed up with either Alakazam or Gallade. Togekiss throws out follow me over and over, while the Gallade/Alakazam knocks out the team. Yes togekiss will eventually die, but by that time their team is 'usually' crippled.

galvantula.jpg

Galvantula Focus sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs : 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Electroweb
-Thunderwave
-Bug Buzz
-Thunder

Electroweb and Thunder Wave are nice to have, but most of the times I ended up needing/using him was just to pick something off that was weak to bug attacks. Not really sure the best way to utilize this guy for VGC.

250px-322Numel.png

Numel @Eviolite
Ability: Simple
EVs: 200 hp / 152 Def / 152 SpD
Bold Nature
-Stockpile
-Will-O-Wisp
-Rest
-Flame Charge

Very defensive, throws out stockpiles while will-o-wisp eats away at their hp. Hits rest when low on hp and can usually take the hits before he wakes up, especially if stockpile has been stacked 3 times. It's slow though, and is much more difficult to pull off in doubles. (I saw it in a singles youtube video and liked it)

swampert.jpg

Swampert Lum Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: A little bit of everything
Adamant Nature
-Rock Slide
-Ice Punch
-Waterfall
-Earthquake

As you may have guessed, he was my first pokemon, played through the game with him, hence his spread out EV's. I just put him on there because I don't really have a 6th pokemon yet, and just thought it might help throw off the opponents guessing on what to bring. I've never actually used him in an online battle because of the lack of bred out IV's and properly trained EV's.

So obviously it needs a lot of work. Any sort of advice, or reference to a video/article I could watch/read on team building, or anything of the sort that can help out someone who has been playing for less than a month would be greatly appreciated.

First things first I'm new to the website as well, and although I've been playing Pokemon for a couple of years, only recently heard about VGC and competitive battling, so I'm in a similar boat to you. Here's what I've got:
Alakazam: Looks great to me, although if this is a doubles tournament, try protect>psychic, since you already have shadow ball and psyshock
Gallade: Fine
Togekiss: This Pokemon definitely needs an attack move, perhaps dazzling gleam paired with super luck? Even flamethrower. Otherwise, you may encounter a situation where it is simply dead weight with no one to support
Galvantula: Thunderbolt or discharge (discharge for doubles as it hits all Pokemon)>thunder, and probably EITHER electro web or thunder wave with protect instead for the one you remove(if this is doubles)
Numel: Earthquake>flame charge (hits all opponents)
Swampert: If you have a life orb, or are able to get one, equip it with this item instead. Also, I may inform you that you can use a reset bag in super training (bottom screen) to reset the EVs of a Pokemon.

Apart from this, I feel as though more Pokemon on his team need the move protect. Protect allows a Pokemon to take no damage while a partner cleans up. For example, Galvantular and Swampert vs Sceptile and (other). Swampert protects, takes no damage, while Galvantular destroys Sceptile with bug buzz.

This is a great team, but a few tweaks are required.

Just starting out you may need updated descriptions and maybe a better spread than "a little bit of everything" but I'll try my best.
Now atm moment your team is 4-0ed by Amoonguss+ Salamence or something like Virizion plus Salamence. I will try to help you out. Also Numel is really bad and can get 2HKoed easily before it gets up Stock Piles. Also Galvantula isn't great as well as double Psychic. So I'll try my best
Alakazam- I really wouldn't recommend using it. Also I forgot to mention that Aegislash also 4-0es your team so a Dark type would help. I would use Specs Hydreigon in this slot as it can plough through ghost types with ease. I'm not too sure about the spread but a simple 252 SpA / 252 Spe might work.
Gallade- Gallade looks fine put use Protect over SD. Reason being that Gallade has low speed before mega and Protect allows it to mega evolve safely. Also avoids double-targets and whatnot.
Togekiss- Now your moveset isn't the most sufficient atm so ill give you a better one. Now you should use the moves Tailwind, Air Slash, Protect and Follow Me. This allows you to deal damage and has protect allows a great option. A good spread is rapha's which is 252 HP / 116 Def / 4 SpA / 60 SpD / 76 Spe with a Bold nature. Also if you really don't want to get Serene Grace go with maxwell's suggestion of Dazzling Gleam. Also Roost>Protect is an option.
Galvantula- Just letting you know that is a singles Galvantula set and honestly it isn't that hot in doubles. I would change this to maybe Ferrothron. Ferrothorn can counter fairies well and can easily check bulky waters. You can just use the Smogon standard spread for this with the moves Leech Seed, Power Whip, Gyro Ball and Protect
Numel- Numel isn't great as I said so I think you need a differnet fire type. Anything from Arcanine, Heatran, Rotom-H to Entei should work here. Maybe someone else will pick the best one but all work somewhat well.
Swampert- Now Swampert shouldn't be ran physical imo unless mega. Also the main reason to use Swampert over Gastrodon is for Wide Guard. Now Wide Guard helps your team alot so I'll add it with the moveset of Ice Beam, Scald and earth Power. A standard 252 HP / 4 Def / 228 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe spread can be used here with a Modest nature. also run Expert Belt>Lum Berry

I can explain spreads if you want and can give you some fire type spreads. Good luck with the team :)

EDIT: You can test on PS and once you breed it in-game I would try out rated.

This is the part I don't understand. I've had no problem against ghost types with mega-alakazam. With his high speed and his shadow ball, he eats through ghost types.

Also, Togekiss protects gallade with follow me before his mega evolve.

Well, for part one, Aegislash doesn't even care about Alakazam's Shadow Ball due to its natural high Special Defense, and that also risks setting up a Weakness Policy, which would make your team a lot more vulnerable to the spooky sword's Flash Cannon and Shadow Ball (specially the latter).

For part 2, Togekiss cannot protect Gallade from situations such as -ate ability Hyper Voice, which both of the most common abusers (Salamence and Gardevoir) check Mega Gallade pretty well and also threaten Alakazam due to its natural low bulk. Protect is a staple choice, and set up moves are rarely used in VGC at all.

I personally like having two megas because it gives you another option against a team one might get walled by. (Swampert was my first mon too!)
Gallade: Gallade is an underrated mega, but it has no defense against Fairy-type moves and can be OHKOed by Hyper Voice. Replace Swords Dance with Protect; Gallade most likely won't have time to set up and already hits hard.
Togekiss: I would suggest running Protect over Yawn. Unless used with a Shadow Tag teammate, the target can just switch out. You should also have an offensive move so it doesn't become completely useless if Taunted. Dazzling Gleam is a good STAB spread move and it will deal decent damage.
Numel: I've never seen an Eviolite Numel, so I can't give you much advice. I would recommend replacing it with a better bulky Fire-type like Arcanine or Heatran.
Swampert: You should probably modify the EV spread, or else it's incomplete.
