I've been playing DOUs for a few weeks and I've peaked around 1350 elo with this team. I would like to know what could be improved.
Charizard @ Wise Glasses
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Air Slash
- Tailwind
- Protect
Charizard helps me deal with Steel/Grass stallers like Ferrothorn, Celesteela or Amoonguss. While TR lets me attack first with my slower pokemon tailwind is for when I need to pivot my strategy and ensure I always go first with my faster pokemon. I'm not really sure about solar power I just thought that blaze was kind of useless since Charizard can get 1-hit K.O.d in most bad matchups.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Curse
- Protect
- Gyro Ball
Ferrothorn has 2 win conditions that need to be met either separately or combined either as a staller or a sweeper with curse. I first try to outlive my oponent through leech seed + leftovers. Then once I'm secure from being one-shoted I begin to curse my way to becoming an unkillable sweeper.
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Aqua Jet
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
Urshifu is my main sweeper and provides a check for fire types that can put my Ferrothorn in danger. He normally goes first and if he lands his move 80% of the time is a K.O. Unseen fist provides for a great counter to strategies that rely on protecting the enemy sweeper on the first turn to set up some kind of stat rise. Aqua jet is necessary for shutting down low health-high stat opponents.
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Download
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ally Switch
- Tri Attack
- Recover
- Trick Room
Porygon is my main Tank given his normal nature he's only really vulnerable to fighting moves but even so his evolite makes him extra tanky. He can set up trick room for Rhyperior and Ferrothorn. He also has insane utility through paralyze, burn or freeze with the tri attack. Ally switch allows me to protect my sweepers for an extra turn most of the times.
Rhyperior @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Brave Nature
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Rock Slide
- Megahorn
Rypherior is my Main sweeper while in TR, either set by me or my opponent. His ability Lightening rod provides a check for electric moves that might try to one-shot my ursifu or charizard. Also if weakness policy gets activated while TR is up I can earthquake my way to victory. He's only weak outside of TR because he can be one-shoted grass or water sweepers but I normally outplay this by using protect + TR or ally switch.
Oranguru @ Mental Herb
Ability: Telepathy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Instruct
- Trick Room
- Quash
- Psych Up
Oranguru is my latest addition to the team. Instruct synergizes well with curse from ferrothorn or both sweepers' moves like earthquake, surging fists or close combat. I'm not sure about quash, I've been very annoyed as the recipient of that move in the past so I decided to try it. Having a second TR user enables my Ferrothorn and Rhyperior to do their job even if my Porygon2 is out of the battle.
If you find interest in telling me how to improve I would be very very grateful.
