My new team

After my first team didnt turn out to be as good as i thought it was gonna be, ive decided to train a new team. And here it is:

Changes are in Bold.

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash

Nature: Jolly
Ability: Pressure
Evs: 4 Hp/ 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Moves:

1. Earthquake
2. Stealth Rock
3. Stone Edge
4. Taunt

My Lead. I wanted a fast lead to set up Stealth Rock so who better than one of the fast Pokemon in the Game. The idea is to go straight into Stealth Rock and then survive a hit with Focus Sash. Then whatever they have got out depends on weather i use Earthquake or Stone Edge. Or if they are trying to set up then i use Taunt.

Infernape @ Choice Band

Nature: Jolly
Ability: Blaze
Evs: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Moves:

1. Flare Blitz
2. Stone Edge
3. U-Turn
4. Close Combat

This guy has so much potentail as a Physical Sweeper. Ape is mainly on my team as a Scizor and Heatran Counter. Just being able to choose from a large move pool makes Ape an amazing Poke. Although i have been tempted to Scarf it just to make sure i outspeed a few things but Choice Band is working just fine for at the moment.

Scizor @ Life Orb

Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
Evs: 252 Hp / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Moves:

1. Bullet Punch
2. Brick Break
3. X-Scissor
4. Swords Dance

Why not have a Scizor on your team. He has got to be the best Physical Sweeper in the game. Plus everyone has got one so why not have one of your own. Swords Dance and Bullet Punch are essentails. And the reason why i use Life Orb over Choice Band is so that i can get a Swords Dance boost in there without getting locked in. X-Scissor for a nice STAB move and Brick Break to break Barriers and to create another option for me.

Umbreon @ Leftovers

Nature: Careful
Ability: Synchronize
Evs: 252 Hp / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Moves:

1. Curse
2. Payback
3. Moonlight
4. Toxic

My Favourite Pokemon. Its a wall that can Attack hard. Whilst im stalling, i throw Toxic at my opponent then set up Curse. Whilst im setting up i can throw in a Moonlight to help me heal faster than Leftovers. Hopefully by the time ive set up Toxic has knockout out my opponent or if they switch out then i toxic again and again. Then once im set up Payback sweeps the rest of the team. The only problem ive noticed with Umbreon though is that unless it can set up, it can get swept easily.

dpmfa135.png

Jolteon @ Choice Specs

Nature: Timid
Ability: Volt Absorb
Evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
Moves:

1. Thunderbolt
2. Shadow Ball
3. Signal Beam
4. Hiden Power (Ground)

My Special Sweeper. Its just as fast as my Aerodactyl and hits hard. Specs increases its Sp. Attack even futher meaning a Specs STAB Thunderblot usually means bye bye for my opponent. Shadow Ball is there for Ghost and Psychics. Signal Beam and Hidden Power (Ground) are there so that i have more options.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers

Nature: Bold
Ability: Water Absorb
Evs: 252 Hp / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Moves:

1. Surf
2. Toxic
3. Wish
4. Protect

Vaporeon is my other Wall. I needed a Water Type on my team and i wanted another wall so i decided on Vape. Surf is there for a STAB move. Toxic is there to help weaken my opponent whilst im stalling. Wish and Protect to help me heal when im losing health.

So theres my team, and help and crititism is appreicated.
Thanks

Hello there. I'll see what I can do to make your team better. Alright, let's go in order.

Aerodactyl

There's a few problems with your Aerodactyl set. The moveset you have has a lot of unneeded moves. Fire Fang and Thunder Fang are not really good moves to have on Aerodactyl. Meany of the top 10 leads are not hit for super effective damage with those moves. I suggest you try running a moveset of Stone Edge/Earthquake/Taunt/Stealth Rock. Not only can you set up your own Stealth Rock, but you can now prevent your opponent from setting them up to.

Infernape

Alright, I just have on issue with Infernape's set; Earthquake. Now, Flare Blitz and Close Combat already hit Pokemon for super effective damage that Earthquake hits for super effective damage as well, so it's really pointless to use that move. I suggest you try using Stone Edge. This way, you aren't completely walled by Pokemon like Gyarados and Salamence, both of which will be OHKOed. So Stone Edge is a good move to think about.

Scizor

You're Scizor looks fine, but it's EV spread may need a little reworking. Scizor should never run 252 HP, it's a waste of EVs. I suggest you run 32 HP. This way, you will be allowed to have 11 uses of Life Orb instead of 10. I also suggest you run 224 Speed EVs so you can outpace maximum Speed Tyranitar. If you don't want to outpace Tyranitar, then you can put in 248 HP EVs and the remaining 8 EVs into Speed.

Umbreon

If it's your favourite Pokemon, then it's ok. It doesn't look to bad anyways. But you can try looking into using Rest instead of Moonlight. With all of the Tyranitar running around, Moonlight will reduce it's ability ro heal by 50%, it will only heal by 25%.

Jolteon

Looks fine to me.

Vaporeon

Alright, one problem with Vaporeon; it's EV spread. Since you lack a physically defensive Pokemon, using a physically defensive Vaporeon is definitely not a bad idea. I suggest you use an EV spread of 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe with a Bold nature. This gives Vaporeon great physical bulk which your team needs.

Hope I helped!

Ok, lemme go through this. First of all, Aerodactyl has no STAB moves what so ever. Aerodactyl should not run Thunder Fang and Ice Fang. Rock Slide gives you some decent STAB power backed by reliable accuracy, and a chance to flinch. Stone Edge is another option; its got better power than Rock Slide but it has what I consider to be low accuracy. The high critical hit ratio is always threatening. You can run Taunt in the last spot.

On Infernape, you have a ton of ton of better options. As Fuzznip said above me, Nape gets excellent type coverage with Close Combat and your fire move of choice. I suggest one of the many MixApe's in Smogon's analysis.

If you absolutely want to run a Choice Band set, than use Stone Edge over Earthquake. The rest of the set is fine.

On Scizor, I would switch Quick Attack to Brick Break or Superpower. Scizor already has a priority move in Bullet Punch, so Quick Attack in my mind isn't really needed. Brick Break is kind of low power wise, but after a a Swords Dance its just as good as any other attack. Brick Break also shatters Light Screen and Reflect, which is always nice. Superpower on the other hand, gives you a big power boost over Brick Break, but it lowers your Attack and Defense by a stage, and because SD Scizor is meant to stay in and hit unlike Choice Band Scizor, that can be a little bit of a nusianance. You can always Swords Dance the attack drop away. Another option is Roost. After taking damage and Life Orb "recoil", you can Roost away the damage and be back at sweeping again. the EV spread is a little weird. Use the EV's Fuzznip suggested.

Umbreon is usually looked down on as a wall in OU, but as it is your favorite Pokemon, I guess you should keep it. The EV spread here are fine, as your defense will be going up as you Curse. I suggest that you change Moonlight to Wish, as with Vaporeon. He looks fine otherwise.

Jolteon looks ok, but did you consider Hidden Power Grass or Ice? You really have no way of dealing with the Dragons, otherwise than Scizor, but because most Salamence and Flygon carry Fire Blast, or Fire Punch in Flygon's case, Scizor really isnt the best Dragon counter. On the other side, Hidden Power Grass deals with Swampert, someone who could also cause some problems. HP Ground is always an option to deal with Heatran and whatnot, but most steel types won't like boosted STAB Thunderbolts anyways. Signal Beam is a nice idea, it gives you a secondary check against Celebi.

Vaporeon's EV spread needs to be changed. Change its nature to Bold, and you could use HP Electric over Roar to defeat Gyarados in case Jolteon goes down.

Hope I helped, and good luck.

Fuzznip and Witness, Thanks for your help you have helped quite alot.
I have made a few changes with your suggestions.
Thanks Alot.

Alrighty, here is my first attempt at some real RMT action. I played some rounds with your team and found the following to be very beneficial.

Problem:
Blissey / Skamory or Blissy / Gliscor defensive cores
Fix: Swap Infernape from Choice Band to MixApe

Infernape @ Life Orb
Naive nature
EVs: 64 Atk /252 SAtk / 192 Spe
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Close Combat
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power Ice

With those defensive cores you will get the complete run-around as you try to switch in counters. Furthermore, Blissey loves playing that game with you since she can just inflict status on switches, worst of all being Toxic. If you switch into any of those three listed, be wary of Brave Bird, Earthquake, or a status. Once you're in they won't have too many options.

-

I'm inclined to suggest you swap your Scizor setup to the Choice Band setup. Using U-Turn throughout the game severely wears down anything that can't resist it.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant nature
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
- Bullet Punch
- U-Turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

-

I also think Suicune is a better physical wall than Vaporeon. Even with the defensive EVs Vaporeon takes a real beating. Suicune has better defensive bulk and works basically like a special version of your Umbreon. I'd suggest the Calm Mind Shuffle set with Rest for added durability, but Ice Beam will give you more offense. Roar works well with the Stealth Rocks up.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Bold nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
- Surf
- Calm Mind
- Roar
- Rest / Ice Beam

-

I also agree that Rest may be the way to go on Umbreon. With Curse pumping up your defense, you can usually survive the two turns with health to spare, unless you're up against something that you just should not be facing with him. This also works well with Synchronize since he can take any (except sleep) status and throw it back on the user, then Rest it off and continue on. Toxic is good, but Yawn can make anything that likes to set up think twice about staying in and gives you a free turn to use Curse.

Hope this is useful!
