Hey there everyone! I am Infinity.Cypher, aka Ace Idiot / Yagami Light on Skarmbliss PO. This year was my first year at VGCs. I was supposed to go in 2009 and 2010, but I had family plans, so I couldn't go. I started preparing for VGCs on May 1st, and my first team wasn't really successful, so I started to use different teams. But, later on, I realized that my first team was my best team, and the team with all my favorite pokemon in it. So, at VGCs, I was able to sweep through different types of team.
TL;DR = Here's my team I used in VGCs (some things are missing because I might used them in nats)
THE BATTLES
My heart was pounding due to being at my first VGCs. After regristration, I was lead to my first opponent. My whole body was shaking, but I had to win. I wanted to be the Northeast Senior champ. So, my opponent and I preceded our battle. Before we battle, we said good luck to each other.
Round 1:
I won, which made me happy, because I got my first goal out of the way, getting past round 1. I went to Area 2, where my second opponent was. I felt pretty bad about my opponent, because she was a little girl. I had to face her, because she was the only person in Area 2 Seniors without an opponent. Before we battle, she said she was kind of surprised that she would get up to round 2. Before we battle, we both said good luck.
Round 2:
I felt bad, and I still feel bad. I told her Good Game (which I feel bad about saying, even though I swept her), and went to Area 3. Here, I sat next to my friend’s friends, who were unlucky, because they had to battle each other, and the refs wouldn’t allow them to Friend Clause. In Area 3, I waited for my opponent, who turned out to be my friend (who I know outside of Smogon). Deciding that we would battle each other later, we friend claused. My opponent came, and we talked before we battle. Then I realized he was a Smogonite/Skarmbliss user. That kind of got me scared. So, as usual, we said Good Luck (I think).
Round 3:
WAT. WAT. I won, by hax… That made me feel bad, because it was a game won by hax, and I hoped hax really wouldn’t occur. Good games were exchanged, but, it was in actuality, a horrible, hax game (redundant, I know) But, I walked to to the next area, Area 4, leaving my friend behind because he was still battling. My next opponent… was a little girl. Then I saw her team.
Round 4:
FINALIST LONGUE YESSSSSSSSSS
I couldn’t believe it, but I was in the Finalist Longue yes! I told her Good Game (and it still feels like a horrible phrase to say). I went to the Finalist area, in which they took my game for a hack check. I just walked around the area, and got food to eat. My friend was able to get his match on TV, which I was slightly jealous of, since I wanted to show everyone in the arena my match. His friends, him, and I then relaxed after the four rounds. Out of my friend’s group, only two of them got into finalist longue, due to one friend losing to the other friend, and the last friend losing due to hacks (not hax). During this time, I looked around, and saw some Smogonites, Ducks, and Skarmbliss users, and watched some of the pokemon battles on the tv.
After a while, I went to the Finalist Longue, and there, my friends and I were trying to calculate how many Bye Cards and Play Cards would be handed out. Since there were 26 Seniors, that means only 6 Seniors get Bye Cards. Since we were sitting in the back, we were complaining how we wouldn’t get Bye Cards since it would be distributed to the front tables. We got the Play Cards, meaning we had to battle an extra round.
So we had to leave the Finalist Longue to go the battle area. Thinking strategically, we were in different spots in the lines so we didn’t have to battle each other. So, I was lead to my first opponent in the Finalist. Before battle, we get Good Luck
Round 5:
Okay, I’m in the FINALIST LONGUE AND THIS MEANS I GET AN INVITE YES! Okay, I didn’t realize that, because after winning, I was lead to my next opponent, who was a Duck. This made me scared. I was thinking, a duck, a duck, a duck. But I was able to get my mind together. Saying good luck, we started.
Round 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1lrTspCFn8&feature=channel_video_title (I recommend you mute the video)
We gave a handshake, and I went to my next area
Round 7:
Round 8:
Round 9:
I was eliminated… I felt kind of disappointed in myself, since I made those two major mistakes that could have led me to win. Anyways, I went to the TV area, were they were broadcasting the matches. My friend was able to get into top 8, and another TV match, this time, as the opponent. I wanted to record the match, but it was too late, for the match has already started. At first, I thought he was going to lose, but he surprised me, because he was able to stall out the TR, and sweep. He was able to get into Top 4.
For Top 4 Seniors, they didn’t broadcast any matches. Instead, they broadcast the Junior finals, which was 4-0 sweep. I was going to record, but didn’t because I didn’t realize that match was the Junior finals, and the match started already.
It was time for the Senior Finalist match, and it was Solace and Superpokemon67. At first, I was disappointed that my friend wasn’t going to being in the final match, but then I realized who was playing. It was Superpokemon67, who I talked to on Skarmbliss PO. I was surprised, because I though he was eliminated because I didn’t see him in the finalist longue. I recorded the battle on my camera, but I think it’s not good quality, because I kept on moving the camera.
Afterwards, I just walked around, and left.

Round 1:
Vs. Thomas N.
Tornadus/Musharna/Gigalith/Eelektross
I saw his team, and it was Trick Room. So I use my Trick Room counter leads, Mienshao and Chandelure. He sends out Musharna and Tornadus (I think). I Fake Out Tornadus, and prevented Musharna from setting up TR. Can't remember what happened, but Tornadus used Aerial Ace instead of Acrobatics, which kinda surprised me because I expected Flight Jewel Acrobatics on Chandelure. Then I koed his Tornadus I think using spread moves, and damaged Musharna. He then switches in Gigalith. Mienshao used Drain Punch on Gigalith and Gigalith is in the yellow, and Mienshao get hurt due to Rocky Helmet. I can’t remember this part, somehow his Musharna fainted, my Mienshao fainted, his Gigalith koed my Chandelure with Rock Blast. And then it ends up with my Terrakion and Hydreigon vs his both badly damaged Eelektross and Gigalith. Terra Closed Combat’d Eelektross and Hydreigon Dark Pulse’d Gigalith for the win. 2-0 Me.
PS: Burn Hax on opponent I think

Round 2:
Vs. Keely R.
???/???/Tornadus?/Pansage
I forgot this match as well, but she had an underleved Virizion (which made me feel bad), Terrakion, Tornadus, Pansage. All I remember is that I led with Mienshao + Chandelure, I really cannot remember her leads. After I Fake Out on of her leads, I made an accidental misclick switching my Chandelure for my Whimsicott. Luckily, it didn’t really cost me the match, I think. Then my mind draws to a blank. I have Chandelure and Whimsicott and she has her last two pokemon out, which were were Pansage and Tornadus. I forgot what Tornadus did, but her Pansage used Flame Burst, which koed my Whimsicott. Surprising, my Chandelure’s Heat Wave did more than half of Pansage’s hp. It didn’t ko her pokemon though. I then switched in Terrakion, and used Rock Slide for the win. 3-0 Me.
PS: No hax

Round 3:
Vs. Daniel S., the hardest match imo
Carrecosta/Amoongus/Terra/Tornadus
HAX GAME IS HAX. His team made me panic, because he used a combo I feared. I led with Mienshao and Whimsicott, with Terra and Chandelure as back-up. Stuff happens here, which I won’t say. But Rage Powder and Stat boosting moves are annoying. Realizing my Whim’s moves are futile against his leads, I switched to Chandelure, hoping that hax will occur. It happened. Rock Slide missed on Chandelure , which it wouldn’t survive. I was able to turn the tide around in the battle, as I used Wide Guard to prevent Rock Slide from hitting my pokemon. Then, hoping for another hax, I used Wide Guard again, and it worked (I cannot believe I relied on hax), Heat Wave was able to ko both his pokemon. He then switches to two more pokemon, and I was able to ko the first one with Drain Punch, and the second one with Heat Wave. I barely won. 3-0 Me.
(I don’t want to say anything about his team because he might be going to LCQs/Nats)
PS: ROCK SLIDE HAX AND WIDE GUARD HAX (I should have lost this one to be quite honest )

Krook/Thundurus/Terra/Tornadus?
DISCHARGEQUAKE FUUUUUU-. I hate dischargequake, because it ruins my team badly. But, I was able to use lucky prediction to win. I use Chandelure/Mienshao/Terra?/Whim?. She lead with Krook and Thundurus. First turn, she protects with Thundurus, but instead, I Fake out her Krook (who I though was scarfed), and Chandelure used TR. Turn 2, Mienshao uses Wide Guard, and Chandelure uses Heat Wave, which hits both her pokemons for more than half. Expected, she did use the dischargequake combo, which I was able to shield my leads with due to Wide Guard. I then Heat Wave both, with koed both. She switches in Terra and Tornadus. I use Heat Wave and Drain Punch, which koed Terra, and left Tornadus injured. Chandelure than Shadow Ball’d Tornadus for the win. .4-0 Me.

Round 5:
Vs. David K.
Thundurus/Landorus/Terra/Tornadus?
I have some recollection of this match. Also, Dischargequake. I think I used Whimsicott/Mienshao/Terrakion/Archeops. I lead with my usually lead (what I lead in PO), Whimsicott and Mienshao, while he leads with Landorus and Thundurus. I use Tailwind first turn, and Fake Out Landorus, thinking it was scarfed. Thundurus then use Discharge, which badly hurt my Mienshao, but it survived with ~6hp, and Whimsicott’s hp was almost halved. Whimsicott and Mienshao hits both genies, and Thundurus attacks first with Discharge, koing my Mienshao, and putting my Whim in the Yellow or Red. Somehow, my Whim survived the Landorus’s EQ or Rock Slide, can’t remember. I switch in Terra, and koed both genies with Rock Slide. He switches in Tornadus and Terra. I think I koed Terra and Rock Slide Tornadus . I think this was 2-0 or 3-0
(I believe this story is told wrong, I’ll try my best to remember the correct order of events)

Vs. Solace
Jelli/Chandelure/Eelektross/Conkeldurr
Not going to say a lot, in case she doesn't want to reveal her team. In this match, I made mistakes. First, I shouln't have set up TR, and second, I shouldn't have used Heat Wave on my last turn. I used Mienshao/Chandelure/Whimsicott/Hydreigon. (Using variables for opponent's pokemon woooo)
I lead with Chandelure/Mienshao. I switch out Chandelure for Hydreigon to take a Shadow Ball. Mienshao uses Wide Guard to see which of her to pokemon is the faster/scarf one. X uses Water Spout, so I knew it was Scarfed, while Y used Shadow Ball on my Hydreigon, causing Hydreigon's Sp.def to get lowered. I switched out Mienshao for Whim, predicting that Y will switch out. Instead, she switches out X for Z, and Y kos my Whimsicott. I switch in my Chandelure. I used Dark Pulse on Y, which survives due to Sash, and my Chandelure kos Z with Heat Wave, but her Y didn’t get hit, which surprised me, and it kos my Hydreigon. She switches back to X, and I switch in my Mienshao. X outsped my Mienshao, and used Shadow Ball, when I, for some reason, expected Water Spout. It doesn’t ko my Mienshao., so my Mienshao koed her Y. AND THEN CHANDELURE TRICK ROOMED WHEN I THOUGH IT USED SHADOW BALL FUUUUUU-. Next turn, I had a chance to win, but I USED THE WRONG MOVE FUUUUU-. She switches in A, which kos my Mienshao, and INSTEAD OF USING SHADOW BALL ON HER X, I USED HEAT WAVE@@@ Then she koed my Chandelure with Shadow Ball...
Good game, good game Solace(my Chandelure would have koed X with Shadow Ball) (I have the battle in my Vs. Recorder, so I;m going to take a video of it with bad quality, and upload it)
PS: HAX (NOT REALLY). PREDICTION HAX. SHADOW BALL LOWER 10% SP.DEF and HEAT WAVE CRIT HAX that would ko Hydreigon anyways (I bet it's retribution for my earlier hax)
