XY OU My Mega Sceptile Team

Hey guys. I have been laddering with this team quite a bit and it has gotten me quite a decent win/loss ratio, so I was just wondering what you guys thought of it. It's based around Mega Sceptile, as you might have already guessed. Although he is RU he still works superbly in OU as a late game sweeper/ revenge killer.

Team:

Sceptile-Mega @ Sceptilite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Rash Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Earthquake
- Dragon Pulse

This is the teams "main man" if you will. After the rest of the team have cleared up the steel type threats that this grass/dragon hates, he can easily clear up the opponents team, easily 2HKOing the likes of Lando-t and standard Latias with it's STAB moves and having a chance to OHKO Sp.Def Heatran with Earthquake after rocks. It is also fast enough to take on scarfers with a base speed of 96 and under, so it out speeds things like scarf Kyurem-B, scarfed Heatran and scarf Landorus. With it's power and speed it is a force to be reckoned with. Leaf Storm is his main STAB Grass nuke, while Dragon Pulse hits for more consistent damage against dragons and mons that resist Leaf Storm. Earthquake as I've already said, is to hit Heatran (it hits harder and more reliably than Focus Blast) and the odd Magnezone whereas Hidden power Fire picks off weakened steels like Mega Metagross, Ferrothorn and Skarmory. The EV spread maximizes the damage output from both Sceptile's physical and special moves and keeps Sceptile's speed high enough to out speed most of the tier.

Calcs:
252+ SpA Mega Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 72 HP / 0 SpD Latias: 264-312 (82.7 - 97.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 304-358 (95.2 - 112.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 304-358 (79.5 - 93.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Mega Sceptile Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 300-356 (77.9 - 92.4%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Mega Sceptile Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Metagross: 144-170 (47.8 - 56.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gliscor: 321-378 (90.6 - 106.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Latias.full.1637691.jpg

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish

I needed a defogger, because well- what's an OU team without one? No seriously the team is rather frail, and since it's a hyper offensive team the chip damage from rocks doesn't work in my favour. So why not Latias? It provides another ground immunity to the team, and a check to powerful fighting types that could rip through my team, like Keldeo and Mega Venusaur who my team also has trouble with. The set is rather standard, but does the job well. Draco Meteor annihilates anything that stands in it's way. I originally had Hidden Power Fire over Psyshock but then realised that Psyshock might be a better option to hit things like Mega Altaria and Venusaur. Defog and Healing Wish give it a supporting role, allowing it to clear rocks and heal another team member (possibly my win condition) in times of need.

Calcs:

184 SpA Life Orb Latias Psyshock vs. 64 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 133-157 (43.3 - 51.1%) -- 4.7% chance to 2HKO (not much, but it at least makes it a bit more manageable)

184 SpA Life Orb Latias Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Venusaur: 199-235 (54.6 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

terrakion_the_mighty_musketeer_by_xous54-d4jlbg1.png

Terrakion @ Focus Sash
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Taunt

I needed a way set up rocks (so I could ensure KOs on certain pokemon), so I decided to use Terrakion as a sort of "semi-suicide lead". He is faster than a lot of lead pokemon anyways, so can taunt them if they try to get rocks up and set up rocks on the following turn, or on any switches he forces. Close Combat and Stone Edge are hard hitting STABs that can break through weak walls. He also acts as a Heatran check and a back up steel killer if either Magnezone or Landorus go down. Lastly Stone Edge/Focus sash can lead to some scarf bluffing and anti-bird spam shenanigans.

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Landorus-T is the multi-tasker of the team. He has many, many roles including spamming U-turn providing synergy and switch initiative, baiting in steels for magnezone, checking bird spam and the Mega Zards and finally being a revenge killer. With Intimidate essentially adding to landorus-t's defense, it becomes bulky enough to check Mega Altaria, Talonflame and Mega Metagross. Earthquake is for STAB (obviously), Stone Edge hits flying types hard and Knock Off is for a little bit of utility as it can cripple walls and other offensive mons.

Calcs:

-1 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 154-183 (48.2 - 57.3%) -- 92.6% chance to 2HKO

192+ Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 220-261 (68.9 - 81.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 64 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 163-193 (53 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (Lando is faster so would win every time)

Azumarill_by_Xous54.png

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Atk / 52 Def
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall

Azumarill hits hard, especially with a choice band. Superpower wrecks opposing Ferrothorn and Magnezone switches while Play, Rough, Waterfall and Aqua Jet are powerful STABs, the latter making up for Azumarill's speed and allowing it to finish off weakened pokemon. This is my main dragon counter, being able to deal with the Eon Twins and Mega Zard X with relative ease, and also being able to hurt bulky ground types with it's STABs. The EVs allow it to (barely) survive Mega Altaria's Return at +1 from full health and KO with Play Rough.

Calcs:

+1 192+ Atk Pixilate Mega Altaria Return vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Azumarill: 342-403 (84.6 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

204+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 64 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 464-548 (151.1 - 178.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

204+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Superpower vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 302-356 (85.7 - 101.1%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Magnezone.png

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt

Last but not least, Sceptile's partner in crime Magnezone. It is really a necessity to have on this team as
it can trap and KO steel types, aswell as providing synergy and checking fairy and flying types. It's nature and EVs let it hit hard and still be relatively fast with the choice scarf at hand. Volt switch provides synergy and switch initiative while HP Fire KOs the steels Sceptile's despises. Thunderbolt and Flash Canon are STABs that can deal considerable damage to opponents.

The biggest weakness this team has is to SD Talonflame, who can set up on Sceptile pretty easily, is fast enough to outspeed Magnezone and Flare Blitz it, and which even Landorus-T can be OHKOed if Talonflame is at +2. A quick way to fix this would be to run Magneton over Magnezone, however this is probably a bad idea because you become much more vulnerable to Fairy types like Azumarill, Mega Gardevoir and Mega Diancie which Magneton can't really switch into properly unlike Magnezone. I think a better option would be running Offensive Air Baloon Heatran over Terrakion as your Rock setter, this also enables you to check Volcarona who can deal some serious damage to your team if it's a Bug Buzz variant and gets to +1 (Passho Berry is wuite common on it so Azumarill isn't really a check), Rock Polish Mega-Diancie which you also heavily rely on Azumarill to revenge kill, and Celebi which can get really annoying to handle since it checks most of your team bar Landorus-T who can't switch in. It also lets you set up rocks against Sableye teams more easily and has excellent type synergy with Sceptile and Azumarill in general, providing you with a FWG core.

The big problem with removing Terrakion is that , if you do that, Bisharp is a huge problem for your team. Perhaps you could run Substitute and Focus Blast over HP Fire and EQ on Sceptile, Sub enabling you to dodge Bisharp's Sucker Punches and Focus Blast being a nice middle ground between EQ and HP Fire which guaranteed the OHKO (though since you have Magnezone already you can probably get away with EQ over Focus Blast, but it can't OHKO Bisharp which means you have to revenge kill it with Azumarill so be careful)

Finally, I can see Mega-Metagross being a huge threat, half your team is vulnerable to it and your best check, Landorus-T, can't repeatidely switch in. One way you could deal with this is run Heatran as your scarfer and Landorus-T as your rock setter. This enables you to check MMeta a bit better since Heatran can switch in on both of its STABs. Physically Defensive Landorus-T is a pretty reliable rock setter all things considered and can slow pivot into an offensive threat which is nice. It also deals with Bisharp slightly better than the Scarf variant, and can actually handle Talonflame if it carries a Rock move. Unfortunately, this makes you weaker to RP MDiancie compared to the SR Heatran version since it outspeed Scarf Heatran and Earth Power kills it since it doesn't carry a Balloon. Landorus-T can still take one hit and OHKO back though, so it's not all bad.

I was thinking that Terrakion was a bit of a weak link on the team, and Heatran seems like a perfect replacement, as it checks M.Altaria and M.Metagross if it still has it's balloon. Azumarill already counters Bisharp (252+ Atk Bisharp Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 52 Def Azumarill: 159-187 (39.3 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO) and Heatran and Landorus would check it, so I wouldn't see it as a threat. Thanks for the help.
