I'm a little new to competitive battling, and very new to Monotype battles, so I could probably use a little criticism on my newest team.
Lucario @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 4 HP / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature
- Aura Sphere
- Psychic
- Dragon Pulse
- Dark Pulse
I wanted to start with Lucario, because he's one of my favorite pokemon. I decided to make him a Special attacker, because I figured people more commonly run a physically offensive Lucario (Am I wrong?). I went with Choice Specs because it made more sense to me in Monotype. If any of my moves would be super affective against the opposing team, I would just choice into that move.
Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 248 SDef / 24 Spd
Careful Nature
- Spore
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Drain Punch
I also really like Breloom, and I knew he could be used well as a support pokemon, so I decided to go with that. I'm sure you know whats going on here. Use Toxic Orb to prevent statuses, along with Poison heal, Leech seed, etc., to heal the Toxic.
Conkeldurr @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 116 SDef / 20 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- ThunderPunch
- Fire Punch
Now I knew I would need a physical attacker on my team, and I saw that Conkeldurr has a pretty high attack, as well as the Iron Fist ability, so I went different type Punch moves to cover any weaknesses. Also not much to say here.
Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 Spd
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Volt Switch
I was also obviously going to need some defensive pokemon, and Cobalion has great defense for a fighting pokemon, so I went with him. He and possibly Breloom would be my pokemon I would open with, depending on what I would predict they would start with. I'd Thunder Wave/Taunt (to stop entry hazards), set up Stealth Rocks myself, then Volt Switch out.
Virizion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SDef / 4 Def / 252 HP
Calm Nature
- Synthesis
- Roar
- Protect
- Toxic
I'd now need specially defensive pokemon, and honestly, I just saw that Virizion had great special defense. I also saw he could learn Synthesis and Roar, and got a little excited. Now, if someone was trying to set up (boost stats), I could just roar them out. I could also Toxic, Protect, and Synthesis to stall out a pokemon.
Infernape @ Expert Belt
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 180 Atk / 76 SAtk / 252 Spd
Rash Nature
- Overheat
- Close Combat
- Thunder Punch
- U-turn
Now that I saw that I already had an attacker, special attacker, supports and defenses, deciding on my last pokemon was tough, but I saw that Infernape worked as a mixed attacker, and he was fast, I was sold. Not really much else to say. I also put U-turn on there, to possibly add a little momentum to my team.
