Hello guys, i have not been in the game for a while now and am getting used to the metagame once again, and to my shock horror Salamence is now uber. He was one of my favourite sweepers, or tanks, or specs users ( i guess he was too useful for OU). Anyway my team uses various mixed tactics and wall breakers to try and allow a tyranitar sweep. It has its weaknesses, which hopefully you guys will help me sort out, i have had average succes with about 70% win rate i guess. Anyway onto the team.
Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
This is my favourite suicide lead, because it has a wide coverage over pretty much everything, taunt stops all those stall teams with forry, skarm or hippow leads from being a pain as well as breaking any wall that the opponent may send in after the opposing lead has died. Stealth rock is as standard, fire blast over flamethrower due to power and the fact its a suicide lead and will die anwyay, after killing one pokemon i will bang with explosion.
Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Explosion
- Hypnosis
- Focus Blast
Gengar has always been one of my favourite pokemon, due to its unpredicable nature, the oppenent does not know whats coming when he meets them. I switch him in if to cover for a earthquake coming or anything else he resists, he is my blissey killer though this is usually quite hard, but his hypnosis support is vital. He like azlef usually gets at least 1 kill because of his unpredictablitiy. Focus Blast is too stop an enemy TTar setting up which could be bad.
Empoleon (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 24 Def/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Substitute
- Surf
- Ice Beam
Empoleon this way is a beast, coming in on a CB Scizor or something else locked into a futile attack i set up and sweep, as standard agility, sub and surf are included. I was not sure weather to have surf though as Hyrdro pump would do more, yet surf seems to do well after that petaya boost. Ice beam is the only problem i had here, as my team does not have too many ice moves, but it can be walled by Starmie and Vaporeon. HP grass may be added if you suggest so.
Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
Flygon is such a useful pokemon in this team now that Salamence is out of the equation, he sees a lot more use as wide cover range support revenge killing machine. He stops t-bolts when jolteon has died, he too avoids EQ and is covered by empoleon in good synergy. I dont see anything wrong with his moves either.
Jolteon (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder Wave
Jolt is my support/killer, his speed coupled with great coverage and stab him make him a good all round choice to back up empoleon and Ttar. HP ICE was the big choice here over HP Grass because its not predictable and it is my 2nd ice move in the set. T-Bolt and Shadow ball offer the coverage, with STAB and it also kills of rotom which can be a big pain. T-wave is for support and stops anything setting up in its path, though any other move could help as generally specs should be used with all damaging moves.
Tyranitar (M) @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Punch
I love a good ol DD tar as they can usually mop up after where Gengar and Jolt have finished, sometimes its hard to get in as Empoloen is pretty beastly but this is more devistating. Stone Edge over rock slide for power and higer crit ratio, Crunch for stab and dealing with Starmie and Ghosts, Fire punch over EQ for Scizor, Magnezone and anything else thats not damaged by STAB. Sometimes I consider replacing this with EQ, or a different physical option to support empoleon or Jolteon.
Further notes:
- Scarf leads and trick leads with hax screw me over to much, i need something to help with that
-Azelf can become vulnerable to a faster Aerodactyl or a lead mentioned in the above, i would like a good lead like it that can take out Steel as well as explode on something bulky, so try and help there
- Do I have too many sweepers, this is an offence team and it seems to be ok, what are your views
Any suggestions to moves, new pokemon or anything is welcome
The rating is to you guys!
Thanks
